A review of the accessories available for the Anytone 868/878 including battery eliminator, case, external microphones, high gain antennas and I'll check to see if this radio will connect to my Sony car stereo in the Jeep.
Due to a false contact in a connector I made a mistake in reporting that the bluetooth PTT didn't work together with external wired mike, It works perfectly!
My setup now works like it should. As cyclist I use the bluetooth PTT button mounted on the handlebar, a cheap stage microphone which I can use comfortably with and without helmet in combination with an airtube earphone. and a big PTT switch clipped to my jacket or belt for when I need to get of my bike to do my job.
Wearing the radio using either the MSC20B pouch high on my right shoulder with use of the larger comet antenna or the powerwerx CSC868 pouch with standard antenna on my belt.
Bob, love your work. Thank you for being straightforward on the product.
Thanks.
That is it.
If you talk about DMR or the Anytone 878 one more time I am going to buy one.

Bluetooth works just fantastic on FM analog also on the 878+
Really? Bluetooth is very inconsistent for me across 4 reliable devices. And my already once replaced PTT still comes and goes occasionally but not like the first one.
My use case is operating while hiking, biking and driving and frankly had to buy a wired headset as my four devices and the PTT come and go.
Do you use it a lot on Bluetooth or just connection tests?
The Carys I have had the occasional journey when I use it. Never had a problem. Are use the firmware that came on the radio I have not upgraded it yet. Check out my UA-cam channel talking about lots of any tone stuff
🤣
That was me, talking about headphones on the repeater this morning!
I wasn't about to name names, but since you copped to it, welcome to youtube my friend.
Nice and excellent video tutorial and explanation of the accessory. Thanks I’m KP4ALM From Puerto Rico 73
Cool!!!
Nice video Bob. Haven’t got anyone of the UA-camrs to answer me about the Bluetooth PTT. Is the mic in the PTT or in the speaker mic. If it’s just a PTT I don’t get the purpose. Thanks
Flyboybobio the ptt is just that. Ptt only.
The 878+ looks better all the time. I might have to give up my Ailunce HD-1. Or can one HAVE too many radios?
Have too many radio's? Its impossible, the universe simply doesn't allow it :)
Anyone that's against redundancy and believes in diminishing returns.
I like to have maybe one thing that does a bunch of things and then maybe one backup..
K6uda is used to using handheld microphones on his l.e.o. job lol
Bob, like you breaking it up into a shorter format. I have my SteppIR Urbanbeam pointing at Californiastan lately and sitting on 14.202 on the IC 7610. Hint hint. 73 VK6MMB
We can try today. Hint hint.
@@K6UDA I did call, but propagation didnt appear. The other day USA was booming in.
@@sonarmb That doesn't surprise me. One day, the band will flip and we'll be on the upswing.
I synched my 878 to my 2019 Wrangler's stereo system. It works well. One thing though, every time I restart the vehicle and/or radio I have to pair the PPT feature which takes a bit. I placed the PTT on the driver's grab handle and it works out fine.
Despite reading the instructions I am unable to put the Anytone into VFO mode. Any advice would be appreciated.
Do you also have reconnection issues with the Bluetooth accessories? Whenever either the Bluetooth ptt button or the headset gets out of range it won’t reconnect to the radio when going back to range. Unfortunately the disconnection frequently happens already when the radio is in the backpack and the Bluetooth ptt mounted on the handlebar. I wonder if there is a setting or trick that tells the radio to auto reconnect the Bluetooth devices when they come back to range.
Oshnoshy or hoshnoshy?
Hi Bob when you do your review can you see how it gets on of the networks and repeaters and in analog.Cheers m0cdy
To much back light, it makes the radio to dark to see what you are pointing at. The background is washed out too..
I was going to buy a Bluetooth speaker mic for my 878, but I'm still waiting for it to dry out after it took a drink of water last week.
Doooh...
Nice video, Free 878? Ok, I’m in line. KB1DYC
Thanks.
Hi Bob K6UDA would you run the Bluetooth in your car for several days and try more than two hours of operating on Bluetooth? If you do, I'll subscribe like and share.
My Bluetooth PTT was already replaced once and all my 4 otherwise Bluetooth audio devices don't stay connected reliably.
Everyone I've challenged to more than just connection test use has either said 'yup' or not come back when challenged to state it works for them under normal repeater rag chew conditions.
Your audio and PTT May come and go - check it out.
Oh yah, let me know if Bluetooth PTT & mic gives you occasional "carrier no audio" transmission. Myself and a friend are having the issue and it's really negative on a heavily used repeater system.
I've never seen anyone ask someone to do a video and in exchange they would subscribe.
Weird. 🤷
all this video proves is, get 19k subscribers, and Yaesu, and anytone will send you free radios to talk about NOTHING
That case is ugly !!
Function over fashion.
