A collaboration of INHuman & Hol! It would pretty much fix all of this...
I saw Hol! live in a huge venue and from a sound quality perspective his tracks sounded better than 99% of anything I’d ever heard before. And I’ve been to hundreds of shows in different venues. Something about the comically distorted sub sounds super clean on giant speakers.
love that you covered this despite bro being butthurt about the last reaction lol, i actually like distorted ch 1 more but i gotta agree that the subtronics collab is the best on here. . I just feel like he’s getting caught up in the “live show” scene which is why hes pushing distortion/soft clipping and fakeouts the way he is, but it’s obv a con for a regular listener
Best era of hol is mid 2021 to early 2022, he has a song called the calling which is his best to date. Great mixdown, brutal, powerful tune
Yeah i agree
Every song kinda feels drawn out and repetitive because it’s meant for live shows
Its always a 8-bar idea that just ends up looping over and over with a fake drop that doesn’t really work for casual listening like you said
@@raincastmusic fr lmao he didnt even call it “distorted ch 2” prob for marketing/branding purposes
It’s like the tape is strictly meant to hype you up to go see him live nothing more
@@raincastmusicsame, i also agree
Here before HOL! gets mad and this video gets deleted
LOL
MF CALLED IT
yeah everyone know what Inhuman had to say about this one :)
It's better than expected ngl!
@inhuman.society must have had low expectations haha
3:42 his drop in a collab with Subtronics may I add
I don't get Hol's style. Things like Detonate w/Eptic or Karate Chop were good. But the more releases come out, the less I begin to understand the difference between them.
tbh I feel the same
Same man
Eventually starts to sound like the same song with slight differences. Really can't get myself into his music, it's just so annoyingly generic to me
That eptic collaboration is one of the most run of the mill riddim songs I've ever heard tbh
@@bingbong1767 It works for me because of the good mixing and I just love Eptic's sound :p
his brother deserves way more recognition, he's just a much better and more versatile producer tbh
Hurtbox 🔥
He is less consistent I feel like but that is because he tries new things like you said. When I first found Hol! I was hyped. I turned on this new mix, heard two songs and went "yeah I don't get it anymorr" and turned it off lol
hurtbox is fire. hol! just needs to drop an actual project to get back into the game. shouldnt have dropped this mix, shouldve been an album or ep, especially with so many tunes from distorted chapter 1 still unreleased
Wait, hurtbox and hol are related?
@@DafterHindi they’re twins
dam he blocked you? dam💀💀
"The one before sounded like trash" it sure did haha.
I just feel like his songs are often forgettable. I think his music has a ton of potentially to be really catchy and simple like somewhere or the subtronics collab. Usually he just opts for monotone quarter notes, though
The impact is usually there, but there's just not much substance with all the ideas being so similar
Some of his tunes like the ones I mentioned earlier are GREAT though
So this whole "mixtape" was basically unfinished tracks/VIP's smashed together?
Yep. That's pretty much what a mixtape is. Ask Vaultage 001, 002 & 003
@@caliberkat yeah I know but this one felt underwhelming. Only drops which got scrapped munched together, no order, no atmosphere. Vaultage feels like 1 big song/mixtape with a "story"
@@caliberkatVaultage by Space Laces is so so much better than this because it doesn't have a compilation feel to it. Each Vaultage Mix genuinely tells it's own unique story and has a lot of great switches.
@@justalpha9138 yep exactly. Most mixtapes are done better than others
Imo Hol's music has not changed enough in the past 2 or 3 years for me to remain interested. Its like the same template is used for every single song and it just gets old
Where is the other Hol! reaction?
Hol! Is a very talented producer capable of making great music but his reliance on soft clipping for impact lately has been turning me away from his sound. His older projects still bang, space cowboys with Ganon being my favorite. Space cowboys is very clean despite having a lot of sub. All I’m saying is his clipping style is good but he’s done it to the point of making a once unique sound very normal for him.
That second song has too much high end, ouch
Hol! shit, his from greece and born in athens. I'm so glad we have a mainstream greek dubstep artist.
Am saying all this because am also greek and born in Athens. I hope i can find him and meet him.
That was very underwhelming and disappointing, I know he’s capable of making much better projects. His debut album and Lost Boys EP are solid and are both worth going back to, but everything else just doesn’t do anything for me. I thought his distorted chapter 1 showcase was pretty decent, and god do I need that second to last ID.
Pretty boring imo, every drop is basically the same
Hello
Distortion
this is like the most generic riddim i've ever heard
Funny to see how unimpressed you are lol
I mean he's a long time producer and judges professionaly, not as an average listener
Black hole chapter one was wayy better
