The lady in green is Yootha Joyce, and they are her real teeth 🤣
😮
She was great in George and Mildred
@@geofftottenperthcoys9944 If I remember rightly she was also in an episode of Open All Hours. It's very sad that in reality she drank herself to death.
Sadly she was an alcoholic and a heavy drinker, the inquest into her passing showing that she drank half a bottle of brandy a day for 10 years and much more closer to her untimely death as a result of the health problems that resulted from her drinking. It is implied in her biography that she turned to drink to steady her nerves, particularly after her divorce and subsequent failed relationships, loneliness, typecasting, lack of other work, and lack of privacy due to the popularity of Mildred Roper, and had become depressed. She was really a beautiful lady who deserved better. Her alcoholism and death was truly a great tragedy.
As the actor/comedian Kenneth Williams said of her, "she was a lady who made so many people happy and a lady who never complained".
@@clayhead12000If I remember rightly Yootha was in the pilot of Open All Hours which was part of Barker's series 'seven of one'
Grew up watching The Dick Emery Show. It ran from 1963 for 18 years. They used to alternate these Saturday night prime time shows. The production values were so high and the amount of work involved was so much, that they usually only produced 6 episodes per series. Plus a much anticipated Christmas Special. Then they ran "Best Of" compilation shows as well. Stanley Baxter had a similar long run of comedy sketch shows from 1963 as well. He specialised in recreating Hollywood Movies, while playing the female lead parts.
Loved, loved Dick Emery. Such a talent
Without trying to complicate things too much...the woman in green is Yootha Joyce. She played Mrs Roper is "Man About the House" and "George and Mildred". The original versions of what would be "Three's Company" and "The Ropers" in America. "Man About the House" would be another good series to check out.
I loved Dick Emery. Grew up watching his genius & fab characters. Such a talent. RIP Mr. Emery.
The Vicar called the other vicar a berk - -"berk" is rhyming slang from "Berkeley Hunt"...
True and a bit rude 😲🤣
Dick played many characters some with piano key teeth and some with his normal ones lol
Tommy Steele was originally one of the first Rock and Roll Performers in the UK. He went on to make Musicals and is still active well into his 80’s. Similar to Dick
Emery is Stanley Baxter worth watching.
Yootha Joyce, of course - a fine comedic actress, who also liked a drink in the real world, which was mostly responsible for her curtailed life, sadly.
Echo what has been said about Carry On reactions, Alan.
It wasn't so much that she liked the drink, she turned to drink to steady her nerves, particularly after her divorce and subsequent failed relationships, loneliness, typecasting, lack of other work, and lack of privacy due to the popularity of Mildred Roper, and had become depressed. For someone who was raised in an era where you don't talk about your problems, the compounding of everything that she was enduring with the fact that she kept it all to herself was a recipe for disaster. Her alcoholism and death were such a great tragedy.
@@Steve_P_B - I was being diplomatic - her husband 'Dave the Barman' was also partial to a drink, shall we say....
She had quite a CV in film and TV. Sad that she believed she was typecasting herself as Mildred.
@@thisiszaphod I disagree that you were being diplomatic. As I mentioned, it wasn't something that she did because she liked it but because she was struggling with so many mental health problems. As I said, her alcoholism and death was truly a terrible tragedy.
@@Steve_P_B OK - disagree then.

hard to believe Yootha Joyce has been dead 43 years.....
Now 21st century Saturday night TV in the UK is celebrity game shows. I was fortunate enough to live through an era when fun was allowed.
the 1970's British tv was a wash with brilliance & genius. Too many to mention. We were spoiled with such an abundance of comedy.
Omg dick emery. Brilliant. Apologies if you have already done some, but you should really watch a carry on film. Hope you and the family are well
Can't believe Yootha Joyce was only 53 when she died.
She Died of Alcoholism .
@@tradeladder146 I remember watching her in man about the house and george and mildred back in the 70's. What a shame she died in such a sad way.
Hatch, Match and dispatch! Brilliant!
Tommy Steele was a hugely popular British singer/actor in the 1960's. "Flash bang Wallop (What a picture, what a photograph!)" was a song from his best-known movie "Half a Sixpence." "Stick it in your family al-bum" was the strap line from the same song. My favourite song as a child was his "Little White Bull." Dick Emery was an equally popular TV comedian through most of the 60s and 70s. Probably best known for the tag line "Oh, you are awful, but I like you!" (usually delivered in drag as a slutty woman or gay man, preceded by some kind of double-entendre and followed by a hefty shove on the shoulder).
The good old days
the press called him the English Elvis but then they said the same about cliff richard and billy fury
My mum loved Tommy steel
You should also look up George and Mildred, which starred Youtha Joyce, it was one of the top comedies of the late seventies, early eighties. Dear Youtha was brilliant in it.
Stick it in your family Album..(Yootha Joyce...went onto be long-suffering
wife of George Roper(Traffic warden)...you heard he normal voice 2nd.
Emery was great as the goodguy/villan' ,he was good at different voices,
Emery did the dialect well ,the 'rosy' cheeked farmer, his 'throat clearing 'grandad' was a 'classic' in his portfolio.
Try and get a look at his 'skinhead' father and son act with another fine
comedian Roy Kinnear.
Dear lovely Eclectic Beard.
I loved the fact that you watched Freddie Starr do Mick Jagger.
Suddenly thought of Fawlty Towers. We all know here in the UK that you will 'get it' 😂. ❤
I've got 3 episodes of it left to react to for my Patreon members. I love that show.
Yoothacjoyce was brilliant in George and mildred
I remember watching this when I was a kid back in the day👍😂😂❤
Alan, I'm loving the background and the new fresh look. It's great😊
As @1ANRS wrote in his comment, "The Vicar and Bad Language", is a really good sketch. Please do a reaction to it.
Come on Ecletic us Brits are known for our big and bad teeth!🤣🤙
Yup remember watching 45 years ago faf
Dick emery was very funny ,Yootha joyce in green was a real alcoholic she died of liver failure in 1980s very sad ,you should watch George and mildred she was one of the leeds .
Old Shows like Dick Emery are not shown on British TV today which is a shame as it's way better than the dross that passes for comedy today... Anything that is seen as politically incorrect just doesn't get a look in in case someone is offended or someone is offended on behalf of someone else.... Hands up anyone the last time they seen Benny Hill or Steptoe and Son on British TV?....
Grab your DVDs or blu-rays while you can....
Strangely enough she was playing the part of an alcoholic and in real life she was one, that’s what she died from.
Biggest problem is the so call almighty god brigade have always dependent on innocent people for their piousness
Hey, good to see you back, damn technology. Back in the eighties in Britain this is all we had to watch. There was only 3 channels to watch, I have great memories of my dad laughing to all this kind of stuff. 😊
Can you please tell me how to avoid copyright claims
Eh. Either edit more or take the hit. Claims aren't an issue, it's blocks and strikes that get you in trouble.
@@TheEclecticBeardThank you so much for your reply
Did you get ever strike
I want to start my channel reaction soon and I'm really worried as I invested lots of money
@@Yesno35 The key is not getting 3 strikes in a 90 day period. I've gotten strikes before, I got 2 on the same day for doing something completely dumb (live streamed 2 live events from the BBC and the TT). The best thing I can tell you is just go for it and since you've invested lots of money, make sure you use it for more than just reactions in some way so you get some extra use that maybe you can turn into content as well.
@@TheEclecticBeard Thank you so much
lot of love from Manchester ❤️❤️
Ooooo...!!!!... you are awful...but I like you...!!! ....mimicking Dick Emery, Monty Python, Freddy Starr in the school yard was a rite of passage...😅😅😅...
I always liked the vicar sketch when his daughter brings her fiancé to meet him. Really funny!
He plays an old man called Lampwick as well, I think he lives with his daughter and son-in-law.
Yes, he did live with his daughter and son-in-law. The daughter was Helen Frazer who played Sylvia Violet Hollamby in 92 episodes of "Bad Girls" from 1999 to 2006 and the son-in-law was Victor Maddern.
Classic comedy. You don't get shows like this any more, sadly.
Love your reactions to comedy EB. Have you ever checked Australian comedian Steve Hughes ? recommended as a starter his live at the Apollo gig. I'm sure you'll love it.
A bit too much truth in the character played by Yootha. She was an alcoholic and at one point was drinking half a bottle of brandy a day.
This takes me back. The whole family sitting around the T.V. on a Saturday night watching the Dick Emery Show. One of my Dad's favourites along with the likes of the Two Ronnies.
And now they offer us celebrity game shows.
The vicar sitting on the right hand side of the Toothy Vicar is Keith Marsh. He played Jacko the dimwitted friend and work colleague of Eddie Booth in the sitcom Love Thy Neighbour . The posh lady is Yootha Joyce who played the Landlord's wife Mildred Roper in Man About The House and its spin-off George and Mildred( US version Three's Company and The Ropers).
Could be a Bee Gee with those teeth
Yootha Joyce was in a Sitcom 'George and Mildred' another great study in British manners and class snobbery, I think you would enjoy.
Dick Emery was a MASTER.Need I say more.
Dick Emery, The Vicar and Bad Language is a really good sketch.
I couldn't agree more.
The other vicar is Keith 'I'll 'ave 'alf' Marsh who was Jacko the funniest character in Love Thy Neighbour.
I love your reactions and your laughter is truly infectious!
If you get the chance check out Freddie Starr in the WHO Do You Do tv series. His impressions are hilarious. One notable one being Roy Orbison
A good choice for a comeback Alan. Will you christen your PC with a nickname now? Lazarus might be a good choice there. Be well, glad you are back. 😉
Dick emery was a comedy genius, the other vicar was in Love thy neighbour.
Yootha's teeth are all her own!!!
Ironically yootha joyce was a chronic alcoholic and died very young.
It’s a long held tradition in uk to make fun of the church. The 60/70’s especially had many comedies and sitcoms based around the church, then it stopped for a while until Dawn French in The Vicar of Dibley which if you haven’t seen well worth a look.
Derek Nimmo had a few years Playing a monk also a Priest and making a mess of both jobs in Oh Brother in about 1969/70 and All Gas and Gaiters a year or 2 afterwards
Not forgetting,of course,Ch.4's 'Father Ted' 👌👍
Also the magical Yootha Joyce (in green) who could actually chew an apple through a letterbox 🙂
Yootha Joyce who played the woman in green was an alcoholic in real life sadly. she played Mildred in George and Mildred, a funny actress
Hatches matches and dispatches: what a great expression for births, marriages and deaths lol
nice to see the great Youtha Joyce who shot to fame opposite Brian Murphy as the land lady from the sitcom man about the and then in there own spin off sitcom George and Mildred something you may want to take a look at
YOOTHA JOYCE! I loved her! GEORGE!
lmao the Vickers wife's teeth are her own she was an actress called Youtha Joyce
Strange she tooks this part, with the drinking?
😂😂😂 classic comedy.
For an American that gets Dick Emery,is halfway to becoming English,if not, British
Dick Emery as the Milkman is worth watching.
Dick Emery was hilarious and even featured as an unofficial Goon with comedy legends Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan. Yootha Joyce was in sit-coms before they got wiped off television but she will always be the strong scary maid in Fanatic (1965) to me alongside Tallulah Bankhead and Peter Vaughn.
