Brights Zoo is a private, family-owned facility nestled in the hills of East Tennessee. Animals living here include some rare & endangered species such as addax, bongo and scimitar-horned oryx, and bactrian camels. The center also contains more common but exotic creatures like red kangaroos, spider monkeys, pandas and zebras.
Beginning in 2007, we opened the gates for school tours of our facility. These tours are designed to educate children of any grade level about pivotal issues concerning the support and welfare of animals everywhere.
1. Brights Zoo offers self-guided and guided tours. Topics covered include learning to recognize animals at each exhibit, adaptations for survival and general information along with interesting facts about each species. Animal photography is encouraged.
2. Animal care focuses on the everyday activities associated with caring for animals and concentrates on feeding habits and veterinary care. Feeding habits cover the diet and nutrition for the animals both in captivity and in their natural habitat. Veterinary care features common animal pests and parasites, and preventative measures and treatments for controlling them.
3. Conservation covers man’s impact on his environment and demonstrates the need for the protection of natural habitats required for the survival of wild animals.

I was in tennessee for thanksgiving and we went here.The giraffe's name is Kipekee which means unique in Swahili and she is absolutely beautiful!!

I was so excited to see y'all traveled to see the the unique spotless giraffe. I just saw it on the news Monday morning. I hadn't realized just how close it is. We love Yoders so hopefully we can make a trip for both soon. I so appreciate how informative your videos always are.

We raise goats here in Indiana and those little guys look healthy and well cared for. We are going to sneak over to this zoo while visiting friends in Rodgersville next week. ❤
It seemed pretty clean & well kept from what we could see. They normally have about 400 people attend. I guess they had close to 3k on Saturday!

I am not sure if you noticed but you drove right past Troyer's which is also an another awesome Amish store. It is on the same highway as the zoo.
I did look at that one before we left. I figured the kids would be happy to get Pal’s. We will have to check it out next time we are in the area…thanks!

Thank you for sharing the video on new baby giraffe. I have always wanted to go see the giraffes at Bright Zoo. Next time you check out Troyer’s. You should try Auntie Ruth donuts and pretzels. We have drove out there for them. Pals was a great choice too. The cheddar rounds are great at breakfast. 🦒🌭
I looked at going to Troyer’s the day before, but opted to go with Pal's as I knew that would be a hit with the kids.
This is a really great little zoo! I live in nearby Jonesborough and my family and I love to visit Brights. Next time y’all are in the area make sure you stop by Troyers!

Went to a place very much like this in St. Louis with my son & 10 year old grandson…..it was a school field trip & for some reason the kids were possessed with seeing a capibara….that giraffe is extraordinary….animals can be fascinating☺️….giraffes are just majestic to me!!
And a happy Capi Brie says, lol…..I think he was smiling😬
They are so majestic! One of God's many magnificent creations! They were napping so she said they were nappy capi's. It was a great day! They ended up getting more people at the zoo than they ever had on Saturday!

We almost stopped there on our way home to PA yesterday, but we opted for Incredible Tiny Homes instead.

I would really love to visit this zoo and see all the animals. I like zoos and other than Knoxville Zoo being close to the Pigeon Forge/Sevierville/Gatlinburg area this one sounds like it's close as well. Maybe when I make a visit to the Smoky Mountains after moving to Nashville I'll have to visit this zoo. The spotless giraffe 🦒 is really unique and cute. I think it's name should be Shakiri.

Such a cool zoo for the area but some lady kicked us out because we couldn't bring food in for my 12 month old so we couldn't stay long then she had the owner threaten to ban us super weird people
They have particular rules. This was the first zoo we have been to that did not allow a “selfie stick” for filming. We did try to cover the no outside food rule in the beginning of the video.
Can you make a video at the creation museum and ark encounter it is the best
I have ALWAYS wanted to go there and it's close to our home too. Maybe this fall!

It sounds as though giraffe are both highly susceptible to intestinal parasites and are prone to hoof conditions when kept on grassy, soft substrate. Zoos do this to control their diet.
