Pretty spot on. I want to love this car but can’t really come to terms that it’s missing a lot of features other cars in its class has. Reflector headlights, half digital dash, battery taking up half the spare wheel well, no spare just all seem like Honda just cutting corners. Yes these are small items but it’s hard to ignore when you’re paying almost 40 grand
No panoramic roof… like that’s a bad thing. Panoramic roofs are prone to leaking, make extra noise, reduce headroom, and transmit a bunch of heat. I avoid any car with a large glass roof which gets opened 3x a year.
I had not thought of these possible issues. I did buy a CR-V but I really (thought) I wanted a panoramic roof. This makes me feel a bit better about the CR-V which I have really enjoyed otherwise.
We have a 2024 CR-V Hybrid AWD with over 6500 miles on it and live in the Country. The closest town is 10 miles away, so I figure, 80 percent of my driving is over the speed of 55 mph and get an average of 33 to 35 actual mpg. That is better than our previously owned 2021 CR-V AWD that averaged 31.
That sounds close to what I’m getting. I ran one tank of gas in Eco mode and in a mostly suburban environment got 39.2 MPG! I’m trying for one tank at 40…
Yes.. I have noticed that too.. Toyota/Lexus just don't get it.. Seems like Toyota/Lex makes all their vehicles with rooflines that are way too low, and this causes a cramped interior with bad outward visibility..
OK.... I own the '23 Sport Touring Hybrid. This would be my 3rd CR-V. Honda makes a great vehicle in theory, and that's why I've owned so many. However, there are always things Honda conveniently leaves out, that twist up the loyal Honda customers. No Homelink garage door opener ($350, took 4 months to get the new mirror that has it). No cargo cover. (They were included with all my other CR-V's. I don't know where yours came from!) The dealership swears that the seats are leather. The screen is less than most other competitors, and firmware updates are all but non existent. The charging pad for the phone is wonky, at best. Wireless CarPlay has glitchy software that at times, needs a restart. It's good to have the onboard GPS (actually uses satellites), because the mobile phone people are not always that reliable, and towers are sometimes sparse. This thing has paddle shifters!! What the hell do I need with paddle shifters??!! (and, I did confirm that they are paddle shifters, and not some way to just invoke the charging system. The braking does that) This is a hybrid, not a Ferrari! And finally, there is NO SPARE TIRE!! I didn't find this out until I I watched another UA-cam video that concerned this. I have achieved 42.5 MPG during the summer, playing with it. In the colder weather, you will get more like 34-36 MPG. Thanks for the video! Well done!
I love my 2024 Honda CRV EXL! (Platinum Pearl White) It drives much better than my 2022 CRV that I traded in. I see nothing wrong or bad with the car performance at all. Also, there is more exterior room, in my opinion. It's all a matter of what you like.
Bought a 2025 Hybrid Sport-L CRV after a lot of comparisons and test drives between it and a 2024 Rav4 limited, which was the trim needed to be comparable imo. Both are nice! The back seat leg room & reclining on the CR-V were a big feature difference for me. If you plan to actually have 4 people in the vehicle for long road trips, it's hard to ignore. Rav4 all digital dash was fine but I actually prefer having the speedometer with a physical dial on the right side. Personal preference I guess. The digital rearview mirror sounded nice but I couldn't find one in my area to even see it. It's optional even on the highest trim level. Same for pano roof, which I wasn't going to get due to the reports of leaking and rattling. If I had to change things about the CR-V though it would be to find a way to get a spare tire back in and add homelink to the higher trim levels standard...and maybe fog lights. All the other Rav4 tech features weren't a factor for me( auto park, birds eye cam, ventilated Front Seats). CR-V was 4k cheaper for me too. On a 4 hour road trip did 35 mpg one way and 36 mpg back.
To answer the first question, because a plug in is as bad as a full ev car. Why wait around for something to charge when you could just go normal hybrid? And all the so called cons that competitors have like cooled seats or 360 view does nothing to make the car less likable. It is more spacious than the head hitting rav4 and a smoother ride.
I have to agree with u. The crv hybrid is smooth driving suv. Thinking about getting one but I'm curious if this engine will have carbonization issues!
@@vwrxlasvegas I was test driving cars for a few months, and i did not like anything but the CRV. Not even an Accord, which I usually love more than any other. I have a Sport L. It’s a solid car that I like, but don’t love. I feel like Honda cuts corners, and leaves out features, while charging you more, because of the Honda name. Things I dislike about this model include the loud engine, the unfriendly seats (padded ironing boards without enough adjustments), and interior rattles going over uneven pavement. Although the ride is pretty good, with all their talk of insulation, it’s still too much road noise and road feel. Having said that, I am getting 38+ in the city, I like the steering, breaking and cornering. Wireless Android Auto has been flawless and the charger has worked perfectly for me. All in all, the car is mixed bag, not the slam dunk I had hoped for.
You don't mention that the CR-V (which I was favoring over the RAV 4) DOES NOT HAVE A SPARE!!! note the hybrid has no spare because they use that space for the battery !!
@TheNickoneal70 It can NOT fit a spare in that spare area, a battery sits in there and to even open that space is to break the floor opening. People are buying aftermarket spare tire and placing it in the boot impeding trunk space which SUCKS

Excellent video. Thanks for putting it together! I checked out your channel and was a bit disappointed that you don't do any ranking videos, e.g. Best Hybrid SUV, RAV4 vs. CRV vs. Sportage, Best family sedan, etc.
The CR-V isn't more expensive than the RAV4 in practice. In fact it's 4-5k cheaper. Toyota dealers and even the company itself are charging insane markups for accessories you can't remove, and random BS. So here in AZ you may be able to get a Sport-L CR-V hybrid for under 44k, but the comparable Toyota RAV4 is over 49k out the door.
Agreed and excellent points, I noticed the OTD price between the CR-V Sport Touring and the RAV4 Limited to be around $4.5k higher. Not sure that's worth it for rear heated seats, ventilated front seats, and a 360 camera. Plus since I live in an area of the world where salt is put on the road; the concern over the RAV4 and the corrosion on the high voltage cable that is still present on the newest entries (2019-2024) (aka "cablegate"). Sure it's 'covered' under the 8 year warranty from Toyota and they did put in some mitigations in 2023 to help with the drainage and an added slash guard, but I'm not convinced it's enough to stop the corrosion but just delay it enough to get out of the warranty before it needs to be replaced. Nothing like a $6k cable expense 10 years from now just to keep the vehicle running.
Probably unlikely, at least not in this generation. I was reading somewhere that the RDX chassis was only designed to fit a four-cylinder. Which means they could potentially re-tune the current 2.0 to Type R levels , but then would an extra 30 hp be worthy of a type S badge.
We’ve had both a 2018 and 2021 Touring CRV, non hybrid. The audio system is horrible and the cabin noise during acceleration was really bad. It definitely has a lot of positives but when you pay top price it should and could be better
The pickup in the gas CRV model is not anything to write home about. The seats are comfy & well made, the body style is great, rear seat leg room is great, but the sunroof is small for the price of the car and I’m not a fan of the CVT transmission offered.
