    I don't think Fiore Siano was killed because of Valahi's testimony, he was a loyal soldier who performed two hits given to him by Mob heavyweights, that does earn you points. What got him killed was the drug pinch he served and his Capo finding out that he was dealing once again. You get pinched a second time dealing large amounts of hard drugs, you will get a long sentence and uncle Joe turning informant on a lot of Mob heavy weights only meant that Fiore could do the same thing if he was pinched on a narco charge again. For what he did and what he knew, he could have done some serious damage to the Mob too if he were to have ever turned informant, plus, I'm sure his Capo told him to stop dealing drugs and that's the way it goes some times.

      I don't think so, he did a hard drug charge and when he was released he was back dealing coke & H once again, if he were to busted again he would have had to do some serious time. Look at what uncle Joe just did when he was facing serious time, he was a liability that was too much of a risk to keep around.

    Another kick ass story! Great historical tale with some interesting original research. Interesting tidbit - Patsy's Pizzeria is 1 of the oldest pizza joints in NYC since 1933! That home run ball is still flying down East 161st in the Bronx brother. Given the besmirched reputation of his Sponsor and being a blood relative, poor Fiore got clipped by the Greenwich Village crew. The lupara bianca (white shotgun) is usually reserved for informant members who bring shame to the cosa nostra family by punishing the victims biological family by denying them a body for burial.

    Fascinating. It seems like when a member gets killed, it’s often for a build up of different infractions, rather than just one cause. That’s why there are often conflicting reports of the reason. One guy is aware of one reason, another of another reason, etc. But they may all be true. Given what his uncle had just done, this guy should have been making double triple sure not to be pissing the bosses off for any other reason.

    Does anyone remember Valachi's paraphrase of Don Vito's Apple story? It's in his congressional testimony. In a(n) very LONG winded effort; Joe retells a story about a 'touched' apple. I’ve always heard Carlo Gambino leant him money for a major narcotics operation but it got raided and he couldn’t pay the money back so Carlo took him out to get funzi in, in which case it would be quite hypocritical to get fiore killed for dealing but who knows. I wonder what other theories you could find if you looked closer into that.

    A lot of these old Genovese stories seem to involve Thomas Eboli in some way or another, Looking forward to your life and death story of this mafiosi. He was one hundred percent behind Benny Lombardo becoming boss but theres no way he would have been murdered without Lombardo's okay.

    They didn't have trust in he's bloodline after that testimony

    I didn't know Joe Valachi had a Nephew in the mob. To be a "successful" gangster, you have to be more than a one trick pony. Fury, seems like a knuckledragger. Letting his hands, do all of his thinking.
    Thomas Eboli, seemed pretty cagey. Even though Fury was young, the plush conditions the Mafia had in prisons, and should be able to handle a 10 year stretch... All thing's considered, why take the chance.
    I am in CONSTANT disbelief that the volume of Joe Valachi's testimony, resulted in not one arrest!

  • @GrahamNessPasyer

    Nope. Not because of drugs. Definitely because of his uncle. But it certainly gave the powers to be, a little extra reason to kill him.

    Eboli and Valachi, from what I've read, were none too fond of each other anyway, and being a rat's blood in addition to any unauthorized side hustle would have been enough to justify Siano's murder. That crew had a lot of spite.

    10:13 Carmen Persico part of Luciano/Genovese family? He's in the far right column. I always thought he was Profaci/Colombo from day one. Is this FBI list based on what Valachi thought he knew and they went with it, or is it just an early day error? It may be correct, I don't know, this is the first time I ever hear of The Snake being part of the Genovese family.

    • @OCSHORTZ
      @OCSHORTZ  Рік тому +1

      Yes it is a famous error on the chart. There are a few on the charts they produced at that time. For example, they also have Anthony Caponigro listed as Genovese instead of Philadelphia.

    Joe Valachi was a black stain on the Genovese family reputation, this wouldn't have done his nephew any favours, dealing junk on top of this he would have to go. Nice to see photo's of Tony Bender Strollo and Ana Genovese, not see any before.
