Are you repairing that lot after one of those monster storms we had😮keeps his eye on you!good team work and fantastic company for each other on these jobs,is there a gold surcharge on this pillar!a very good bricklayer for sure out in all the seasons he can getting the job done.
Happy New year t both of you looking good as usual and tell dad he be still with us after 10 more years love watching you both so good and really funny as well
I'm watching Ben draw the mortar off the trowel and I say to myself: that lad can draw mortar off a hawk if he chooses to when he repoints. A bit of advice, use drier mortar than brick laying mortar. If you have to tamp the mix with water still keep mix on the dry side . Compaction equals strength. Better compacted before mortar starts going off. You are still doing a fine job as usual.
@Theoldbricklayer Ya I get it. I'm to far away from my boy's to go on their job's. I did get a call from one this morning with a question. It's the height of my day and after I thought . I wonder what Ben is up to. Have a great day the both of you.
OMG that awful grey sky, looks freezing cold too... same again second day grey skies at least old pavments look dry for you Eastbourne is still a nice place in summer when blue skies grace the town look forward to next job. stop throwing trowel in plastic bucket or end up leaking Malc's in Perth WA ❤ formally from Brighton
Hi- Would this wall need an expansion joint? I’m looking at constructing a short single skin 4 course outdoor brick wall myself, similar to this one and curious as to wether it would require an expansion joint.
I have a question, do you think there will continue to be a demand for brick laying in the uk? I’m a landscaper (I lay a few garden walls and steps already) thinking about changing/learning to be a proper brick layer, I’m also wondering if they will have robots doing it soon. I’d be interested to know your opinions.
Wrapped in the racing pages don't suppose it got tomorrow results lol hope you have had a lovely Xmas we are moving to a new job Monday for a week all glazed brickwork
Your dad is right about each person has their own consistency. Remember mixing finish plaster for my dad if i didn't get it right not too thick not too sloppy would threaten to chuck over me head if it wasn't right.
VATICAN MUSEUM ! Has gold jewel encrusted trowels, hammers, chisels, etc. Presented to the builders of the Cathedral ! But then had to be given back to the church! Hide that trowel mate 😊
Pointless using one rebar rod, when it starts to rust it will push bricks out like an old wall tie will do on bed joints . Nothing can stop steel rusting and expanding. One rod will not keep pier in place if hit, etc.
Im replying to old bricklayer im a 64 yearold carpenter and appracate you as a brick layer nice to see it done the old way👍👍👍🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮

Good work, now you just have to build 1.5 million homes in the next 4.5 years! Jump to it lad!!
Never gonna happen 😂😂
Good video again mate, Is it worth doing this with a 6mm steel rod for a one brick pier? I know you can’t concrete it but would help stability surely?
Anything would help . But if it’s not surrounded in concrete make sure it’s stainless steel
Happy new year to you both! Keep posting the videos in 2025!
Will do happy new year

Hi- Would this wall need an expansion joint? I’m looking at constructing a short single skin 4 course outdoor brick wall myself, similar to this one and curious as to wether it would require an expansion joint.
This is just a pier ……. Expansion joints are normally every between 6/10 meters so all depends on the length of your wall
@ Fair enough, it will be a square box so maybe 5ft each side, so I imagine given this there should be some sort of allowance for expansion ?

Robots will never work in the uk with the amount of people coming to the uk there will always be a demand for bricklayers
I could see the old Brickster closing one eye and eyeballing the rebar with a brick house corner across the way. !!lol
😂😂😂
Wrapped in the racing pages don't suppose it got tomorrow results lol hope you have had a lovely Xmas we are moving to a new job Monday for a week all glazed brickwork

How much would this very work cost to complete in Surrey?

That’s very helpful thanks
Very smart work. Lovely. 😊
