- A 4-minute "from scratch" jam for the 2nd video of 2024! 😄
• From Scratch
The Arturia Keystep Pro is sequencing 3 instruments out of 4 used here:
- the bassline is being played by the JU06A through the Strymon Deco v2,
- the synth riff by the JD08
- the drums by the TR6S (no samples used here, only the ACB=Analog Behavior Engine 🤩 with the VINYL SIM on the master bus heavily compressing the drums)
The lead is being played in real-time on the small S1, through the Analog Heat analog distortion, Rooms reverb and Pill ducking pedal.
The setup needed some underactions before the recording which was done in one shot here. Hence, the lengths and scale of the patterns were set before, as the drums, bass, synth, lead sounds, etc.
Then the recording was done in one shot, using different recording modes available on the Keystep Pro (STEP and REAL TIME recording) and the patterns were transposed live using the handy "Transpose Latch" new feature in firmware v2.0 😀

- Roland JU-06A (4-voice digital synth) + Strymon Deco 2 (tape saturation and doubletracker) pedal.

- Roland TR-6S (digital rhythm performer drum machine) with latest v2.0 firmware using the CR-78 (Analog Circuit Behavior engine = no samples 😉).
• TR-6S (Roland)
// LEAD:
- Roland S-1 (4-voice digital synth, inspired by the famous mono synth SH-101) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by a gate signal sent from the DRUM track of the Keystep Pro).

Thanks for your kind words 😃🙏 I don't know if this format is appropriate for Spotify (I.E. the first minute can seem a bit long if you hear only the audio without the video / text). Should do some edit version may be to share my tracks on online platforms (I've been thinking for quite some times to make an EP nay an album - even if it's probably an old-school move 😅 but must find quite some time to do something nice 😊)

How you sequence all that hardware over USB? Im new to this and it baffles me. Software?
Actually not everything is sequenced over USB 😉 The JU-06A (Bass) and JD-08 (Synth) are connected by classic 5-DIN MIDI cables. However you're right, the Keystep Pro and TR-6S are connected over USB using my DAW like a MIDI hub (Ableton Live). But if you don't want to use a DAW and stay full hardware it's possible by using 5-DIN MIDI cables between these 4 instruments (Keystep Pro, JU-06A, JD-08 and TR-6S) for example. It really depends on your needs/goals.
