- This is our last Disney trip of the year! We head to Magic Kingdom to try to finish our task of completing all of the attractions, shows and offerings at one park in 2023. Can we do it? Watch till the end to find out! We did so much on this trip! We rope dropped, which I don't think we did at all this year, so this was a fun way tot start the day! We watched the opening castle show, saw Hall of Presidents, did Monster's Inc Laugh Floor, tried to do Casey Jr. Splash & Soak, experienced Enchanted Tales with Belle from Beauty & the Beast and we also completed the Pirates League Game! I met Tim that day at the TTC and he was so lovely! I was right behind him in the security line and got stuck in bag check, and he waited for me to get through to take a picture!! I am actually with the family taking the photo at 3:18. Thank you so much, meeting you was a highlight of my Magic Kingdom day!
Before the pandemic, they did the opening show at the front of the train station. It felt so much more magical, seeing the characters ride in on the train. ❤
It actually had not been done at the train station for a number of years before 2020.

I didn't realize they have Mickey and Minnies that blinked and spoke like that. Donald and Daisy were animated too. That's seriously next level, love it.

I remember when they used to greet you outside the turnstile. The train would pull up with the characters and they’d do a show to welcome you into the park. That really was the way for a first timer to experience being welcomed into the Magic Kingdom it was so magical and really got you so pumped to enter the park and start doing all the things.
That was the perfect experience for Casey Jr. 😂

I love park opening! If I lived in Orlando and had an AP, I'd rope drop all the time. Hit the parks for a few hours (maybe ride rides, or just drink coffee and people watch) and then head out.

In all my Disney-going years, I have never managed to pull myself out of bed early enough for rope drop/the welcome show. Thank you for sharing, and happy (early) New Year!
Lol...opposite. We are early birds in normal life, so we always rope drop. But we have never been in the parks to see fireworks. We have only seen them from a bus or our resort.
When I did my college program at Disney and then eventually full time I think I only did rope drop once lol 😅 the other time I was working during rope drop on main Street USA. And I was working there for 3 years too haha

I love the info on A PIRATE'S ADVENTURE. I hadn't heard or noticed it before. I'm going to Disney World in a few weeks and now I'm gonna try this for sure.
The splash area must be considered a failure, otherwise you could pretend to do a ride just by looking at it. And the water would have to come from the attraction.
I've always said it's impossible to do everything at MK in one trip. Evidently, it takes a year.

The last time I watched the opening show was in 2017 and I see it’s changed some. When we went, it was my goddaughter’s first time and the fairy godmother came out of a window at the top of the castle and we had to say “bipidi boppity boo” in order to “open” the kingdom. Hearing all those little kids around me saying that and then the fireworks shoot off had me blubbering like a baby. Kinda wish they still had that part in the show ❤️ Happy New Year!🎆🎊
When my super shy nervous son was four he was the beef ragu in the Enchanted Tales with Belle! One of our favorite memories!

Oh I was in MK on Friday as well. I had a grand time by myself while my husband rested. I also went to The Grand Floridian to see the Gingerbread House.

Awesome to see how empty the park is at rope drop, even on a super busy day. Will def do that - planning our first visit 😉 (omg will need to get over west to east jet lag first tho!)
For the splash and play area. You experienced it. It was just a dry experience. Lol. My kids love this area and we try to avoid it. Hahaha
People who wore a winter coat are from the tropical countries like me. Because I wore the coat 6 years ago since it's freezing cold unlike my cousin who had lived in Chicago for years. He said the weather is perfect for swimming. 😅
That door with the belle show has been on the Fritz for a while. Sometimes they give up on the door and simply manually open the door to let you in skipping the entire mirror scene. It’s not the projection, it’s actually the mechanical aspect of the door that isn’t working with it popping out, it’s something with the motor or chain or something in there that is breaking down and making the door get stuck in a single position. It’s been happening the entire year and yet it hasn’t been fixed at all.

Technically the CM's don't drop the rope to the ground because they would be a trip hazard and not be safe. They roll it up a minute before and tell the guests to wait
