I had never heard of Joaquín Turina until now, and I'm already in love with his music. Thank you for introducing me to his music. It sounds similar to Debussy and Ravel, and I'm extremely here for it. 😁😁
Terrific composer. Just heard some of his guitar music again recently. It had been years and it was wonderful to hear again. As for this composition remember there is an orchestral version too. Great music !
Thanks for posting this Paco.
Turina grew up into a musical environment where three disparate strands of musical thought were warring against one another. On one side was the hyper-Romanticism of Wagner and his adherents. Debussy and Ravel (known as the Impressionists) had reacted against this Romanticism. But then there was a third strand-the classicism of Camille Saint-Saens, Vincent D'Indy and Cesar Franck, which would pave the way for Neo-Classicism. Conventional musical thought at the time was that these three "schools" were mutually exclusive. Boldly, Joaquin Turina chose to attempt to combine them......and to a large extent he succeeded. Harmonically, he is an Impressionist, like Debussy and Ravel. But unlike them, he has a firm sense of classical form and architecture, in the Neo-Classic style, as befitting a student of D'Indy's. But unlike the Impressionists or the Neo-Classicists, Turina does not attempt to avoid great emotions or romance, thus maintaining a continuum with the Romantics as well. Sadly, Turina is too often dismissed as just a "Spanish composer." In reality, he tried to force together disparate and even opposing musical forms of discourse......in his later works, even "blue notes" and hints of jazz seem to appear.
marvellous playing, sounds like a vinyl playing? at 1:07 (and there after) it seems the whole music playing has gone a semi tone higher than the notated?
@Teramce Lam - it sounds like a vinyl recording before the piano playing even starts. I recognize the snap, crackle, and pop. If I missed spelled your first name please forgive me. After I clicked to leave a remark I couldn’t remember how you spell your first name.
thank you for sharing this music! We are learning so many fascinating compositions!

Extraordinarias piezas... e interpretación. Y gracias por la edicion con partitura!

You should definitely listen to his “Sinfonía sevillana” and “La procesión del Rocío”. You will love them.

I played this in high school! I love Turina!
Son preciosas ¡Muchas gracias desde hispanoamérica!
2021: Spains most prolific unknown Composer... most are on UA-cam. Much--Thanks

The composer's orchestration of this piece is even better.
Fascinating Alicia de Larrocha! Brilliant performance, thanks for uploading it, indeed!!!
Ay qué belleza

Love this.
Have only just realised that Messaien borrows the ecstasy theme from 1:14....
Interesting composer... Sounds like a follower of Debussy...
Yet still a great performance! Thank you for sharing!

Haha it does sound like to shifts up, threw me off too. I'm not sure why it's like that
Has anyone heard his piano composition, Run”?
Is delightful, but it requires excellent left and right hand coordination.
send the link of someone playing it
vete tú a saber
11:30 and 13:11 reminds me his fantasia sevillana for guitar
10:51
Sublime.

yes
The dance in 5/8 made the 6/8 sound so boring!
It’s a Zortzico, a Basque folk dance in 5/8. A number of composers wrote them including Alkan and even Alkan in the mid 1800s.

jfc they played this fast. Tastes were different I guess.
think you are looking for a new track to dance in 1900s and found this gem to rock with your fiance on the gothic ballroom
Way too many radical tempo changes to my taste. It is called Danza. Not "free for all.!
Do you mean in the performance? Or in the composition
