As UA-cam have moved the goals to become monetized, and I have a niche channel, funding is never going to happen, so I have set up a Patreon as I would like to get a higher speed upload, which means I get post more videos, AND in 1080
Takes me about 2.5 hours to upload a 15 minutes at the moment.
I will be giving credits to my supporters at the end of my videos from now on. I am very grateful to one and all!

If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! Maybe I can help!

hi, Mike another good little job , maybe a tiny squirt of silicone spray to ease the window. cheers Mick .
Hi!
Yes you could but, not many people open the windows, and the will rattle and compress the felt when driving
Mike
Nice one Mike my the 90 rattles like he'll. Will try it as it's a simple fix
Have fun! MWC7620 for the felt
Thanks for this video - its the one thing that drives me MAD in my V8 SW. Parts ordered..
Thank you so much for your videos! You are my go to guy when I have trouble with my D90. Keep up the great content!!
Thanks Jay!
Mike
hi mike. just looking back some videos i've not seen yet, but wow, what a cute haircut you had back then.......... :-) keep up the good work!
😀
I've just replaced mine thanks to this video.
It took me 20 mins to do both, and I only swore once under my breath.
Still a little rattle, but that's a small bit of the external rubber that's the problem, but so much better.
Thank you.
Worked a treat on my 90.
Thanks Mike that excellent and much appreciated, part numbers very helpful too, rattling has been driving me mad - a much better solution than mine jammed up with bicycle inner tubbing!
You're welcome Ken!
Anytime
Mike
A folded up beer mat between the glass panes on mine!
This is the best $15 I've spent on my Defender. Rattling fixed. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Brilliant. Saw the video Monday, bought the felt on Tuesday, fitted it on Wednesday in 20 minutes and 10 years of rattling windows over. Just in time for 350 miles to Scotland on Sunday. Giving the part number was really helpful. Thanks a lot.
You're welcome!
Mike
Can you tell me which side the sliding glass is supposed to be on these windows? I think some one has put the glass in the wrong way around.
Sliding part goes at the front
Could you do the same on truck cab rear window?
Very good question David - I am not sure - the last truck cab I did I took it to bits, as I needed to paint it - but that said why not have a go?!
@@BritannicaRestorations Job for the weekend if I can get the bits!
Legend. Cheers Mike!
Thanks
Mike
Cheers , very good video
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks mike, i have a 90 pickup and the Windows rattling like mad. Cheers. Suppose no ideas on how to get a better seating arrangement in a puma pickup. I have a td5 pickup and i find it better to sit in.
Thanks Michael
The window seal felts can be replaced in the pickup rear window too
Sadly in Canada, as we cannot import a vehicle that is under 15 years old, so I have not seen a Puma here to comment on, however I have had quite an improvement by fitting seat raisers between the seat and the seat base

Mike I’m hooked on your channel I’ve always grew up with land rovers, I’ve had one and I’ll get another eventually. Fancy a trip to the uk to come and look with me all expenses paid haha
I had an idea of popping to Europe to help folks with jobs - would make some good videos, but funding the trip would be an issue
Britannica Restorations Ltd well I’d always help out with what ever it cost put you up as well
Absolutely Brilliant Mike!!!
This is one of those jobs I have been putting off.... well, for years. I really didn't want to take the whole window out like they say in the other videos, (and after all it does make a good no-dose remedy). I already had some felt/rubber seals from Clark Rubber and it took me no more than 15 minutes to get the job done. No now rattling at all!
Thanks heaps and keep up the great work!
Yeap, some people make a whole song and dance about changing the felt seals - I can have them changed quicker than they can get their tools organised!
Pass this on to other guys who are suffering!
Glad it helped
Mike
Love your handy hints, keep it up!
I need to do this but the windows are jammed stuck. Is there anything I can do to get them open ? I’ve tried scraping the runners out but that’s not helped.
They can be very tight if not used for a long time - maybe try a light oil like WD40 to get them moving?
@@BritannicaRestorations ta. I'll give it a go.
After 9 months, how are these felts holding up?
Quite good
Hi Mike Thanks for posting this. I've heard this rattle in the back of my 90 for a few months now and never guessed it might be the windows! I've looked up the part you mention for the top of the windows (CZL000020) but I've also found that there's felt for the bottom of the windows as well (CZL000030). Would you recommend fitting/replacing both top and bottom or just the top strip of felt? Would the window slide OK with both strips in? From what I can see on my 90 there is perished felt along the bottom of the window. Thanks. Joe
Did you ever order and fit the felt for the bottom of the window?(CZL000030).
I'm about to do mine and was wonder if it was worth it.
@@markbway0131 I did. Fitted both sets of felt top and bottom and it's easy enough done. And definitely stopped the windows rattling. The old ones I took out were almost rotted away.
Now that's a nice method. Have some spare felt lying around but never fitted it because of all the work removing the window. Now I'll try your method :-)
I tried cutting felt and I had a hell of a time trying to get it parallel - then I found the right part CZL000020 for £10 - sorted!
Mike
I did order the felt some years ago, but I'll have to check the numbers. I remember the dealer asking me for the purpose and changing the numbers of my order. Maybe he already gave me the right ones.
I think you cannot get the 'proper' felts - the ones I used were from a very early 110 or 90. As I mentioned they are a tad short, but work great!
(and so easy to fit if you follow the vid)
Mike
Thanks for your help, Mike! Having in mind, that it must be very early morning in Canada now (east or west?) and you're already answering youtube comments I appreciate it even more *thumbs up*
I'm in Eastern Canada in Quebec of all places!
I get used to starting early as I have to get my UK parts orders in before 10.00 am UK time
Mike
what was that part#?
In the description below the video
I had no idea it was that simple to remedy, cheers Mike.
That's right - you guys have been putting up with rattles for years and it takes 15 minutes to fix!
Lol!
Thanks!
Mike
I used some Woolies Trim window channel part nr 50 www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/1649/window-channel hope it will not wear through.
They do rolls of plain felt too which may be similar to the original stuff -- seals-window channel -plain felt, no connection just a happy customer.
I used the same on the top channels, but found it made the windows difficult to close if used in the corners and front channel, so kept the felt there. I just have to get rid of the rattles from the bottom plastic channel - a temporary winter botch was to insert strips of plastic to wedge the glass, but that prevents opening in warm weather. I'll probably use more channel from Woolies.
Mudstuff.co.uk stock a replacement rubber seal made in the US specifically for the job - it has a cross section with grip ridges to fit the frame. It's meant to be very good, buts it's extremely expensive.
