Maks looked so sweet. He has said in the past that Kristie was his favorite partner (that was before Meryl, of course), and it's such a shame that Kristie's scientology screwed up their friendship.
I have thought the same about how their friendship/closeness was ruined supposedly because of Scientology. It would be very sad to me if I lost such a close, playful, and loving friendship.
@PaulieDi I figured someone would make the comment of Kirstie's weight contributing to Maks' mishap. That is just ridiculous. What excuse do you want to give in reference to when Derrek Hough knocked 100 pound Jennie Garth on her butt during a live performance? Give me a break... Maks had a unfortunate mis-step caused by his thigh muscle (which by the way was probably a lifetime problem since his ski accident years ago) giving out. I was proud of them both and hope Maks feels better soon.
I like the fact that this is a LIVE show, so there's no way to edit the incident out of what the viewer saw. I really liked the way Maks was able to recompose, settle it down and resume tempo. He wasn't thrown by the incident, and he helped Kirstie to resume the routine without any further problems. In a weird way, it added something to the performance.
Dance anymore because of the injury. His thigh really just gave out. Doesnt have anything to do with Kristie.. Poor Maks! Amazed at how he pushed through the pain though. That's why I love him!
That was a really beautiful number. I didn't notice the mistake and they scored you to low. It was similar to something you would see on the Lawrence Welk Show. Really great.
He's a grown man and can't support 200lbs?! I'm a 5ft 2 woman and push a total of 400lbs on the seated leg press at a rep of 15. That's equal to TWO kirsties! I find a hard believeing a grown man not to mention athlete, can't support 200lbs.
If you look at the video you can see that Kirstie put more of her weight on his leg and body than she was supposed to. She leaned in against him and that was her mistake-- that's when he fell. He would not have choreographed a dance that would cause him to fall. She put too much weight on him and she wasn't supposed to lean in. maybe she lost balance or something. But, he was a gentleman about it.
Even though Maks said his thigh gave out, I feel that the weight of Kirstie's leg resting on Maks' hip was too much, that this is the reason why his left thigh gave out. My heart sank when this happened, and I hope Maks is OK! For Maks to get up, brush himself off and to continue, it goes to show you what a true professional he is, and that the dance must continue on. And that they did, which was beautiful, and so was the song.
seems like this was only yesterday. this was one of the best choices she ever made and what chemistry they had. such a great pairing. i really enjoyed it when she did this show.
