Name brand clothes, especially, have high value as they age. Just like shoes and such. Also, the store has to make a profit - they know the value of the items they sell. They've most likely been appraised. Someone on eBay probably doesn't know the true value of their antiques and are more than willing to just get rid of the items. Which would be good for the buyer, yeah.
I like shopping for used clothes in Goodwill and other thrift stores, but you have to dig through a lot of clothes to find something great that works for you. The benefit of a store like that is that it will all be high quality clothing that's clean, good condition, and stylish. It's a bit bougie, but some people have the money and consider that to be worth the expense (and the rest of us can be more resourceful for vintage finds).

They don't have thrift stores like they do in America over there. So, when we can find a vintage 90's striped tee for $3 it will sell for around 50 over there. To get real vintage Tommy, Ralph Lauren and stuff like that you have to get them in America and then take them back to your country and mark up the value to make money.
