Wow. So you glad you finally checked this app out...(: I've been using Upnote for over one year and LOVE it. Two things to add about Upnote is that you can embed UA-cam (maybe others too) videos, which is important for my situation when I share notes. Also, it has a great dark mode with super clean UI, especially on my Android Samsung S20. It has been SUPER reliable, so far, and can be used as an offline app as well. Oh, and its super fast. Thanks for the speaking about this app. Many in the Upnote community have often wondered why more reviews have not been done on this app. I have not heard about any negative issues. Keep up the great videos.
UpNotes is a dynamite notes app that is available on Mac, iOS, Windows, Android and Linux. I use it primarily on Windows, Mac and iPad, and the experience feels very homogenous.
I use Upnote for a few months now and it's been great. Was looking for a lightweight replacement for Apple Notes after a some synchronizations bug (that lost me a dozen of notes). I'm a huge fan of Apple Note : it's fast, good design, well organized and straight to the point. So I was looking for exactly that but outside the iCloud ecosystem. If you're looking for something similar to Apple Note but without Apple restriction, Upnote is definitively the best choice. I've tested ALL note-taking app and Upnote is the closest to Apple Note by faaaar !
It does seem like a more advanced Apple notes with the reliability and stability, which brings along with it. Thanks for sharing a bit more about how are you using it James
Finally Upnote gets some much needed and well deserved exposure! But I feel like you fell a bit short in this video with showing all the features. First off all the price is very cheap, $24,99 for LIFETIME is just insane (compared to almost any other note taking app)! Also, the right sidebar (click the i icon bottom right of upnote) has many features like backlinks, tags in this note, word count and table of contents. And no mention of the collapsible sections, saved searches in the left sidebar, link to headers or the (recently added) templates feature! To be fair, some of these features are a bit hidden in the UI and this is where Upnote shows it's a new app in its earlier stages of (active) development.
Needed something that works with iOS and Windows. I was using Simplenote for years and loved it, but after they started "offering" a Sustainer plan at a whopping $19.99/month or $199.99/year for being one of the most simple note-taking apps, as well as constant reddit posts about losing notes, I switched to Apple Notes. It's fine, but using it on Windows is extremely inconvenient. Been using Upnote for a few months now and have zero complaints. The one-time cost of $24.99 is definitely worth it in my opinion!
Francesco: please tell us your thoughts about the sustainability of excellent products like UpNote, that only have one or two devs. I get nervous thinking that my thousands of notes in UpNote will go away if the devs get sick or abandon the project…… Is a project from a larger company (Evernote, OneNote, Bear, etc.) more secure?
You need to back up your notes regularly to hard drives you control regardless of the size of the company. I am a little worried about this too, though because I am backing up regularly the issue would be the hassle of getting up and running with a new app after committing to it for an extended period.
I really like Upnote. I started using it last year as an upgrade to Google Keep. I mainly use it to write notes on my mobile device which I then process on my PC.
Another thumbs up, both for the review and UpNote. Been using the application a while on Mac, iPad, iPhone and Windows. It has the features I want, without emphasis on stuff I don’t want. For example, I’m not interested in sharing or publishing my notes. Realise that is important for some, but not me. And the price is good! 😀
Like UpNote very much! Came from Evernote, tested Obsdidian and Logseq and Catch and OneNote and ... UpNote works abolute smooth in Sync with Win and iOS/iPadOS!!! And Markdown is great! Only wish a version for Raspberry Pi ...
I use this more from the point of view of a writing app than just a note keeper only. In that respect it is comparable to say, Ulysses but with the multi-platform sync advantage. I write on an iPad and keyboard when I’m out and come home to a desktop Windows setup with the luxury of a big screen, mouse and mechanical keyboard along with a second hard drive for local backup. Works for me.
Although I have to admit this looks like an awesome app, I'm always a bit suspicious when I can't seem to find any information about the company behind the software and this is in no way unique to UpNote Company Limited (seated in Vietnam). After all you are trusting this company with potentially very sensitive information. Reading the Privacy Policy does not give any information about how the data is stored on device or server side, only that HTTPS is used when transferring the data which is the bare minimum of security. Who are they, what are their mission and how can a company afford life time licens for $24.99. That makes no sense.
I didn’t really dig, but apparently it’s a team of two who are from Vietnam, so the location and team size may help keep expenses low. The FAQ on the official site also now states that customer data is stored on Google Firebase; and as far as I know, they haven’t stated that the lifetime deal will always be available to new users. My take is: the app is great, cross-platform, and as of now highly affordable. I can’t say that I trust bigger companies more either, neither regarding security nor longevity. More important is that they offer good export/backup functionality so there’s not too much lock-in.
You should review Note apps that do not require a net connection. Yesterday, a friend told me his app was unavailable because the site was down for maintenance. This is not good. I use Obsidian and I came from Keep because I do not need the net.
Hello, I've been using Upnote for over one year. Upnote is availavalbe offline where you can read/write your notes when the net is down, or it can be used as a stand alone app without an internet connection.
I may have missed it in the video, but did he talk about tags importing from Evernote? Someone on Reddit posted that tags can be imported into folders? I honestly don't see how this could help anyone find their specific notes. Maybe I'm missing something.
Great review except you missed the elephant in the room - Markdown support! OK, so some will be fine clicking the formatting buttons (so slow), but power users will use Markdown syntax to keep their hands on the keyboard. It's the only way to fly!
I like the design. But the performance seems to be the issue. If you have a simple 4-page of note or 3k words, the note takes time to click and open. Another thing is this Vietnamese company's information is unknown. The founder's pictures or location or any identity on LinkedIn is unavailable. I cannot trace a single employee of this company.
Thanks for the heads up on this product. Will take a good look. And i like the “Buttery” rating. Maybe the start of a new food scale for rating applications. Toast = 👎. Double Cream = 👍🏻
I tried Upnote a while back. My biggest issue then was that it doesn't support the ".textbundle" format for export and import. Exporting only in Markdown is disappointing, as Markdown does a terrible at dealing with images and attachments. I will try the free version to see if it has improved at all.
@Minimlr Hmm, that's neat to hear. AN for me does take like a second to load sometimes, but I guess it would depend on how much upvote charges. I like AN because it's free, web-based, and has bi-directional linking.
Poorly done superficial video without actually diving deep or mentioning the full list of features. I wonder if you have actually used it for at least a month.

Looking for a evernote replacement, does upnotes has nested folders?
@@matixslp Yes you can make more than three level nested notebooks

I just moved from iOS to Android and I've been frustrated by how unusable keep notes is. I'll download upnotes now

Agreed, this review is a bit lightweight. He's missing some of the key UpNote features

same! Even at $30 now it's still worth it!

Thanks so much for your kind words Simon good to hear how you are using it for your own day-to-day stuff. It’s a great all-rounder.
I was hoping you'd make a video about Upnote! I purchased the lifetime plan a few months ago but never used the app. I'm going to start using it asap!
It's been great to use and the developers are responsive. I love it!

I changed my mind. This app is great and so much better than evernote. Syncing is great and instant. My new note app!
Have looked at upnote and it looks great. Downside is it doesn't have a web version.

I use upnote several months, and I think this is realle good aplication for really good price.
How is the export to pdf feature. Can you export everything with bookmarks or just 1 page at a time
is there a difference using tags or notebooks?
I love this app. as soon as i found it and seen what it does i purchased it. loved the video by the way. ❤
Thanks, glad it helped!

100% agree with this point. I really appreciate this app but it seems a ghost company is gathering all user data…
I have a lifetime license and find this take very interesting.
@@toolfinderhq Any follow-up to this?

This App is my ideal Evernote.
Is this app have scribble with apple pencile
Tried it based on another YT video. The app itself seems nice and fast, but the web clipper seems very limited compared to Evernote
I appreciate the video. There isn't a whole lot of information on Upnote. Would you mind making a video on how to import Evernote into Upnote? Thanks
Upnote also has Table of contents and backlinks as well which is a nice thing to have these days.
Good shout!

Not sure if I missed it but did he say if it syncs the notes across devices?
Not sure if he mentioned it, but it does. i use dell laptop and samsung android phone, and it syncs in 2 seconds.
Yes. I bought the $30 lifetime thing and have it on several devices.
The multiple color marker is something Bear definitely lacks.

One of our apps soon!

You could only export through TXT, but when you copy and paste on MS Word, you would get text with format.
Hope that help!
Wonder how it would compare to Amplenote… maybe quicker?
Cleaner. Much much cleaner and more intuitive save a couple features

If Google had a note-taking app, I wish it were exactly like that.
Seems like all it’s missing vs EN is the upload folder.
Any news on a note-dragging feature? 😮

Is there any APP where I can Select Multiple Hashtags and it will show the Note which have these Hashtags?
looks promising, thx
Sloppy video. And very sad it was mainly compared to Bear-app, which only has apps for MacOS and iOS.

Don't see a reason to spend on this when you can use Joplin or the many other markdown note apps that are free.
