I can never thank you enough Daniel for your time and effort in doing these videos which is what keeps me up to date with what's going on down there, when you were talking about the river, from what I would say is you standing where you were, you'd be in the river according to your son's photo if I remember correctly but either way they are doing what they can to remedy the situation so to speak, I kinda laughed when I saw the title and I literally had to remember how to spell damage, hahaha so not to bum you out, just funny, anyhow I hope you are well you did seem kinda getting out of breath there for a minute, of course I am thinking, oh lordy please don't let Dan be a smoker( sadly I had to grow up in a household that did, yukk), so I am so glad I don't but I can't tell others what to do, take care please and continue these amazing vid's
@@sandihauger320 yeah, I will do my best to get down that way soon. I was up that way a few weeks back and need to get down that way just to see how things are going 👍
It really is great to see the park cleaned up. I did not think it would be this far along, and yes it has a ways to go yet, but at least it feels like a park with a parking lot near the river. Read below you have been sick. Get well soon and take care of yourself! Great job with the video as usual!! CSX is doing a pretty good job with the railroad tracks too from other things I saw. Still going to take some time but at least it's a start!
Google earth may help you figuring out where the river was. Further down they have imagery from 22-Dac-24 after the flood and you can compare before and after. Much of the bank was stripped clear by the flood upstream of here and I would expect similar here. Thank you for the videos.
They've cleaned it too much. trees should have remained for bank stability. There will be a lot of siltation for years until the bank is restored. Now's the time to do it while it's as bad as it can be.
Wow those piles along 26 are much smaller. I hope they found everyone. I was down Thanksgiving. Big difference. Thank you for showing my family said it looked much better it was just hard to believe. Thanks to everyone who worked on that mess. It was enormous.
Yeah, the industrial park workers have been working almost 7 days a week. Definitely making headway slowly but surely on the cleanup there. Everyone missing in Unicoi County was found and accounted for. Not sure if they found all that were missing up river from Unicoi. Still quite a few missing overall in other areas. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment
You sound as if you believe the trees all slid down of their own volition. They came down with the waterlogged landslides. People could do nothing about it. That’s what killed so many people. Water turned to mud which was so much more powerful in washing things and people downstream. Also my other point was that there were no trees for people to try to grab onto and save their own lives. The trees all rolled over with their root ball intact. But they were weak, nothing to hold onto.

Been sick...not a smoker
@@Offroadviking Get well soon my friend, big hugs !!!
CSX has done a great job on the cleanup. They are trying to rebuild and help too and I think they’ve done a fantastic job.
Absolutely. It looks so much better. And they needed that heavy equipment.
Can you update Bumpus cove area? It was a wash out down there. I spent 5 days there last summer. It was a beautiful stretch of the Nolichucki.

Wonder if Chestoa Bridge will be rebuilt
I've heard that it will be, just haven't heard a timeframe yet. Guessing it's pretty low on priority at this point.
