Perfect timing. We set up a 40 gallon 10 days ago. Added Fritz Turbo start and ammonia. Ammonia was at 0 two days later but nitrites high and not dropping much a week later. Do we just wait some more or is there something to speed it up? Love your videos by the way.

If the nitrites are over 5ppm, do a 50% water change to bring them down, then add more Fritz! Thanks for watching!

The presence of nitrites will falsely skew the nitrate test. If you truly have 50ppm nitrites your cycle has stalled. You'll have to perform a massive water change to get the nitrites below 5ppm, Id prefer to see them around 2ppm. 90% water change should do about that. The percentage is direct. 50ppm nitrites with a 50% water change becomes 25ppm nitrites. So you see why you need to do more than that.
After you have done a significant water change let the tank run 6 hours, then test the nitrites. If its below 5ppm, add more beneficial bacteria, and wait it out. If its not below 5ppm, youll have to perform another water change to get it below, then continue.

My Ammonia gets converted within 48h, but my Nitrite still stays high, even after 2 weeks of using Fritz fishless fuel and Fritz turbo start 700. I tested my tap water and noticed 2ppm levels in my tap water. How do I deal with that before adding it to the tank?

The easiest way will be to install an RODI filter in your home. I recomment this one. Itll strip everything from the water.

My nitrates are 25 my phosphate is 0.03, when i lower my nitrates my phosphate also drops. If you dont watchout corals may bleach. I dose phosphate and use vinegar to lower it my nitrates have bin 50 for 2 years now i have corals growing for a year and some sps. I lower nitrates 5 per month. I do 10 procent waterchange a month
