Nice! I do plan to keep it up, with the occasional different video for April Fools, Halloween, etc. (Plus Severance might interrupt the series at some point…)
The dealer episodes really expose that Breaking Bad has no idea how to deal drugs. Not just Walt, but Skinny Pete and Badger too. You don't just front every junkie on the street. Either they have the money, or they don't get anything. You're not meant to be chasing junkies down for your money.
@@betterwatchtv Yeah I’m not sure how to interpret it. You can tell she feels awkward talking about it. I think it confirms that Skyler definitely at least had feelings for Ted before Breaking Bad. Maybe Ted’s “Mr. Grabbyhands” incident wasn’t as one-sided as we think? Also, remember Skyler staring at the picture of the two of them back in S2E1? Maybe they had an affair before the show even started?
John Shiban (who'd worked with Vince on The X Files) wrote this one (except for the song lyrics, which were Vince's and then he had them tweaked and translated), the first of three and a half that he penned (the others being 'Phoenix', 'Sunset' and half of 'Abiquiú'). He'd also direct 'Sunset' and three BCS eps. Speaking of directing, Félix Alcalá did this one and Lynne Willingham edited it. Alcalá's fluency in Spanish was instrumental for this episode as some of the band members couldn't speak English at all, and only one of them more or less communicated in Spanglish. I wonder if Vanco's injury foreshadowed Leonel Salamanca's some episodes later. The group who did the song, Los Cuates de Sinaloa, is led by of two blokes who happen to be cousins, unintentionally (or, at least, coincidentally) connecting to the Salamancas (two brothers and two or three cousins, assuming there was at some point another male gangster who sired Joaquín). While they were rehearsing, they started whistling and Thomas asked them to record that as well. The extended version of the track namedrops Tuco and Krazy 8.
@@betterwatchtv ua-cam.com/video/Qw11QX7P_s8/v-deo.htmlsi=EzUZU6TgLkgz0FiC I misremembered, though: they mentioned Tuco, not Emilio. It's now been corrected.
How did the Cartel know that Tortuga was a snitch? Bolsa says his brother is a police chief. One of these guys in the hotel room was probably working for the cartel, and that's how they learned.
Good point! He seemed to be involved with the DEA for so long, that there might have been several opportunities for them to find out and wait for the right moment for revenge.
When jessie asks jane if she wants to see his tv, you can hear funeral bells ringing in the background forshadowing her demise for accepting the invite.
fun fact: in Brazilian portuguese translation, a blowfish is a "baiacu". This word's last syllable, cu, means "ass" or "butthole"in portuguese. So someone made an edit removing the "baia" part, making jesse sound like he's saying "I'M AN ASS!!!"

something I recall reading was that in this episode as Jane and Jesse waits for the TV to connect, the text there naturally displays: "*Searching for Connection . . .*", yet that's indirectly symbolic of Jane and Jesse searching for a connection in each other, and then we see them form it as they held each other's hands and became a couple soon after
I've got a mystery for ya that's been driving me crazy... Who is that green umbrella man in the narcocorrido on the left side of the RV? He's very visually striking but I can't seem to figure out what he's supposed to represent. Any ideas?
Great question!! I must admit that I hadn't previously thought about it. I think the umbrella person is supposed to be Jesse, as "Walt" is on the other side of the RV. As for why "Jesse" is holding an umbrella... Someone had suggested it's a symbol of money laundering, but I can't really find much evidence of that. The most popular theory seems to be that it's just a way to indicate the surrealism of the sequence, as umbrellas are often associated with surrealist paintings!
Never noticed this before but is it worth noting that Jesse coming clean to Jane as soon as his cover’s blown got them closer as opposed to Walt coming clean to Skyler when he had no other choice tore them apart?

I never thought about the buried part, but you’re right. Is it just a flawed special effect (as it’s easier to have the explosion come from under the sand)? Because I do believe that the removal of the head is supposed to be what triggered it, like the turtle was a bomb.
@betterwatchtv without a doubt the bomb is located inside the head (probly emptied the brain and put the bomb in through the neck) and lifting the head up may have a wire that pulled the trigger similar to a landmine or a claymore
Great episode! Detail 4 was awesome, I never caught that! I’ve seen BB more times than I can count but for some reason I don’t seem to remember Marie saying that line about ‘is Mr Grabby-hands still there?’ When Skyler says she is working for Beneke, but I’m confused… So Marie is referring to Ted at the Christmas party incident but doesn’t realise Ted is the ‘Beneke’ AKA her new boss? That makes that future scene where he shows up unannounced and Marie is there even more suss.. Am I missing something here? Maybe I’m just tired I should know this 😂 Also BB has always felt grounded with natural dialogue but that scene with the biker going ‘you’re pinkman!’ always felt like the most unnatural, weird moment in a close to flawless show to me. What do you think? Again awesome episode, loved being a 🐢
Thanks!! Yeah, and the old turtle cartoon is so surreal. My favorite part of each video is thinking how to feature you guys, and this turtle one is my favorite! Marie probably never saw Ted before... Skyler probably just told her about the incident after an office Christmas party. And Ted's dad used to be the boss, so Marie might have assumed that was still true, like Walt did. So Ted could have left the company in theory. Yeah, "You're Pinkman" was unnatural. Both the acting and the coincidence! Although acting-wise, the most unnatural thing that comes to mind for me is the background family reactions in "4 Days Out" at the end when Walt is told the good news. Mainly the way Junior and Hank react while others are talking. 🤷♂ Thanks again!
