  • I spent several nights at the Iwanai Kogen Hotel, which is walking distance from both a ski resort, and the Iwanai Kogen Brewery. You can find it on Tripadviser, Booking.com, Agoda, etc. etc. Here's a google link: goo.gl/maps/SR...
    The store selling bags and such is Muramoto Tent: goo.gl/maps/jJ...

    Cool little town, I really like the design of the brewery building, it fits so nicely into that snowy landscape (as an aside your red coat looked great against that backdrop too!) The shop was so cute too. It's so fun to see these little places, off the beaten track so to speak and yet so full of history. Thanks as always for taking us along and sharing these places with us.

    Hokkaido and Tohoku (well back to Dewa and Mutsu) have so much history, but you need to scratch below the surface to find... but Iwanai Musts Bay and thevwest coast off Hirosaki are ancient ports... my time exploring there road signs were in Russian, Chinese and Japanese around southern Hokkaido.

    :O I often wondered how the beer came to Japan but never read it up, so that's a mistery solved lol. I'm really suprised that hops would just grow wildly in japan i wonder if some visitors had previously just lost some seeds or what XD anyway,...here is yet another place I wanna visit..damn it lol.
    also: i'm going through your vids way too fast at this rate I'll be out of content before i finish ironing lol in a way it's a good sign that you have less time for videos overall as it means you're buzy and income is well and steady ;) good good. But it is somewhat bitter sweet 🥲 (but don't you dare stressing out about it :o you take all the time you need and all that)

      I'm over in the States for a month, and it's killing me that I can't hike any mountains in Japan this season or make any videos. Ah well.

    Japan's craft beer quality is on par with anywhere now, in my humble opinion - being from Wisconsin and having lived in the Pacific Northwest for years. Getting your hands on local beer is the issue though as distribution appears to be a problem, so often one has to go to an area to be able to drink the bounty. Ibaraki alone has dozens of craft breweries now, but very few are available even in Tokyo. Not a bad thing perhaps.

    • @GoNorthJapan
      @GoNorthJapan  Рік тому +1

      Well hello fellow Wisconsinite!
      Agreed regarding Japan's craft beer. There's a lot of great stuff!

    Looks promising. When we were in your neck of the woods in Iwate in December I enjoyed a couple bottles of your recommended Baeren Brewery which were quite tasty. For me the real value proposition is sake. So following Japanese tradition I suggest a first round of 生ビール followed by the appropriate amount of 日本酒. 🍻

    • @GoNorthJapan
      @GoNorthJapan  Рік тому

      If you get a chance, Akabu is some of the best sake from around here!

    • @deanzaZZR
      @deanzaZZR Рік тому

      @@GoNorthJapan Haha. You suggested that to us. The only time we saw it was in Morioka Station. We didn't have enough time to purchase and send back to Tokyo as we needed to catch a train and had more traveling to do. I didn't want to lug it around. We had some nice local flights in our stay at Hanamaki Onsen and Hiraizumi. The one bottle I grabbed before we got a bus to the onsen was Hamachidori Tokubetsu Junmai which was a real mild, pleasant sake. Akabu is actually available not too far from me in San Francisco but it's expensive. It will be mine eventually as both my wife and I love visiting Japan's Far North.

    • @GoNorthJapan
      @GoNorthJapan  Рік тому

      Baeren is a German-style, which is fine. I'm more excited about Black Tide in Kessennuma, and even Tono Brewing is pretty great, actually!
