I had the same result with Garnier, too. I found out they're owned by Maybelline and I'm allergic to their makeup, so I always figured that was why, but now that I'm seeing so many people say they had the same result I think it's just a garbage product.
Garnier pink micellar water did not dry me out badly and I thought it was ok, until I tried out Bioderma pink micellar water and I realized just how much Garnier pink micellar water was drying me out in comparison.
On the ingredient list it contains Alcohol Denat, which is known to be drying in certain formulations. I was not attracted to Garneir’s micellar water partly because of this.
I love Bioderma too! I first bought a tiny bottle from a pharmacy in France when I ran out of Garnier, and never looked back. It’s 100 times better for my skin and definitely worth the price.
@@HA13370 She said she can use the Garnier one ... I buy bioderma online for around 6 euro per 500 ml. I wouldn't buy it full price 🤫 and since I don't use it everyday it lasts for ages. I prefer to use oil and cleanser if I wear makeup or sunscreen... 😉
The Avene and the La Roche-Posay micellar waters are really nice and gentle too. I have mild rosacea and super sensitive skin and they work great for me.
Omg i wrote a comment saying i also tried avene and Lrp. Good for you that they work well for your sensitive skin! Unfortunately it stung my skin quite a bit when i used them 😵
The garnier waterproof Micellar water in the blue bottle always worked way better on my skin for some reason and seemed more gentle but was better at removing makeup. Doesn’t sting my eyes or skin at all even when wearing contact lenses. The Bioderma one is great but I just couldn’t justify the price for something like that that I go through pretty quickly.
Get the Bioderma in the blue lid if you are dry to normal. It’s got focused ingredients for extra hydration. Been a Bioderma fan for years. Like since 2016.
I was going to write the same thing. I been using bioderma for around 8 years now and tried the blue because it was out of stock so I bought the blue one and I definitely prefer that one.
The blue lid bioderma smells like baby wipes. I didn't like it. I bought it many years ago though so I don't know if they changed their scent since. The green lid smells nice but I'm no longer oily skin. Pink is now my go-to.
I like the oil infused Garnier micellar water, I find that removes make up - especially around the eyes - so much easier with less irritation compared to the other versions from the same brand.
I may try this one...I don't wear mascara often but I have extra rows of lashes (it's not cute, they poke in all directions but mostly grow straight so I just get a bit more eyelid Def but they shrink my small eyes). I have to use liner at this age to get any true eye definition, and it gets trapped in the lashes, even harder to remove than mascara. I have a wonderful liner collection tho, and maybe Garnier will break it down.
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory wow I’ve never heard of anything like that before! Is it genetic? Does either of your parents or family have this too? Very interesting:)
@piXie23 my mom has an additional set of lashes but it's not what you think lol, they grow above her natural lash line and look crazy, she plucked them for years before they just stopped growing in.

@Robert you have to try the Simple Micellar water if you can find it in that UK. The one in the blue bottle (Hydro boost) is better than the original green bottle but they are both amazing. I recommend it to everyone, I won’t touch another brand for micellar water or face cleanser. It won’t sting your eyes at all, doesn’t make the skin tight, your skin just feels soft and clean. It’s so unbelievably underrated, I hear no one ever talking about it. Incredible for sensitive skin. Garnier is kind of garbage in my opinion, just not gentle on the skin and doesn’t work well. **the blue bottle is hydro boost. It’s gentle and incredible. The clear face wash is all I will use for a gel cleanser. Must buy!
I switched to Pond's cold cream for makeup remover. It's gentle, emulsifies water-insoluable make up, and is a quarter the price of other cream cleansers
I know you aren't wearing mascara in this vid but I do want to mention how amazing this stuff is, even for stubborn waterproof mascara and eyeliner!! it's a godsend product for sure. I use it as makeup remover sometimes, but mostly as a cleansing water in the mornings, and my skin loves me for it
I changed the disposable wipes for washable ones which are less scratchy. Saves my skin so much. Never thought about changing the miscilair water. I think I have found the best combo now. Thanks Robert!
Which washable ones do you like? I bought the Burts bees wipes with micellar water in them for traveling. I don't usually like disposable things, if I can help it, but they were convenient.
@Dineen Serpa not the person you asked, but I also switched over from disposable to washable some time back. They were Judy purchased off of Amazon, nothing special. I picked bamboo over standard cotton as it's more sustainable and I looked at heavily at the reviews for how long the rounds held up through uses and washing etc. I also looked at the laundry instructions, as I wanted the easiest care possible. It didn't take me very long to find what I was looking for and I bought 2 sets of 20 rounds. If they get stained and that bothers you, try some Oxiclean. Took my stains out except on the threading on the edges. I wash and dry my rounds in a small delicates bag to keep them contained.
@@theroyalbugness I always just hand wash them in the sink right after using and then let them air dry in mesh bag that hangs from a rack in my bathroom. Bioderma broke me out pretty consistently everytime i used it, which sucks cuz its more expensive i wanted it to change my life. using the blue garnier works fine for me
Exactly the same, Robert, exactly the same with me! I dislike Garnier because it not only stung my skin, but also caused tiny painful comedones (breakouts) all over my face. However, the Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water (green cap instead of pink) is something I do use for my lips and eyes at times and it's real good! Clinique's Take the Day off Cleansing Balm is my go-to though, totally melts my makeup inside out. Recently tried the Green Clean Cleansing Balm from Farmacy, and it's so very good too! But way more expensive than Clinique which is already so pricey.
Have you tried the Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet cleansing balm? It is my absolute favorite! It takes off my waterproof eye makeup, is gentle, non-drying, and rinses off well.
Idk, I have naturally combo skin with dry spots on the cheeks, but the micellair water from garnier doesnt sting me on the face, eyes or emphasise my dryness. I have sensitive skin.
I received a full size bottle of Bioderma in a Glossy Box over a year ago. I had another micellar water open, so it took me a while to get around to using it. I can't live without it now. I have slightly sensitive skin and the older I get, the more dry I feel. Bioderma for sensitive skin is my go-to micellar water. I am so glad to see it getting some praise and recognition. ❤
Important note...you still have to use cleanser after you use it. To get the gunk off your face. I love Bioderma but it does not get my sweatproof Mascara of my lashes but in the end...nothing really does so its still a very good micellar water
I have been wondering why my skin was so crazy dry and flaky lately... I thought it was either my NYX concealer or the Garnier water, and even though it didn't burn and I usually wash it away with regular water I had the feeling it was something alcohol-related. I still need to do some testing but by what I'm reading it might very well be the micellar water... Also because I was getting flaky on the cheeks too and that's not a place where I usually use concealer. Definitely going to buy another one.
I NEED that micellar water!!!! I love Garnier but it stings my eyes if I accidentally get it in them when taking myakeup off. But, micellar water takes makeup out of clothing when those little accidents happen. Just use it to pretreat the stain and wash as you normally would.
I started using the Bioderma after watching your brother's videos. I usually use it in the morning, and sometimes in the evening if I haven't gone anywhere and don't have loads of product and sunscreen on. I don't wear makeup unless on a night out, so can't speak for it's makeup removing abilities, but as a micellar water goes, it's definitely the best one I've tried out.
I agree, I used Garnier too but my face felt like it was kinda burning a little and my eyes hurt. I got rid of it and used bioderma. It’s far less abrasive on the skin. It’s soft and gentle around the delicate eye area and leaves the skin soft and skin clean. I also don’t get breakouts after it. I always do a double cleans after a take make up off. Just to be sure I have it all off. I use cotton pads soaked in bioderma on my eyes first to break down the eye make up. Cotton buds to remove any eye make up left. You can really get in to the base of the eyelashes. I hate make up on my pillowcases lol 😂
I've been using Albolene. I didn't like it at first because it doesn't "melt" like a cleansing balm does. I stuck with it because it does the job, it's gentle, and it's affordable. A 12oz jar costs $20 usd and a little goes a long way. If you wear makeup daily that one jar will last you 6 months.
Agreed! I’ve tried to use garnier bc it’s cheaper many times but I always end up tossing it and going back to bioderma. Not another micellar water I’d prefer over bioderma :)
I was introduced to Bioderma back sometime between 2008-2010 by Pixiwoo (the sisters behind Real Techniques who were some of the OG beauty UA-camrs). I found it in my local drugstore and I’ve literally been using it (the one with the pink cap called SensiBio, specifically for sensitive skin, which is the same one in this video) for literally at least 12 years. My mom uses it too. It’s literally the only micellar water I’ll use. The general public, including myself, really didn’t know what “micellar water” was back then. Most makeup removers were either those oil ones you shake up or makeup wipes. This changed the game for me. It’s one of my holy grail products. It feels, looks, smells like water but soft and soothing water that gently cleanses skin and removes a good amount of makeup, oil, and dirt without being stripping or irritating in the least.. I’m so glad you love it too, Robert. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so so much. I've been wanting to get on my solar water and I was going to just go with Garnier but I'm really glad you told me because I'm menopausal and I don't need anything to dry me out anymore than I already am!!!😂🤣 You're a beautiful soul and you're beautiful thank you for what you do I appreciate you everyday
That's so funny. I literally put the Garnier in my Ulta shopping cart last night but fell asleep before purchasing. Then this popped up today. So glad the algorithm had our backs on this one.
I just popped over to Boots on my lunch break to get this because of you lol, hoping my eyes don’t burn like they do when I use the garnier one 🥴 thanks for the suggestion Robert, I always trust your makeup advice!
The garnier one doesn't sting my eyes but it looks and feels less effective and leaves some sort of film behind. Bioderma is always my choice. I highly recommend the blue/green cap one, for oily skin, to use in the morning time.
I've been using this stuff for like 10 years now, and I'll never stop using it. It's such a good product, and affordable too. One bottle lasts me a long, long time. One way to make using micellar water more eco-friendly is by using reusable cotton rounds (or better yet, bamboo or something more sustainable) that you can wash in the laundry. :)
I use kenkay sorbolene cream for removing make up and doesn't hurt the eyes.. then I use a chemist brand micellar water and I love it. I did have that Garnier one but my daughter in law uses it all the time and she has severe skin allergies :)
Agreed! I was on the same Garnier MW train for, like, ever. Then I finally said ef it, I will spend the FEW Xtra bucks on Bioderma. And there has been no looking back. No amount of coupons Garnier can send me will are worth the price of happier, healthier skin with Bioderma.
I use this to take makeup off with a reusable cotton round and that usually removes all of my makeup because reusable cotton rounds have a larger surface area. Then I go in with a second reusable cotton round to cleanse my skin sort of like a double cleanse and all of the gunk on my face is gone. Doing this doesn’t break me out. RINSE OFF THE MICELLAR WATER. OMG this changed the game for me when I started rinsing the micellar water off my face, because they’re always marketed saying “don’t need to rinse off.”
You can also try oils, like jojoba or coconut. They break down make up so fast and they're super hydrating. Then just cleans normally, tone, moisturize, and use SPF.
Yes! I used to used plain coconut oil, but I'm still pretty acnegenic (even at 43 😑), so I had to find something else to use as a first cleanse. That's the *only* downside I found to using coconut oil as a first cleanse/makeup remover--it has a high number comedogenic score and it really seemed to break me out, even being on my face for only a few minutes. I really loved the way coconut oil broke down my makeup so quickly and easily, and the warmth from your skin very quickly turned it from a solid paste into a quite luxurious feeling, thin oil. A few years ago I switched to a cleansing cream by The Face Shop, and I love it.
Its a little misleading to say Garnier micellar water does X and Y. It really depends which Garnier micellar water you're using. They do have a few different versions. I use the one with hyaluronic acid and it doesn't sting or dry out my sensitive, mature skin, even my eyelids. And it takes off waterproof mascara and liner.
I rather spend a bit more on a better product than saving some bucks on one that hurts my skin. The difference I'm HUGE! and fortunately, there are several discounts all year round that I take advantage of to get the bigger bottles. Bioderma is waaaaaaaay better in every way. The main difference happens with the eyes, Garnier burns, Bioderma doesn't PERIOD
I love the bioderma one. Been using for years! Simple makes a nice one too, but this is the OG and perfect is for my lazy mom mornings and/or evenings!
I love Bioderma, another one I use constantly for lazy cleansing is the one for TonyMoly! I can't recommend the two enough. The TonyMoly one also has helped with my small breakouts and hormone breakouts. My skin always feels great when I used it.
THANK YOU dear Robert ❣️🥰👍🍀 I use Garnier with the light/white Top with Rose-Water and the other One with the pink-red Top. I doesn't feel a real Difference. But If your Expierience is like as you said I will change my Micellar Water , too! Normally I do the 2 Steps Cleansing, Micellar I use only If I doesn't wear anything, only Moisturizer and SPF. And it works till now excellent. But If Bioderma is' better and more mild ....i will change to it!
I bought them for the first time in france because i happened to be in france and it’s cheaper there (obviously lmao). I also got myself Avene and LRP. Other than that, i have tried garnier and probably nivea as well. Gosh, Bioderma is the goat when it comes to micellar water. I’m never using other brands!
Bioderma is the GOAT! My personal fave is the Hydrobio line (blue lid), it's perfect for my rosacea sensitive and thirsty skin. It's also great for those low days when I don't have energy to do skincare. Garnier doesn't even remove eye makeup, it's just crap.
I use Vichy Micellar water. It comes from the famous Vichy spa in France, full of trace minerals that nourish the skin. Gentle and thorough. I buy it and other Vichy products from Walgreens. Their spray water in a can is life changing. Keep it in the fridge for a cool burst of mineral freshness. My dog loves it too.
This is good to know. I am experiencing the eyelid burn now from the Garnier. I bought another type before watching this video - Marcelle Micellar water. Hopefully it works gently as well.
I've had the same experience! The sensitive skin garnier micellar water burns when I used it! But the bioderma one never does. I love it. I looked at the ingredients and they are completely different products
i use the L'oreal micellar water it also wiped my makeup with no problem i only do natural makeup so i dont really know how it works with full makeup but i absolutely love it
my skin kinda loves the Garnier micellar rose water : > Regular one suits me fine too. I've never had side effects like tightness or stinging/pain. Products sometimes work differently person to person - just like how beauty gurus 10 years ago loved lemon juice and st. ives apricot scrub but it ruined my skin LOL
I have been using Garnier for a few years and never stung on my eyes, but let me say that I not sensitive to anything, thankfully. Garnier has worked wonderfully for me and even during the winter months, when my skin gets quite dry (even while living in a tropical island) doesn’t get my skin dryer than what is supposed to be. I use the pink one for daily use (and for before my skincare routine before bed) and the blue one when I wear heavy makeup… I even removed my hair dye stains with it hahaha
Essano makes a nice rosewater one too. A cheaper alternative to bioderma or essano are the Pacifica ones, I've had luck with those as someone with dry skin.
Omg thank you for doing this short, I use the garnier one and it sometimes burns my eyes also, they would get red and it dries up my skin if I use enough of it to remove all of my makeup, I deff gotta check out that other brand because I have combo skin with more dry areas than oily ones so I need something that won’t cause it to get drier than it already tends to get
Tbf I've never tried bioderma but I find the regular Garnier micellar too harsh and stings the eyes but the oil infused one (blue bottle) is waaaaay better , does better at taking off make up and leaves my skin feeling supple and not dry
I remove my makeup with olive oil mixed with a little castor oil. Works like a dream. I also moisturize with jojoba oil. That's my entire beauty routine at 43. My skin started looking clear and even af within a week or 2 of stopping all other products 😁.
Wow really? Im 41 and just really started trying face care routines lol. So im really interested in this. What do u cleanse with if u dont mind me asking?
@@DanielleGarcia-qi2si I'm like you and didn't start until later, too. I think I was 39 or 40 before I gave a f*ck 😂. To cleanse I used the olive oil and castor oil, too. That's honestly all I do. Cleanse with that, moisturize with jojoba oil. I'll probably add in some vitaminnc serum later and maybe eventually start using retinol, but fir now I just use the oils and make sure I wear sunscreen. I think it all gave my skin barrier a break and my face just chilled out and likes the healing properties of the oils. Hope this was helpful 😊.
@@Dwaekki0325 sure. But some people find that coconut oil can clog their pores or cause breakouts. It never caused my breakouts (I used to use it to moisturize), but it did clog my pores a bit and didn't do anything to even out my skin tone. I think it's down to trial and error to see what oil(s) work best for you 😊.
I normally use the vitamin C garnier micellar water, works great for me. It stings my eyes when it gets in there but otherwise it works just fine and doesn’t irritate my skin or leave it dry. I suppose it just a matter of skin type rather than brand.
I work in makeup and I was gifted at least 3 different garnier formulations in gratis before I finally received a bioderma and I haven't used the garnier since!
Love, love, love Bioderma. I used to use Garnier as well, but then I decided to try bioderma and never went back. My mom with very reactive oily skin also uses bioderma. I try to get myself and her big bottles when there's a sale, and last summer I found 800ml (!!!) pink bioderma micellar water for like 14€ at the pharmacy, and mine still is like 35% full even though i use it every day. Also, bioderma face cleansers are amazing, very soft and gentle, I definitely recommend to try them out! ❤
I really like the Garnier Rose Water Micellar Water. Gentle on your skin, subtle fragrance and doesn’t leave your skin feeling right. Oh and it’s affordable!
After removing the makeup with the pads, does the skin still have remaining makeup? ‘Cause sometimes mine does that and I feel the need to clean my face again with a cleanser or makeup removing balm
Bioderma is the ONLY one that I can use on my eyes. My eyes are so sensitive that when I used others, I would wake up the next day, and my eyes would still be watering. Bioderma doesn’t make them water at all. Love it
Garnier dried my skin out terribly. Switched to the Bioderma and it’s like night and day.
Same!!

thank you for this video, wished I knew about this before I just bought the garnier just now, damn ittt
Love bioderma products, recently diagnosed with psoriasis and it’s so gentle.
I swear by bioderma products! I recommend them to everyone. They are extremely affordable and their products just work.
Bioderma products are the best! I’m using it for 19 years now! It helped me with my teenage acne as well back in the day.
I love the Bioderma one. Especially the lid!!
Simple makeup removing micellar water is amazing. That's my go to. I even use it to do a gentle cleanse of my face in the morning.
Which is better simple or bioderma
I have very sensitive skin and the simple micellar is perfect for me
I've been using this stuff for like 10 years now, and I'll never stop using it.
Bioderma is the best. I have used it for about 5 years now and I’ll never go back. So gentle and it gets everything off.☺️
I used the bioderma sebum green cap one and I truly enjoy it. Used it for a year now
Bioderm is excellent. No stinging, greasy residue, blurry eyes due to oiliness. Thanks!!!
Yeah, it’s important to find the miccelar water, that works well with your skin. G guy or example, I can only use one by Neutrogena.
Bioderma and The Makeup eraser towel are my favorite first cleanse
Thanks for the recommendation
I rather spend a bit more on a better product than saving some bucks on one that hurts my skin. The difference I'm HUGE! and fortunately, there are several discounts all year round that I take advantage of to get the bigger bottles. Bioderma is waaaaaaaay better in every way. The main difference happens with the eyes, Garnier burns, Bioderma doesn't PERIOD
This product changed my life. I suffered so bad with dry eye then I found this and I haven’t had bad eyes for years now. Love love love bioderma ❤️❤️
I got the Bioderma Micellar water too, on the advice from your brother James 🖤💜
Bioderma doesn’t mess around i love their products so much
I found a huge bottle of this at costco once! I love it for removing my eye makeup that way glitter and mascara doesn't get in my eyes as much.
THANK YOU dear Robert ❣️🥰👍🍀
I use Garnier with the light/white Top with Rose-Water and the other One with the pink-red Top.
I really like Niveas! It takes waterproof mascara off with zero irritation, and super fast! It doesn't dry out my skin, it's great!
I love this one too and the Burt’s Bees one is even more natural!
This is good to know. I am experiencing the eyelid burn now from the Garnier. I bought another type before watching this video - Marcelle Micellar water. Hopefully it works gently as well.
LOVE bioderma micellar water!! It’s the OG!! I have dry skin so I always grabbed the hydrating one :)
I've been using the one from Simple Skincare for ages, and it's my favorite ❤
I've had the same experience! The sensitive skin garnier micellar water burns when I used it! But the bioderma one never does. I love it. I looked at the ingredients and they are completely different products
i use the L'oreal micellar water it also wiped my makeup with no problem i only do natural makeup so i dont really know how it works with full makeup but i absolutely love it
I actually started with bioderma and it stung my eyes, and was a bit harsh on my skin. La Rochay Posay has a micellar water that's much better.
my skin kinda loves the Garnier micellar rose water : > Regular one suits me fine too.
Burt’s Bees micellar water is great too! I love that stuff
Thank you for the tip.
I use Bioderma in the blue bottle. Best one ever!
Essano makes a nice rosewater one too. A cheaper alternative to bioderma or essano are the Pacifica ones, I've had luck with those as someone with dry skin.
I use Garniers Rose Micellar water as a toner
Omg thank you for doing this short, I use the garnier one and it sometimes burns my eyes also, they would get red and it dries up my skin if I use enough of it to remove all of my makeup, I deff gotta check out that other brand because I have combo skin with more dry areas than oily ones so I need something that won’t cause it to get drier than it already tends to get
I changed from Garnier to La roche posay and there's a lot of difference! will try Bioderma as well to see!
I love your makeup. Very discreet❤
Tbf I've never tried bioderma but I find the regular Garnier micellar too harsh and stings the eyes but the oil infused one (blue bottle) is waaaaay better , does better at taking off make up and leaves my skin feeling supple and not dry
the blue garnier one is good, the pink was insanely drying for me
I remove my makeup with olive oil mixed with a little castor oil.
Hiii can i use coconut oil to remove makeup👀
@@Dwaekki0325 sure. But some people find that coconut oil can clog their pores or cause breakouts. It never caused my breakouts (I used to use it to moisturize), but it did clog my pores a bit and didn't do anything to even out my skin tone. I think it's down to trial and error to see what oil(s) work best for you 😊.
@@Elvira-k3r oh okayy thanks for replying❤️🩹
I normally use the vitamin C garnier micellar water, works great for me. It stings my eyes when it gets in there but otherwise it works just fine and doesn’t irritate my skin or leave it dry. I suppose it just a matter of skin type rather than brand.
I work in makeup and I was gifted at least 3 different garnier formulations in gratis before I finally received a bioderma and I haven't used the garnier since!
I have atopy and eczema, I always use micellar water from Bioderma! I have never experienced an allergy with it in 5 years
and i also hate oil cleansers my sensory issues go crazy 😩
What! James didn't give you one from his stash 😂❤❤❤Love Bioderma and the MW from Cosrx is very nice too.
Bioderma is my favorite I had to use the other sleeping over at a friends and whew I missed my Bioderma 😭😭
The garnier one works wonders for me, I love it!! The bioderma one however, was awful for my skin and I broke out so bad after using it
Bioderma is the ONLY one that I can use on my eyes. My eyes are so sensitive that when I used others, I would wake up the next day, and my eyes would still be watering. Bioderma doesn’t make them water at all. Love it
The Bioderma’s SPF for sensitive skin it’s great too!
