- Pink Floyd Keyboard Player Richard Wright Solo Album : Wet Dreams : Steven Wilson
Remix Vs Original : Review
The remix wins hands down, just stunning. Quite possibly the best SW remix project so far.
I was curious more than anything but personally I would like to see more remixes rather than remastered releases. This is exceptional and elevates the album to a whole new level.

I may be in the minority here, but I listen to the solo albums of Richard Wright and Nick Mason far more than any solo releases from Waters or Gilmour. Have to check this out.
This is s great remix by Wilson. It really enhances the album. Now I can listen to it as often as Broken China. Every Floyd fan should listen.
Totally agree!
I love this album. The SW remix is superb. Nice review, too, Phil : )
Thank you 🙏
I've never listened to this album, and I love Pink Floyd. After hearing your review, I'm gonna have to pick this up! Thanks Phil.
Thank you for your measured, thoughtful and enthusiastic reviews Phil, much appreciated.
Thank you for watching - Phil
Hi Phil, I always was aware of this albums existence but never got round to investigating it. However, based on your glowing recommendation that has now changed. My local HMV had a single copy in stock. Looking forward to hearing all those great moments.
Enjoy !
I can’t wait for my copy to arrive still waiting however I loved the album when it came out. I had spent the year before listening to Animals and then the first David Gilmour and Richard Wright solo albums came out. To me both were logical extensions of Floyd and I loved them both and spent 1978 listening to them I think both albums should have more appreciation. I always wished Richards later albums were as good as this first one but the never affected me as much as this one. So happy it has a new and sounds like wonderful lease on life. Thank u Phil
Thank you 🙏
I've always loved this album. I remember seeing it in a record shop circa 1979. Being a crazy Floyd fan, I asked the very knowledgeable man behind the counter if it was any good and he said that he didn't like Pink Floyd, but when he played this album the first time, as soon as it was done, he flipped the album over and listened to it again. I must listen to the remix.
Totally agree with your assessment Phil. Soon as I heard the new mix, I went across all my social media pages and raved about it. Recommended to all. Especially Floyd fans. Folks will see and hear exactly where Rick fit into the group... and it was an important place in that group.
Hi Phil - Steve Wilson is THE man at the moment!! Have you ever thought of doing a tour of your music room / collection like a lot of other utubers do eg Sea of Tranquility, etc etc. I think that would be really interesting, as I see a lot of great collections on your bookshelves behind you in your videos. Cheers Doug
Have to admit Steve Wilson is one the best mixing engineers out there. I have not heard his new mix yet as I have pre-ordered the surround mix from the SDE shop that does not get released till the end of September. From this review, I am sure I have a real TREAT! in-store and that was a GREAT! review Phil.
Thank you 🙏 I imagine the 5.1 mix will be amazing 🤩
I liked it at lot and even more. This remix really pops all the goodies of the album. It still is my PF solo album. I'm looking for the 5.1 version.
I had this one on cassette back in the early 80's. Perhaps the sonics on that format might have been substandard, and maybe that was part of why I didn't listen to it all that much. This new remix sounds intriguing.....if Wilson thinks it's good enough to re-work it, there must be something good there worth exploring. Will check it out.
I think you will be amazed!
Steven Wilson is the most famous unknown person in music! And his new album is a masterpiece.
Sold! Buying it tomorrow 👍💯❤️
Just pre ordered the 5.1 Phil great presentation might order the cd also. The curse Phil.Just brought out my later cds of Purple after watching your video. All these albums are just so good.Have a good weekend
You too !
Love the last track of Wet Dream, Lalo Schifrin would've dug it.
Just seen Ian Anderson unboxing Broadsword and the Beast. Steve Wilsons name is all over that too. I await his remixes of the early Venom albums....
It is not an album that I have ever considered buying or listening to but I will stick it on my "To Buy" list - thanks for the review.
I think you will like this !
Thanks for all Phill !!!
I disagree. I can’t believe that Steven Wilson blew the mix on the very first track. The Guitar solo had that beautiful delay that is sadly missing here. How could he possibly miss hearing it on the original mix and not reproduce it here?
I bought the remix on vinyl and I’m listening to it for the 1st time. And I was looking for reviews like this because I was baffled by the missing guitar on the first track
Already preordered the vinyl, love the record… definitely one of the better Floyd solo projects. Even though Broken China is better, this is just a fun album.
Sounds great! I am not so sure why they keep messing with the artwork these days... PF has done it with Animals and MLOR too...
Oh man... another I never knew about . I love Snowy too...my favorite Lizzy is with him...yes it's true. I'm going to check this out straight away.
Hi Phil
Another great review as always.
Thank you 🙏
Are you using a benchmark a CD that was released 15 years later than the 1978 vinyl release? These first CDs of previously released LPs are usually very bad. Most of these reissue CDs were released on the late 80s and early 90s which is the case for this album. When available, I will compare the original vinyl against the new Wilson remix and then have an opinion.
I also played my original vinyl from 78
I recently mentioned the job lots of cheap secondhand albums I bought from Rock Record author Terry Hounsome. One great find amongst these was this Richard Wright album. I haven't listened to it since I converted it to CD a few years ago. I should give it an airing and decide whether to go for your recommended upgrade!
The upgrade here is immense !
I thought that wasn't out until end of September??
Critics get an advance copy.
The CD is out now, the vinyl version and Blu-ray are September - Phil
This CD version is available now
@@NowSpinningMagazine So....maybe you DIDN'T get an advanced copy.
BRILLIANT REVIEW!!!
I wish Rick was still around to appreciate it, seeing how the public totally ignored it when it was released.
Even though at the time I liked Gilmour's offering better, I DID buy it. I was all of 15 at the time! Unfortunately, I'm now 60!!!
Have the original on vinyl and cd. Ordered the new vinyl. I'm hoping it's a good quality pressing! Have the not so common, Broken China CD as well.
Update! I've received my vinyl copy and yes, it sounds good. I have yet to compare it to my original vinyl, but all in good time. Like the blue, ripple effect vinyl though!
Hi Phil, i know Nick Mason record, but not this one ! Vas tu faire un hommage pour Robbie Robertson ? It was a VERY good guitar player, thanks for discovery !🙏🤗
Totally agree.
Why does every single review of this re-issue fail to mention that "Waves" has been extended by almost one minute and includes some additional guitar never heard before?
Sorry, I forgot in my enthusiasm for the release. Thank you for adding the extra info for others to read. Phil
I would have preferred the original cover art.
my opinion of the album was its good but nothing special. i,ll check out the remix. Steven should receive knighthood.
