George of the Jungle is NOT a Tarzan ripoff. It is a spoof. The film is based on a cartoon that was created to poke fun at the Tarzan story.
I actually said this too they really don't understand what a parody is
Or they do, and calling it a ripoff was as snarky as their reference to Furlong being too washed up and drug-hazed for T3. Just another joke that lands a bit flat.
@@davidalan528 it's not only landing flat it literally fell off the curve and hit the fucking road that's how stupid that joke was
I mean, his best friend is an ape named “Ape” people shouldn’t be surprised it’s parody.
Came here to comment this. What a stupid fucking thing to call it a ripoff. It's clearly a parody.
Calling George of the Jungle a rip-off of Tarzan is like calling Austin Powers a rip-off of James Bond
Austin Powers isn’t a rip off of James Bond?
@@Lutherstrode17492
Parodies and rip offs are two different things
Michael Keaton was a great Bruce Wayne. His awkward and befuddled character was a contrast to his Batman, which is completely genius
Keaton famously remarked (as he was initially intimidated by the role). "Once I got Bruce Wayne down, Batman came easy." Wich is why: HE IS BATMAN.
@@williamdixon-gk2sk Bale is my favourite Batman.
@bluerisk yea, but who is your favorite Bruce Wayne?
@@williamdixon-gk2skRobert Pattinson surprisingly
@@blueriskI grew up with Keaton as Batman. Not to take away from Bale any. But Keaton coming back in The Flash made me get out of my chair and cheer.
George of the Jungle wasn’t a Tarzan knock off, I was originally a Saturday morning cartoon parody of Tarzan.
For me it was almost the entire cast for Mortal Kombat Annihilation
Yeah that movie was such a let down
There was a good movie hidden in it..... We'll never see it but it was there😂
At least they kept the actor who played Liu Kang.
YEAH!! RIGHT ON!! LET'S GOOOO!! You think Swollen Members are the kings of rap.
Well I think there is one redeeming quality, one diamond in the ruff that was good even though it didn't quite save MKA's horribleness and that was Sonia better Sonia than in the first MK.
Norman Reedus (just off of Blade 2) could have been a perfect replacement for Edward Furlong in Terminator 3, and still could be a great John Connor in a future sequel.
Edward furlong and norman reedus do look a like it could have worked
i could have seen that, Reedus had more or less just started, Nick Stahl the only reason he was even there was cause Furlong asked him too and Furlong was in jail or whatever at the time, so they had to find someone that looked like John Connor
also Salvation was actually a success, lot of people liked it and Bale's Performance sure it had it's cringe moments but it did better than Rise of the Machines, now do not get me on about Genisys.....yeah also Dark Fate did better than Rise and i liked that movie but with rest of the Fans it is what it is
That's the best suggestion for an alternate John Conner I've ever heard. He had also done Boondock Saints by then and proved he could be a badass everyman pushed to the brink. Legit missed opportunity.
Reedus and Furlong were boys in American History X and Detroit Rock City by that time… maybe the shared movies could have been a factor for why not
If you think George Lazenby cannot act, you didn't watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service, especially the "falling in love" scenes in which you believe his Bond and Tracey have great chemistry despite behind the scenes lack of chemistry between Lazenby and Rigg, and the heartbroken Bond after Tracey's death where the audience can feel Bond's pain. The rest of the list is correct.
Yeah, i love his depictipn of Bond, more human and relatable. I dont think the stone cold killer Sean Connery Bond would have worked in OHMSS. The Connery style of Bond is perfect in From Russia With Love (My favorite Connery era film)
I agree with you on this one.
Agree. The movie was pretty bad, but it was the plot and dialogue (particularly Bloefeld's lines) that sucked. The romance was very sweet, the end heartbreaking and Lazenby played surprisingly well.
The final is Bond trying to express his grief through his usual detachment to death.
He's definitely acceptable, but he pales in comparison to Connery, who would have been a tough act for ANYONE to follow. He probably made it easier for Roger Moore to fully assume the role.
I didn't think that George Clooney was a bad pick for Batman, not the best pick but he was alright. I feel he was a better Bruce Wayne than Batman. He had that charm that Bruce Wayne put on to throw people off that he was Batman. I honestly think that a better script and a different tonal direction would have made that movie better. Clooney brought the campiness because that what he was told to do, I don't blame him for following the directors orders.
You hit the nail on the head! Anybody could play Superman, Batman, or Spiderman, but it takes a special actor to play Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, or Peter Parker. I don't care about dceu vs. mcu bullshit, I just want a good comic book movie
Totally agree. The only point I would add is that in a business full of arrogance and unaccountability, I've always thought it was classy that Clooney has always seemed to sincerely take the blame for the failure of "Batman & Robin." I don't even think it was his fault but I think it shows character to say, "The buck stops with me."
Very well put, and accurate.
I definitely think I remember people making fun of the bad effects and costumes and the sudden more campy vibe that audiences and fans of the previous movies were used to were definitely what I heard was wrong with the film not the casting. Like I don't remember anybody complaining about that beyond Arnold
THIS!!!!!!!!
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Had they got Michael Keaton to return to the role for Batman and Robin, but maintained the same screenplay, the same direction, the same corny BS that everyone hated in the movie, the movie would have sucked just as bad, only with Michael Keaton in the role of Batman.
The same goes for Halle Berry as Cat Woman. Had they got Michelle Pfeiffer to play the part, but maintained the same crappy screenplay, the same crappy direction, the same crappy CGI, etc, they would have had the exact same crappy Cat Woman movie, only with Michelle Pfeiffer in the lead role.
Incidentally, the way George Clooney ended up playing Batman in Batman and Robin is how I was afraid that Michael Keaton (who was best known for comedies like Beetlejuice, Mister Mom, Gung Ho, etc, at the time) was going to portray Batman in the first Batman movie from this particular franchise.
I've heard that Edward Furlong was dealing with drug addiction issues at the time, so that's why he was replaced for T3 with Nick Stahl (who turned out to have addiction problems as well).
I've heard Furlong was actually in jail at at critical time of casting
On Her Majesty's Secret Service Is one of my favorite Bond movies. I like George Lazenby as James Bond, he feel relatable, at the end of the film you really feel his pain and sadness. Connery was a way better actor, there Is no doubt. But i prefer a thousand times Lazenby in OHMSS than Connery phoning it in Diamonds Are Forever, or worse, Never Say Never Again
Same! I really enjoyed it. It was one of the better early Bond films IMO
Same! I really enjoyed it. It was one of the better early Bond films IMO
Live and let die is my favourite film of the series but I think OHMSS has the best story of all the bond films. I also believe that time has made people realise that Lazenby wasn't as bad a Bond as was made out at the time.
George and the jungle is not a Tarzan ripoff it's a Tarzan parody do you call Austin powers a James bond ripoff no it's not it's a parody of it
George of the jungle is an all time classic.
George of the Jungle is a spoof and not a rip off and did the person who wrote this really badmouth Adam West and Michael Keaton Batman
seriously!? that is stupid
I'm still annoyed that they didn't cast wrestling legend King Kong Bundy as The Blob. He was born to play that character
T3 was an underwhelming movie but I had no problem with Nick Stahl as JC.
Edward Furlong was spunky and optimistic, Nick is playing a grown up nihilist who has strayed.
The movie is vague on what caused that but it's not Nick's fault, it's the script. He was working with what he had, and he handled himself pretty well in the action scenes.
i like batman and robin but mainly because of mr freeze and how he just wants his wife back.
I don't think I've ever met a Bond fan who thought Lazenby was a bad pick. For me, he had the best gun barrel scene as well as one of the best intros. Apparently the only reason he was fired was because he was a jerk offscreen from what I remember.
He wasn't fired. The studio even wanted him back to make more Bond movies. He didn't return because his agent advised him against it, thinking the franchise was dead
the only time I pondered the value of a.i in film-making was to use it to insert Jodi Foster into Hannibal. But Julianne Moore deserves more respect than that, even if I didn't fully enjoy her follow up as Clarice. Plus use of a.i in film is evil
seeing as how Neo remarked about smith getting "upgrades" in one of the sequels the correct thing to do after getting someone to scab for weaving would be to have Neo cement on smith getting a "downgrade"
That's because they weren't smith upgrades, they were upgraded agents. Have you forgotten that there was three different looking agents in matrix.
Keaton was the best Batman
Nah Affleck and Pattinson
Keaton and Pattinson
He was the best Batman but bale was the best Bruce Wayne
@@barrymckenna8547 Keaton owned “I’m Batman”. Those eyes.
Honestly, when I first heard that Michael Keaton was going to play Batman, I thought that his performance was going to be like George Clooney's was in Batman and Robin. After all, Michael Keaton was best known for starring in comedies at the time. I didn't think that he had the chops to pull off playing a superhero.
I absolutely had no problem with Nick Stahl's performance in T3 Rise of the Machines. And maybe have some compassion for what was going on with Furlong. Addiction is not a joke.
no Rayden, Sonya, Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat Annihilation?
What is mortal Kombat annihilation
1:42 Crispin Glover wanted Marlon Brando money
5:58 False. This narrative has been repeatedly debunked, as Weisz had literally just finished filming "The Brothers Bloom" and was already booked for another project. She never even had a chance to read the script before they recast. Even if she had read the script and liked it, it was still five months in China when she had a young son at home.
8:00 This movie doesn't exist. It's a crime against Batman fandom to mention the name Joel Schumacher. Rumors persist of footage of Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne, but as far as I will ever be concerned, those are only rumors.
13:12 Just like most of the rest of us did.
Julianne Moore may not have been the best replacement for Jodie Foster in Hannibal, but she certainly doesn't belong on any worst list.
I love Mario Bello, but that really was a stupid casting replacement lol, She looked nothing like Rachel, to me It almost felt like he remarried to a different woman LOL, and she wasn't even British to begin with, not that, that matters too much...but when you add it up with all the other negatives...it does amount to something 🤔😐 I just feel like it was a bum deal for everyone, including both actresses!
"It almost felt like he remarried to a different woman" - that totally cracked me up. You hit the nail on the head. I felt the same way. Rachel and Maria bear no resemblance to each other whatsoever.
@@ladybug4508 lol yeah! I honestly started doubting my memory, like wait, did rachel stay dead at the end of part two and i just forgot lol, now he's married to this other woman remiscing about all these adventures WE'VE NEVER SEEN !!! LOL !
@@johnjamesleahy4065 Haha! I can see why you were thinking that way, it would make perfect sense!! 😂
Does anyone want to address the bigger elephant in the room…
Henry Cavill, as Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher, being replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
But have we seen Hemsworth as Geralt yet?
Henry left because of the women writers who wanted to do their own thing and kept sexualizing Gerald.
this is supposedd to be 10 worst... Clarice Starling's replacement is no where near deserving of a "top 10 worst"
I didn't like Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne. He seemed robotic. "Tell me, Doctor. Do you like...the circus?"
A weak line sure but if you want robotic you should recall when he shouted among the crowds "I'm Batman!" during the attack on the circus where two face threatened to blow them all up unless Batman reveals himself on which he did.
Hugo Weaving did not turn down The Matrix Resurrections. He wanted to do it and asked Lana Wachowski to accommodate his already busy schedule, as he was starring in a play at the time. She opted to recast the role instead.
I always thought that was the same George McFly because I’ve been watching back to the future since I was a little kid
On Her Majesty's Secret Service is one of my favorites. He may not be Connery but he did deliver. This was one of those more grounded 007s.
Sean Connery didn't step down, he asked for more money and was denied. Broccoli could have afforded to pay Connery his price but decided to stiff Connery out of principle.
For me, I'd have to go with Robin Curtis taking over the Saavak role from Kirstie Alley. Kirstie was perfect!
I think Julianne Moore was a great replacement. Was tough not seeing Jodie return, but Julianne made the character her own without disrespecting Jodie.
Arnold is a T-850 in T3
I'm not sure why Christopher Showerman is on this list for George of the Jungle 2 - In his opening scene, he literally says the studio couldn't afford Brenden Fraser for the sequel that's why he's in the film instead. So the film actually addressed this already.
Doesn’t change that he sucks lol
Lazenby is not that horrible as Bond- especially when you consider he never acted before. He managed the big emotional scene at the end extremely well, and while he didn't quite have Connery's ineffable charisma he was certainly no less charming than Roger Moore, who replaced Connery the second time around.
You actually acknowledge Man Hunter!?!?
Crispin Glover’s replacement was solid as George McFly. Plus it was a brief, older version of the character. I personally couldn’t tell the difference until I heard about the discrepancy years later.
George Lazenby was more than serviceable as Bond. No one can surpass Connery, but Lazenby was so well received that he was offered the role again, but he turned it down.
NEVER try to replace THE Brendan Fraser. He's his own thing.
I would never understand the moronic fascination Film Twitter has for the atrocity that was Matrix Resurrections. Unwatchable trash filled with mind boggling decisions like recast actors or make the previous movies a fiction franchise within it's own canon, all while wasting money from the company and time from the viewer. And all bc Wachowski wanted to do some sort of meta-commentary about the industry instead of just doing another cool looking movie with actual storytelling and depth. I guess that's "genius" for this people.
Some artists are just one hit wonders.
Clooney would slay as a 60's era OG Nick Fury
Ahh no Samuel L doing just fine
mcu brings in the og white nick fury, once slj leaves.
@@jamespope7669 too bad he ain't going anywhere and news flash he's black in the comics now too
@tru47agent that's why they said 60's era Nick Fury 🙈😂😂😂

The matrix resurrections mentions there was a purge in the matrix which could explain why agent smith is different I actually didnt mind the matrix resurrections edward furlong was originally considered for the role of john connor in terminator 3 but personal issues got in the way nick stahl was ok as a replacement
Lazenbys’ Bond is not Connerys’ Bond, he even mentions that this wouldn’t happen to the other guy 🤦🏻♂️
On Her Majestys Secret Service is my favorite Bond film. There's a line in the movie at the beginning where it seems like he was a different James Bond. After his first incounter with Rigg's character where she ran off after he rescued her he said " That didn't happen to the other guy "
George Mcfly wasn't a pay dispute but a Moral dispute on how the first movie ended and decided he didn't wanna return for the sequel
😬 George of the jungle 2 was so subpar that I entirely forgot its existence. And will more than likely do so again.
George Clooney was good Bruce Wayne but not a very good batman, haha
I literally still have animus toward Julienne Moore because of how bland and awful she was as Clarisse
George Lazenby - I think he gets too much crap for his take on Bond. Yeah, he is arguably (almost certainly, really) the worst MGM Bond, but when you consider his utter lack of acting experience he did a serviceable job, I thought (controversial take, maybe). Of course, some of the blame might be on the writing and directing as well. Rumours were that he wasn't great to work with though. Not to mention, whilst he did go above and beyond to advocate for himself to get the part, it was ultimately the studio that cast him in the part. In any case, he's probably one of the least egregious casting fails on this list.
Matrix Resurrections - TBH, the whole movie was lacklustre, as I recall. Particularly Keanu's fighting bits. He mostly just does force blasts. The movie is the embodiment of 'know when to stop milking a franchise'.
i will say George of the jungle 2 does have the funniest line. hey your not George! no, the studio couldn't afforded Brendon Fraser. even as a kid i found that soo funny
Especially since Brendan was offered $12.5m for the sequel and turned it down because he didn't want to diet or workout. He wanted to wear a fatsuit and make fun of George having let himself go.
Y'all forgot Jason Patric for Keanu Reeves in Speed 2
Lazenby was a great Bond
4:46 i didn't even know that George Of The Jungle 2 existed.
I vote Michael Gambon replacing Richard Harris' Dumbledore. Not just the infamous "DidyouputyournameintheGobletofFire!" Just all wrong for the part.
He was perfect
Anything after Home Alone 2 isn't "canon"
George of the jungle is the perfect type of movie for a sequel?
What about No Keanu Reeves in Speed2 ?
No, Val Kilmer didn’t play a more convincing billionaire than Michael Keaton. Not by a long shot. Val’s a great actor but in no way did he portray the duality of the character like Michael did.
I like Crispin Glover but his demand for one million is almost 2.4 million today. That's a lot for a minor role. The lawsuit did lead to the end of "Fake Shemp" by Hollywood. For anyone under 60 it's a reference to 'Shemp' of the 3 Stooges, *the worst Stooge ever!*
sam raimi coined the term of fake ahemp
no he wasn't the worst the worst stooge was Joe Besser the guy refused to be slap and suck at the stooges style of comedy
@@jsmith3946 Don't tell my wife. If she hears "nuck nuck nuck, a wiseguy eh?" she makes the same face I make if I hear a Barry Manilow song. At the Copa, Copacabana! 🤣
@@jsmith3946 Yes. Joe Besser was awful. Shemp was great, very underrated.
7:48 hey, maybe this was just a bit more disrespectful than amusing? Like, way harsh, Tai.
I always thought OHMSS was probably the best plots and locations for a Bond movie and Diana Rigg was ideal after her action girl Mrs Peel in the Avengers . If only Sean and a familiar Blowfelt were in it the film would have been the classic early Bond movie .
Not sure why this list even exist. When has replacing a movie actor ever been for the better. I guess I'll wait for the inevitable "10 Best Actor Replacements In Movies" video to make my final decision.
You obviously missed the Brian Dennehy/Anthony Hopkins reference.
@@paulhilton6426 you obviously meant Brian Cox, but I've never seen his Hannibal Lecture, so I can't compare the two.
Imagine that. Someone at whatculture saying an actor has a lack of talent. Most of you haven’t got any talent at all. Even these videos are often written and edited by someone other than the person talking (anyone can do that)
Sad Fun fact: is that they went to Edward Furlong to replay John and all he had to do was stay off the drugs and get in shape... later that night after after agreeing to that he went to a club and slightly O.D. in the club and they cut him
Wow. I never knew Blob was recasted.
Colin Farrell to Johnny Depp as Grindelwald
Colin Farrell was actually playing Grindlwald DISGUISED as Percival Graves. So that's what Percival Graves is like. They needed a completely different actor for what Grindlwald actually looks like. The problem was they miscast that role. Not sure who would have been good for it.
I see Ellie's Voice's third season arc is almost complete.
Lookin' forward to the fourth season twist: T-1000 Terminator Ventriloquism Voicebox V2!
I wonder if the screen test for George Clooney as batman/Bruce Wayne went really well LOL? Because maybe He did it differently there, than he did in the movie? I welcome all feedback thank you 😎🤔
I was upset that Evie was changed in Mummy 3.
Wasn't John Connor replaced because the original was an addict? That would have been more fitting at the start of the movie.
I consider Batman and Robin so bad that it's good. 9:06 7 million! KACHING!
Home Alone 4 never happened. That is non-canon. They should have just had it be another kid. Why did they not get a blond actor?
They recast Evie because the original actress had just finished filming in China and didn't want to be there any longer because she had a kid at home she wanted to see and take care of.
I didn't mind Julianne moore in Hannibal, except she seemed to have too much of a stick up her but, like she was way too combative and defensive with everyone, i know part of the point is MOST MEN underestimated/condecended her, but she was too over the top NEGATIVE, you have to be willing to "play the game" of social politics to potentially get ahead in the world, I'm not saying she had to like: bat her eyes, always smile and flirt or whatever, the way i know that some female bartenders/waitresses potentially feel they have to, but she has to at least fake being conversational, etc....i am being serious and sincere here, and i welcome all feedback, agreeing or disagreeing with me, as long as there's respect and no passive aggressiveness lol ty and good luck to us all!!! 😇🤗🤔😎😁
P.S. I still like to picture GILLIAN ANDERSON in that sequel 😎
Nick Stahl's John Conner did not have any chemistry with the Terminator because he didn't want to, he wanted nothing to do with the future his mom was preparing him for.
Maria Bello is awesome...
But she IS NOT MY EVIE🤨
I thought Kilmer was a good Bruce Wayne and OHMSS is one of my favorite Bond films.
I always thought the Schumacher Batmans were supposed to be like in universe movies made about Batman.
Awesome
"Studio too cheap to pay for Brendan Fraser."
Sorry with home alone you start with home alone 4? Despite the fact that Macaulay wasn't in part 3 smh. Call George of the Jungle a Tarzan ripoff it was a spoof not a rip off. Who is writing for you anymore? Oooh James Bond not James Bond having replacement actors for James Bond 🙄
I didn’t remember Smith was in the reboot but I also didn’t much about it. Trauma amnesia for the win.
I really didn't like the actress who played Jenifer in the last two back to the future movies, mostly because of the way that the character was portrayed. In the first movie Jenifer was very smart and kind and very level-headed, the actress in the other movies portrayed her as an airheaded girl. I understand the reason for the change in the actress, and it wouldn't bother me if the replacement actress continued with the original personality
Terminator Salvation was highly received better than Rise of the Machines, no joke
I actually didn't realize the Back to the Future one until a few years ago.
The last Mummy movie was awful, which sucks because I love Fraser and Li. Maria Bello is a horrible actress. Fraser looked like he hated being in the same room with her, like he knew he would have to carry his part and hers.
Yeah, apparently, Burton got dropped because the 2nd movie was too "dark and scary". I saw some interviews with kids about the movie. One kid said it was "an affront" to children. Mind you, he had to see it twice. One girl looked over at her mother before she answered any questions.
Well, technically he didn't get dropped as Batman. Tim Burton did and Keaton wasn't going to do it if Burton wasn't directing it. At least that's the way I heard it.
I hated that they replaced Donald Pleasance wirh Telly Savalas in On Jer Majesty 's Secret Service. Pleasance had true menace whereas Savalas was a thug.
What about swapping Christian Clavier for Clovis Cornillac as Asterix in "Asterix at the Olympic Games"?
I mean the movie was bad anyways but that replacement was a joke, wasn't it?
BTTF shouldn't be on this list. There's no problem with Crispin Glover's replacement. Glover just thought that his side character should be a main character and tried to extort money out of the studio for it. It's my all-time favorite trilogy, and although I would possibly have been just as happy if he'd stayed in the role, it just proves that he wasn't necessary for the sequels to be great. Never trust an actor who pretends he's "an artist" when his number one interest is a bigger paycheck.
Clooney and Schumacher deserve their fair share of the blame but the studio execs were in charge and were demanding that the series be taken in a more family/kid friendly direction. It was all about the money. On a positive note, the fallout of that debacle most likely paved the way to better results in the future with The Dark Knight, Joker and The Batman.
I liked Nick Stahl as John Connor. Second best movie in the franchise.
@ 7:35 - on behalf of everybody from the UK... *NEVER* use the word 'spunk' again. *PLEASE* 😱😱😱
I like home alone 3.
Terminator 3 has NOT aged well. This is literally the only time I've heard that said by anyone. It was terrible then, and it's terrible now.
Honestly, did anyone even notice numbers 9 & 10 when it happened? Also, the rest of this list was a stupid waste of time.
George Lazenby was a great Bond.
Nobody can replace Connery he's always so wase and elegant
I don't know if most westerners familiar with Stephen Chow, but here in Asia Chow is a legend.
So, related to the topic, he was originally planned to star as Kato and even direct The Green Hornet movie. Then he stepped off as director but still stays as Kato. But after several issues, he left the project entirely and replaced by Jay Chou. If only Stephen Chow stays and got the ultimate creative control that he wanted, we might see a better version of that movie.
One of the worst movies ever made. After seeing that I had to binge watch the entire television series to cleanse my mind.
Amazing
George and Tarzan are two different people
You do remember that Victor killed the blob in wolverine so his blob wouldn't have worked
Angel killed the blob in X-Men Apocalypse
1. A fake woman recasts a fake Agent Smith.
I do not blame Clooney or kilmer for their Batman movies. Joel Schumacher was the absolutely worst choice executive producer and the scripts he approved for absolute garbage. Blame production, not the actors on that one
There was a George of the Jungle II? Why? For God's sake, just why?
