I knew you were over 400 years old
Attention Bethesda! Hire this man. I want Brandon's music in the taverns in Elder Scrolls 6.
Hell yeah! That would be sick
Or in Chivalry 2.
@@ebusanta001 O heck yea. I love me some chiv 2
Well, strictly speaking it's Mr Dowland's music but yes, we need Brandon playing it.
And please hire an adequate game designer instead of todd coward
By the hands of Brandon, Mr Dowland crossed 500 years of history to inspire me to play the guitar today...
Beautiful ornamentation🎶
Beautiful. I have a special fondness for Dowland.
Perfectly played Brandon 👍👍
Hey, you asked if I'm a fan of lute and I couldn't answer because I was starstruck, sorry (Obviously because there were too many lutes in the room ). The answer is I am a lute fan yes. Your videos on how to read lute tab and play this song on guitar were the catalyst that caused me to finally get into playing classical guitar. Thank you, Brandon!!
Nice to hear from you again, Heidi! It was nice to meet you in person and I'm so happy you feel inspired to play :)
It was nice to meet you as well!
Thank you for teaching me this terrific piece!
42 years ago I bought a Cox 8-course lute kit and Diana Poulton's book of Dowland's complete works. This was one of the first pieces I practiced. My ill-constructed lute sounded awful and my guitar nails made it worse. THIS is how to play this piece properly. Bravo, sir!
Very nicely played. Captured the essence of the composition’s title. Mr. John Dowland would approve of this performance. Thank you for your hard work.
Heart-achingly beautiful 💙 the rubato used so sensitively... just beautiful
Bautiful interpretation as always. Thank you for sharing this music for those who don't have always the time to go to concerts.
Thanks Brandon. This music has a purity that I also find in Impressionism.
Brandon makes me wanna play the lute
Very calming. Beautifully done. Thank you.
Gotta love these Skyrim tavern musicians like Brandon!
"I was headed to the tavern with my lute, but I took an arrow to the knee..."
Beautiful
Oh wow, thank you for this Brandon, I'm new to playing the lute and this was on my list of pieces to learn.
Beautiful.
Thanks for your videos, after old video of you talk about how a baroque guitar compared to ukulele, i bought one concert ukulele and although i played electric guitar i will never go back.
Outstanding Brandon!
Lovely and soothing. Merci beaucoup, Brandon !! ❤❤❤👏👏👏
So beautiful Brandon. Thank you! ✨
Sounds amazing ❤
Just beautiful, Brandon!
Beautiful!
Beautifully done. Enjoyed it. ❤
Really beautiful! Very inspiring.
man.... where have I heard this before?
Excelent interpretation. I love this amount of reverb 😅
Gosh the lute takes me back to those days...wait, what? 😅
~ Great Performance! Renaissance lute ''Trill of a Lifetime' ...of course, After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang down.
Could you make a video teaching how to play with this beautiful ornamentation?
🔥🔥🔥
From 01:09 to 01:19 you are literally staring at his face for ten second.
Awesome!!
Brandon, is there any way you could do Ständchen by Franz Schubert again?
It is incredible
Ooooh ! STANDSHEN !!! I LOVE THIS PIECE OF MUSIC ! SOOOO ROMANTIC !!! 😍😍😍😍
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Please do Mr. John Dowland's the right honourable Robert earl of essex's galliard. If possible on guitar. I'm learning it right now and it would be a great way to see the interpretation and to understand the music better.
❤
This makes me wanna drink potion and fight monsters in some skellige forest
Brandon, you get a beautiful sound from this renaissance lute. Is this a new instrument to you…?
🎶🎵🤗
Beautiful performance 🥰 Whats the temperament called you used there it doesnt look like 1/4 Meantone and it a perfect fit for this old piece
Thank you! It's 1/6 comma meantone. The first fret is slanted very low to get a beautiful C# and F#
@@brandonacker Thanks for the response i will try it out. Im still learning about the temperaments, as i tried 1/4 meantone with all frets arranged pieces in Aminor like Dowlands midnight sounded abit off to me. My ears still enjoy it alot as i experiment with temperaments and finetune the frets here and there. The biggest shock is always i if grab my guitar again then i realize how out of tune equal temperament is 😄
Yes those temperaments spoil you for equal haha
You do have to be careful with choosing your temperament based on the keys you are playing in. 1/4 comma won't work in A minor if you have a high 1st and 3rd fret (which is normally what you do). You have to add tastini or move the frets to work in that key.
Or you can go to something less harsh like 1/6 or even 1/8 comma :)
@@brandonacker Yes indeed playing my guitar without tastini feels so wrong now haha and my only classicalguitar will have them within the next days. I dont know alot about musictheory, just another selftaught guitarist in year 4 and renaissance lute in 6. month now. 1/4 meantone sounds best for pieces in C D and prob E for my ears and i will try out 1/6 and 1/8 Meantone right now. Thanks for your inspiring beeing and your art :)
You should record for the new upcoming Witcher game! Why not write to CDPR?
I have a question
Do yourself compos this pieces
On this instrument or not?
No. This is a historical instrument and I play the music that was written for it when it was popular in the Renaissance (1400-1600)
@@brandonacker allright,Brandon .but are you able to compose and if so , would you be willing to share YOUR music with us ?
Are these steel strings?
No. Lutes used gut strings historically. A popular alternative today is nylgyt (synthetic gut) which is basically nylon
@@brandonacker ook I guessed that, why I asked is because it's a very sharp sound, use your nails perhaps
Sounds like just wrote a second voicing for "white as lillies"
Good music! But whats up with the grey hair? :P
I think of Dowland and his contemporary (iirc) John Donne as the original emo boys *g*
The thought had crossed my mind, too!
dude, why does a lute sound so... medieval?!?
You can play this on guitar, but why would you if you have a lute. Some things are just sacriligious.
dear brandon, are you willing to bite me for 75 years of servitude?
Why so serious? You can enjoy it like Downlad.
