You could almost say that Rachel is gathering a fellowship of dogs...I'm okay with this, because Gandalf had a ruffled robe that changed appearance just as suddenly as this dress can. XD 💜💙🖤
Guess you haven't yet heard of snap tape? You often find it in the legs of baby clothes so you have easy access for changing diapers. It's two pieces of twill tape, one side having the male snap half and the other side has the female snap half. You sew it in using the zipper foot. It does make putting lots of snaps in a garment a little easier and less achy hands . Probably would have worked well around the ruffle. The dress turned out very cute. It was a novel idea and you made it work.
The best thing about this video is that she's so happy and excited about the project. And then that success... what a win. Happy 30th birthday, Rachel!
This dress with all the additions attached feels very "summer derby" to me, I love it :D On a broader note, I have loved all of your "self-indulgent" projects!! I was a bit worried a few months ago when you seemed very downtrodden about your projects and making things "for the masses" but you seem to have sprung back and I'm glad! Don't ever feel guilty about doing projects for yourself or to enjoy them, that's half the reason you've got almost 1M subscribers! (the other half is 25% your humor and 25% frodo) I've been a subscriber for 3 or 4 years now, and your upload schedule is one of the few that I have memorized and look forward to watching ❤ Keep being awesome!
Happy birthday Rachel, I’m 61 and I can assure you that you become more “yourself” as the years go by. Great project! I look forward to the next one. Congratulations on the milestone of 30!
This video makes the creative side of my brain go "Imagine doing this to ALL garments from now on! Make one dress but 10 differens ruffles and 15 different sleeves. And then you can make another dress, BUT USE THE RUFFLES AND SLEEVES THAT YOU ALREADY MADE". Wild! The possibilities are endless!
I watched this with my mom and I wanted to share her comments. "Wow she's a great seamstress. That dress is so cute! She did a great job." Happy Birthday, Rachel!
Happy birthday! This was such a stinking cute project! The dogs multiplying was the best surprise! I love their universal need to lay on the patterns. Truly understood the assignment.
I'm just imagining a vintage spy movie where this woman gets caught on a covert mission and has to transform into action mode and just rips off her flouncy dress accessories to reveal a no-nonsense dress for escape! Amazing project Rachel
Rachel, I turned 30 last September and felt the shift from “I-am-excited-to-finally-be-in-my-30s-and-be-settled” to “Holy smokes, now I’m 30. Permanently.” Then I remembered we were 29 together, so if when you turned 30 it would be cool because you’re cool and I felt 100% better. 😂
Sooo many doggos! First i thought frodo had a bleach. But then he showed up with other buddy's! Very cute. But more important, beautiful dress, very much swoosh! And hope you had a lovely birthday! Love you and you video's
I haven’t gotten to the explanation I. The video yet but my guess is that Rachel has an open invitation for all the neighbours hounds to come over and hang 🤣 Frodo has buddies!?
Happy birthday Rachel! My favorite part of this video may just be the myriad of foreign dogs appearing without any explanation ever given from Rachel. Beautiful dress! Thank you!
I feel like this dress is perfect for a nice dinner followed by a walk on a beach! If you’re just stowing the ruffle in the car so it doesn’t get covered in sand (coarse, rough, gets everywhere) it’s pretty darn practical! Happy birthday!
The amount of satisfaction I get from watching the Frodo feetsies in the cutaways for Rachel putting the fabric pieces together can not be overstated. Quality Content (TM).
my little brother was known for dressing up in costumes for school photos, and for prom we prepared a full tear-away suit so he could arrive in a suit, rip it off, and be wearing his toy story woody costume underneath. lots of fun

I cannot help myself: please don't apologize for getting paid to make this free content! Your sponsor reads always comprise such a small percentage of your overall video, too. You've cultivated such a lovely space here that I have a hard time imagining people getting salty about 30-60 seconds of sponsored reads in your 20-30 minute videos. But to anyone who does have the audacity to be salty.. can I gently remind you that this is entirely free???? Anyway, Rachel: you are great, your content is great, and you deserve to get paid for it. ok cool bye
"Are you a human that purely survives thinking about their next meal..." I'd say that pretty much would go along with the hobbitcore lifestyle. LOL Very fun video! (P.S. Two words of advice if you ever do this again: snap tape 😉)
Practicality definitely isn't underrated when it comes to clothing - we tend to forget this is ultimately about keeping you safe and warm from the weather conditions! Now you turned a vintage outfit into a modern one in - what? 30 seconds? If that isn't an accomplishment, I don't know what is. Happy birthday! :)
Having recently done an 18m (60ft) rolled hem on a tiered petticoat thing, I sympathise heavily with "sixty-four years". The fabric choice turned out so well - the contrast totally totally worked, and it would not have been as good with a yellow ruffle. Loved it! Hope you had a great birthday and are enjoying your thirties.
The sleeves choice was spot on. Perfect for the overall "dress" design. Would be equally cute on the top/Skirt minus the ruffle. Or just on the crop top with some denim 40s play suit shorts. Or just regular jean shorts. Great job!
I LITERALLY have been researching for the past month how to create a transformable capsule wardrobe. THANK YOU for being the Goddess of Serendipity and great ideas 😍😍😍 Happy birthday as well 😁😁🥳🎂🎉
I can tell you that tear away pants are still very much alive…in theatre! Same goes for tear away dresses. I actually just had to alter a dress to make it tear away (with magnets) for one of my college’s recent shows
1. Anyone and everyone who has moved AND renovated an older house has an existential crisis, and 2. the intro where you are talking to 3 versions of yourself all wearing the same shirt made my Friday! 🤣
My one experience with tearaway pants happened when I was a lowly freshman in high school and one of the seniors decided he needed to dash into my English class, hop up on a desk, and tear his pants off and twirl them over his head. I think he was wearing either shorts or boxers underneath, so it wasn't too traumatizing, but he was definitely single-handedly responsible for getting tearaway pants banned in the next year's dress code.
lol, that's hilarious. My only high school experiences with tearaway pants were the sports team kids tearing away the below-knee portion of their pants as the day warmed up.
This dress/ ensemble turned out so nice! The skirt is perfectly swooshy and it looks great on you! Yellow goes really nicely with your new darker hair colour. Also, I usually skip the ads, but that moss top is so cute I kept watching, haha. Happy birthday! I'm 31 and yeah, it's great.
About the sponsors: every time I see a sponsored video from you I think “Yay!!! Congratulations on the money!!!! You keep being awesome!!!!” Also, I envy your DIY abilities!
This is like a Victorian version of burlesque! Show your shoulders, a little bit of ankle and a little midriff and you’ll have folk fainting from the scandalous performance! (I love the dress so much! Great job!)
This is a really great concept-as someone who overheats randomly (thanks, autoimmune disease!), transforming clothes I can adjust based on whether my internal thermostat is trying to kill me. I’d love to see you revisit this, fixing the sleeves, and also just for other clothing styles/seasons. Could you have a shirt with short(er) and longer sleeves? What about summer and winter sleeves? Could you overlay a sweater material on the front half of a shirt, plus sweater sleeves? Could you do multiple length skirts? What happens if you add lace? Would snapping in a winter lining be thinner at the waist than a second skirt, or pants? Could you snap a skirt TO pant liners? There are lots of options here, and I think it would be fun to see this continue as a series! Rachel Snaps Through a Year (or even go for a more Thanos-y pun).
Came here for the vibes, but immediately got stuck on the filing cabinet which holds patterns. That is so cool! Did you make that? How do I make that?? Edit: also where did all these dogs come from??
this is my favorite thing you've ever made! Ugh i want you collab with a clothing place to make it a thing someone could buy! ALSO why is Frodo multiplying into progressively smaller and lighter colored versions of himself
Also turned 30 this year! As a fellow Birthday year friend I can 100% agree getting older is a real pleasure! My 20s were garbage and my 30s are already shaping up to be fantastic! Getting older is great guys and don't let anyone tell you different.
As someone who has snap-away pants still, I love this dress even more. As with everything you make, it was beautiful. Have a Happy Birthday!!! One question though.... Where did these new dogs come from? I am confusion.
Happy birthday Rachel! The dress is awesome, I love how yellow looks on you ❤️ Side question: are those dogs all yours now? Did you start a doggy daycare? Was it a doggo party? I need answers 😄
I love this! As someone who is living through New England mud season, having a removable ruffle would save so much laundry. Being able to spot treat or replace the ruffle for style changes is marvelous! A+ For the ruffle change, I think I’d fashion a maybe a bustle pouch sleeve/ruffle holder. Maybe fashion it like a bunny so it bounces along at my side.
I think this requires more than two words, frog hunting requires a whole paragraph to describe what you are talking about. Is that an idiom, or is it literal frog hunting? And who hunts frogs?

You could almost say that Rachel is gathering a fellowship of dogs...I'm okay with this, because Gandalf had a ruffled robe that changed appearance just as suddenly as this dress can. XD 💜💙🖤
Yes, maybe it's been a while and I notice her dog has multiplied itself.

This is such an amazing "spring to summer" transformation outfit. Also, proof positive that fabric on floor = furry friend love by the tonne.
Happy Birthday Rachel!!!
...also, anyone else wondering about the random dogs? 😂 was Frodo having a play date?
My first thought was Sam!! The other dog is blonde, lil shaggy, and Frodo's bud!!
Okay I just got further into the video.... So many dogs!!
The way she just DIDNT explain the reasoning behind the surplus of additional friends in her home lol

Happy birthday! This was such a stinking cute project! The dogs multiplying was the best surprise! I love their universal need to lay on the patterns. Truly understood the assignment.
You can have a sponsor on every video. Doesn’t bother me at all. Many UA-camrs do AND Frodo has gotten used to the good life 😆🤣❤️
I'm just imagining a vintage spy movie where this woman gets caught on a covert mission and has to transform into action mode and just rips off her flouncy dress accessories to reveal a no-nonsense dress for escape! Amazing project Rachel
They did that in the Barbie Three Musketeers movie, actually
@@sarahmcneill1237 so true yet another instance of Barbie being ahead of her time

I also thought Frodo had went blonde 😆

I feel like this dress is perfect for a nice dinner followed by a walk on a beach! If you’re just stowing the ruffle in the car so it doesn’t get covered in sand (coarse, rough, gets everywhere) it’s pretty darn practical! Happy birthday!
This is perfect for changing out hems/ruffles for walking skirts to be washed or just for fashion purposes. I love this idea.

The amount of satisfaction I get from watching the Frodo feetsies in the cutaways for Rachel putting the fabric pieces together can not be overstated. Quality Content (TM).
my little brother was known for dressing up in costumes for school photos, and for prom we prepared a full tear-away suit so he could arrive in a suit, rip it off, and be wearing his toy story woody costume underneath. lots of fun

I know you’re in a weird headspace rn and I feel that too. I wanted you to know that truth be told, you’re 95% of the reason I come on UA-cam. I think you’re relatable and the works you create inspire me to make as well! As always, make space and take time for yourself. I hope you have a lovely birthday! 🎂
Replying to this to say the same thing! Rachel, your videos are the highlight of my Saturday mornings (I’m in the UK) and my sewing list has grown exponentially because of all the cool things you make. This little corner of UA-cam is such a happy, creative, gentle space that brings a lot of joy ❤️
This is genuinely such a cool concept. Imagine traveling with a dress that has removable sleeves! Having a skirt and top out of this outfit too!! SO COOL

Do you want to accept Islam as your religion?
I came here with the same intention, to impart the wisdom of those 2 simple words: Snap Tape
You could wear dress option #1 to a wedding and dress option #2 for the reception (just stash the ruffle in your car trunk). Happy belated Birthday!
Great job!
The more I see Rachel's dark hair, the more I like it. It's such a flattering and versatile color!
Even if you never feel the call to transform mid-outing, this gives you four different garments that you can match with other things as well!
I love your term "swooshability" for skirts, my favorite part too!
I actually just had to alter a dress to make it tear away (with magnets) for one of my college’s recent shows
The extra removed ruffle: that's what the matching tote is for. Shoulder strap, or waist line belt or 18c style hidden pockets/rump roll.
"projects living in my headspace" oh, I feel that one....
love the hair color, it really brings out your eyes!
This dress is the cottagecore cousin to Morgan Donner's shenanigan pants ✨

The fact that you could litteraly have different sets of sleeves and ruffle to make endless possibilities is absolute genius

I love this! As someone who is living through New England mud season, having a removable ruffle would save so much laundry. Being able to spot treat or replace the ruffle for style changes is marvelous! A+
For the ruffle change, I think I’d fashion a maybe a bustle pouch sleeve/ruffle holder. Maybe fashion it like a bunny so it bounces along at my side.
Ok this is such a fun idea! I would HATE having to snap that ruffle back on but like. It's so good.

I think this requires more than two words, frog hunting requires a whole paragraph to describe what you are talking about. Is that an idiom, or is it literal frog hunting? And who hunts frogs?
