Jay Z has been rapping about selling drugs for years, but former drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross believes it's all made up.
Jay talked about his drug dealing past in a recent interview with Vanity Fair's Lisa Robinson. He said the knowledge he gained from his illegal activities would help in his latest venture as a sports agent.
"I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer," he told Robinson. "To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car wash-those were the businesses back then. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you're going to get locked up or you're going to die."
Freeway Ricky, who ran a multi-million dollar drug empire in the late 80's before getting busted called Hov out during a new interview with the Murder Master Music Show,
"I've been hitting these high schools up letting them know about these dudes that's out here faking. Talking about they sold dope. And you read that sh*t and it's so corny," Ross said. "I was just reading on the airplane the other day the Vanity Fair with Jay Z in it, talking about he sold crack. Just reading that story was so corny. These dudes don't keep it 100. They was good boys and went to school and got college degrees. Somebody gave them a good job and they're doing alright right now. Everybody wanna be d-boys, but they don't have real d-boy stories. When you read what they said it looks like a news reporter wrote it for them."
Freeway Ricky was even more harsh in his assessment of rapper Rick Ross.
"I believe [rapper Ross] is being financed by the police unions to keep spreading bullsh*t to the youngsters, so they can keep filling up the penitentiaries ," Freeway continued. "Because he ain't selling no music. They keep playing him on the radio and keep putting out these big expensive videos, but he ain't selling no music. So somebody is hitting off money. I believe it's the police unions behind it."

More and more rappers are getting exposed. I heard that Tyga isn't from Compton, Drake didn't "start from the bottom", Lil Wayne isn't a real Blood, Game was a stripper and his brother said he was never in a gang. Looks like 50 Cent has the most street credibility, as well as people who can back that up.

FYI... Rap music (just like any genre of music) is just entertainment. Who cares whether an actor, rapper or singer is really living the life they portray in film or in music.. They are simply entertainers doing what they're paid to do. We gotta learn how to separate fiction from reality... The only people who are butthurt over the fact that their favorite rapper is fake, are the people who invest too much time into glorifying drug dealers and the drug game. No real killer and/or drug dealer would rap about things they've done.. Especially if they've never been caught and/or served time for it. Just take music for what it is... Just entertainment.

Maybe jay z and his contemporaries wasnt the scarface crime bosses they portray in they music but it's not far fetched to believe he sold drugs in 80s and 90s. Jay Z and crew came into the game with near 100k collectively which is what gave them skin in the game and leverage for the label to take a chance on them but of course he was not on Freeways level and I think Freeway doesn’t like it because he actually was BIG time in the streets and doesn’t appreciate Jay-Z glorifying a life he didn’t even stay in long enough too become big time. It’s like starting a business and shutting it down after making 100K claiming to be a business Guru but regardless you have to give Jay-Z credit for taking his initial investment into himself and becoming a Billionaire legitimately.

Ricky Donnell Ross (born May 3, 1960), better known as "Freeway" Rick Ross, is an American author and convicted drug trafficker best known for the drug empire he established in Los Angeles, California, in the early to mid 1980s.
Ross attended high school at Susan Miller Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. He played for the tennis team but was unable to get a college scholarship because he was illiterate.
Ross has said that when he first saw crack-cocaine as a teenager in 1979, he did not immediately believe it was a drug because it looked different from other drugs he had seen.
The nickname Freeway came from Ross' owning properties along the Los Angeles Harbor Freeway and living next to the 110. According to an October 2013 Esquire magazine article, "Between 1982 and 1989, federal prosecutors estimated, Ross bought and resold several metric tons of cocaine. In 1980 dollars, his gross earnings were said to be in excess of $900 million - with a profit of nearly $300 million. Converted roughly to present-day dollars: 2.5 billion gross, and $850 million in profit, respectively.” During the height of his drug dealing, Ross was said to have sold "$3 million in one day." According to the Oakland Tribune, "In the course of his rise, prosecutors estimate that Ross exported several tons of cocaine to New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and elsewhere, and made more than $600 million between 1983 and 1984."
In 1996, Ross was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted for purchasing more than 100 kilograms of cocaine from a federal agent in a sting operation. Later that year, a series of articles by journalist Gary Webb in the San Jose Mercury News revealed a connection between one of Ross's cocaine sources, Danilo Blandón, and the CIA as part of the Iran-Contra scandal. Ross's case was brought to a federal court of appeals which reduced his sentence to 20 years as a result of Ross being over-sentenced. He was released from custody on September 29, 2009.
After 5 years of out prison, Freeway Rick Ross says he has found redemption.
Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography is an intimate look at the day-to-day dealings of a drug kingpin in the heart of the ghetto. It's also the story of a boy born in poverty Texas who grew up in a single-parent household in the heart of South Central, who was pushed through the school system each year and came out illiterate. His options were few, and he turned to drug dealing. This Untold Autobiography is not only personal, but also historical in its implications. Rick Ross chronicles the times by highlighting the social climate that made crack cocaine so desirable, and he points out that at the time, the “cops in the area didn't know what crack was; they didn't associate the small white rocks they saw on homies as illegal drugs.” All Rick Ross knew was people wanted it.
Not to past judgment of Freeway Rick Ross, he now says that all he knew was that the people wanted the crack; yes, were addicted to the crack that he was killing them with.
But just home many people did Freeway Rick Ross killed in his nearly $1 billion cocaine trafficking business? From 1982 to 1989, thousands of people died or where killed directly related to Freeway Rick Ross cocaine trafficking business. So how does one truly repent for being responsible for thousands of individuals demise? Can one truly rectify with Almighty God a holocaust that one brought to the black community?
For me, I'm not feeling Freeway Rick Ross. But Bro. Ross doesn't have to answer to me. He has nothing to prove to me though he hasn't inspired me to read his book. Personally, I am not interested in reading an intimate look at the day-to-day dealings of a drug kingpin although I unequivocally believe that "Freeway" was responsible for the death of thousands.
No! At 54 years of age, Freeway Rick Ross should not be pushing "his" book entitled: Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography. But rather, Freeway Rick Ross should be pushing the way to true salvation by reading the Bible daily.
That way we can avail ourselves of the ransom sacrifice of Christ Jesus. Yes! His perfect BLOOD that bought as well as brought us out of sin and death.
Yes! True redemption is not about US. It is not about us trying to push books, CDs, DVDs, and even the so-called religious retreats that the televangelist pimps are promoting 24/7/365.
So Freeway Rick Ross, if you want to write a book, write one about how you have truly repented for the thousands of lives that you have taken, and have assisted the police and federal authorities in cold-case murders so that the countless victims' families can have some closure.
Remember, Almighty God knows all things, even if people who claim the have redemption but are really trying to make a profit.
    Hebrews 4:13
    New International Version
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
    New Living Translation
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
    English Standard Version
And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
    New American Standard Bible
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

first off Free Way Ricky Ross need to shut up because the truth is he was not the biggest cocaine dealer in California History. It was George Jung the white dude who had ties to Pablo Escobar who was Cali biggest Cocaine dealer. so Ross is getting credit for being a big shot when he had no connections to Pablo or Columbia
