Wukong is a shape shifter, he can transform to many animals , enymies even building and trees. By the way, he can also turn to as big as titan to fight. We believe Game Science hide so many things, the relase will surprize us once again.
@@birdyrage oh, basicly Wukong and his companions escorted a monk to the Western Heaven, which is India in reality, to retrieve Buddhist scriptures. During the jouney, Wukong need to defeat so many monsters. What you see in this game is the story after that jouney many years later. And a new guy looks like Wukong called Destiny Man will walk agan that jouney. BTW, Wukong was born in a boulder which used to fill the hole of the sky by a godess.
The Monkey King, Sun Wukong, is finally here! 72 transformations and fighting 81 bosses! The last scene, the Four Heavenly Kings, WOW. No matter you are familiar with Chinese Mythology or not, no matter you like this type of game or not, you can't deny the Chinese developers put sheer amount of work in game play, sceneries, art work, music and representation of the myth. This might be the best look & feel of a game out of the box. Absolute respect!
After Sun Wukong beats the bosses, he can absorb their abilities or acquire their weapons as his. During fighting with other bosses, he can transform into the bosses he absorbed before and use their unique abilities. The 72 transformation and 81 devils are coming from the original Chinese Mythology, Journey To The West. I don't think Game Science will implement all of them, because it won't be practical for players to manipulate that many forms and abilities. But, hey, let's wait and see.
The Buddha statues and temples featured in the video are mostly modeled based on real-life scans of temples in Shanxi Province, China. We welcome you to visit Shanxi for a tour.
As a Chinese, I am very happy that many people are paying attention to this game. Believe me, this game has a very high attention in China. If it is not done well, Game Science will not have the courage to fool us, and the consequences will be very serious. In addition to the gameplay and boss of this game, I hope everyone can enjoy the true oriental aesthetics and the story of this game. This story is not the original Journey to the West, it should be an original adaptation of the dark story, but I believe it must have a unique philosophy and touching. (The above is my Google translation, my English is not good)
I listened to a few overviews of people who got to play a few hours of it at SGF. The game is apparently very well optimized and feels amazing to play. A couple details I remember are that this game is more akin to a character action game than a souls like with the controller face buttons being used to attack. You use light attacks to fill a focus bar, which once full, allows you to do a special heavy attack like the overhead slam or pole extension seen in the trailer. There's also an extensive skill tree and you receive transformations from defeating bosses and are on a time limit and can be refilled when you rest. There are souls-like elements though like a healing gourd, bonfires, and a stamina relegated specifically to dodging so you can't spam dodge but you can attack as much as you'd like.
The story of Sun Wukong is definitely one of the most important fictional works to ever exist in all of human history, right up there with the Epic of Gilgamesh and Beowulf. Sun Wukong’s story helped define what storytelling should be not just as a form of entertainment, but as a form of art as well.
it seems that you can shape shift into defeated monsters. some require you to obtain the weapons they dropped, some require you to capture them with the gourd
@@AlbedoRhinedottir1223 yes!! but but it's like dozens in engilsh, wukong should be able to shapeshift into more than 72 things. in this game, it is 80 transformation.
No, there are 72 superpowers, transformation is one of them, and the 72 transformations also include jumping higher and farther, not afraid of heat or cold, and high-speed regeneration
The storyline is more like a "sequel" to the original Journey to the West. It tells you what happened to Wukong after they've acquired the Buddha Scripture and returned from the west. ^^
Just for knowledge His staff (Ru Yi Jin Gu Pang) 如意金箍棒 weight approximately 7,960 kg. It can shrink to a strain of fur and storage it in the ear. 如意金箍棒 originate from Dragon King of the East Sea
If the devs don't deliver with this one, there's gonna be "witch hunting" in the chinese community because this is regarded as the first international AAA chinese game that might represent a great start of a new trend in the gaming industry and gaming culture depicted by the chinese (I swear they have so many stories to share in their culture) that hasn't been faithfully represented by other medias. We have seen a lot of western european, american, and japanese takes in videogames, It's about time to see how the chinese contributes to the landscape.
you can only dodge in this game, but there are at least 2 spells/skills to block monsters' attack: iron skin and ring of protection? oh there is one stance that you can deflected range attack by spinning the staff
This is going to be the Game of the Year 2024 and may inspire more Chinese developers to bring more Chinese mythology to the world of gaming. And the music or that Buddhist chant is dope! Fun facts: Game Science chose to release on August 20th because it's said to be the birthday of Sun Wukong. The story of the game seems to happen sometimes after the end of “Journey To The West” story, where the power of Buddha and the other gods are gone, instead the Yaoguai and monsters are taking over the world. So we as players, are not playing as Sun Wukong the monkey king, but as the "天命人" (the English name maybe "Man of Destiny," notice at the end of the final trailer, it writes "confront destiny on Aug 20,2024"). This "Man of Destiny" will be another monkey king trying to bring order and justice back to the world by re-walking the path that Sun Wukong has taken. But there are also other theories going around, so we will find out soon.
Let's hope for the big success. After Wukong the upcoming chinese games that are now heavely in production are: Where Winds Meet (the setting is ancient china wuxia open world rpg), Phantom Blade (also wuxia mixed with cyberpunk but inspired by Devil May Cry), Crimson Desert (open world rpg) and Project The Perceiver (kung fu with mystery masks). None of these games will be gacha. Those ambitious games are AAA title that will relase first in China and worldwide after. But yeah, Wukong will be the first to impress the world.
You didn't comment on the Buddha statues. You only laughed at the little Buddha with watermelon, and long ears. Well it's a thing to look out for in this game, lots of Buddhist artwork and Chinese folklore inspired the game.
