My arm is broke....I showed this video to my 14 yr old and he got er done in 30 minutes
Thats great! I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and check out my other videos.
Looking at an 08 equinox for my 17 yr old daughter. I’m a back yard mechanic, I could do this. My question is, what is you’re opinion of the equinox? 05 thru 09 body style? Anything to look out for?
@@berniebittinger9154 wheel hubs usually go bad on the rear about 120,000 miles. Will break the abs sensor. Its all integrated in hub assembly
run don;t walk to the toyota dealer. Aside from my wife's buick lesabre, the 2007 equinox is the biggest money pit of a car I have ever owned.
Last winter, on a friend's '07 Equinox, I had to disassemble the whole friggin dash to find a dead "blend door" actuator/motor (the reason she had no heat.) She was smelling antifreeze, so I went a little deeper to replace the heater core (it had pinholes in it.) Most shops charge $1500-$2000 for that job. -- It was a royal pain to disassemble. "Engineers" are purposely making U.S. vehicles more difficult to do "maintenance/repair."
I have an '89 Jeep Cherokee that I am keeping roadworthy for as long as possible (doing 99% of the work myself.) If I ever buy another vehicle it will be another "older" vehicle or a Toyota. Subarus are great until they break down: they are "pain"-to-work-on vehicles.

My man, you made my day. I was at the End of the line for options and then came your video. Your instructions are clear, understandable and to the point. You're at the Top of the proverbable UA-cam Video Food Chain.
You gave me the help that I needed to check and change the transmission fluid in my 2005 Chevy Equinox.
Thank you Sir
From an old man with an old 2005 Equinox, I want to thank you very much for the video.
Very welcome!
Thank you for the video. I am so sick of people making cars so complicated. NO WAY IN HELL should all this be needed to check or just top off transmission fluid.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately these complications are becoming more and more common with late model vehicles.
They are designed to not be checked for exposure to air brakes down these fluids extremely rapidly
@@0s4k26 WTHeck ?! When did this all start ? Use a better fluid ! The Manufacturer that is !
@@0s4k26 Or seal tube at the top !
Justin Martone thirty years ago the trans fluid was modified water compared to the synthetic junk there is now. I know of several 06 noxes at the dealership where we got ours all but one already had dark brown fluid rolling off the carrier from the factory.
Great when someone teaches with clear logic, that builds confidence.
Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
Excellent instructional video. Well-paced, clear video with excellent audio and narration. Thank you sir. I now have the confidence to tackle this job.
You're the only one just about...that actually show how to really do it. Bout dam time there's a real mechanic showing actually helpful shit on UA-cam. Keep up the great work man 👍👍👍
Excellent video! This is how all the diy videos should be done!
Excellent detailed information! Thanks so very much. You have a great, no nonsense, approach that is complete and easy to follow.
Very well done. Your camera was steady, and the views were clear. Good advice, and easy to understand. I have subscribed. Thank you for the help. Chevy garage wants $175 to do it on a 2014 Equinox.
Awesome video. I saw that yellow dipstick when I was changing my starter but had no idea that's what it was. I would have never found it. Thanks so much.
Tried this today. I followed your instructions step by step and it took me about 45 minutes. Thanks a lot!
That's great! I'm glad I could help!
Without or with lift?
Without this video I'd be still searching the engine, who in there right mind decided to put the dipstick there, great video
a dipstick..
The manufacturer hoping you’ll bring it back to there dealership to pay for them to service it to get more of your money smh
Thanks for the vid helped me out a bunch. And thanks for making a quality that is well lit as well. Much appreciated.
Wow Thanks for posting this Video! Doing this job became the bright spot in a really crappy day
Thank you for the video. Very informative and no added nonsense. 200,000 miles and still running strong on our 2006 equinox.
Thanks for the feedback!
Same here thank u I have a 2007 Chevy equinox
@@Tomsfoolery. I asked a couple of questions but just trying to make sure you see them. First I want to thank you. My questions. You mentioned filling and then running g through the gears. Just wondering what that entails. Do I just start the vehicle and move the shifter through all the L1 and L2 to reverse? Also how much do you put in? I saw where it says initial fill 4.2 and total fill 8.2. Thanks
Thanks I've looked everywhere for the dipstick now I know thanks to your video have a good day
I’m glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
i did it, it took me two hours, my hourly time is 10 bucks so thats twenty bucks, VS the 400 bucks that they wanted at the dealership.
bless your soul, thank you so much.
great video. I knew it was buried somewhere but not where. Removing the mount was as easy as you showed and the job was simple.
I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
this is precisely what I was looking for!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks and love the honesty. It is a quality that has gone right to hell in most service centers today you end up with a huge bill and it was totally unnecessary. The difficulty is finding a Garage that hoists your car up so you can do the work yourself, with a trained mechanic should you run into a problem. They have these in Toronto but not in the rest of Canada.
Saved me a bunch of money!
My '08 Equinox 3.4L 6 cyl., Auto Transmission Aisin AF33 5 speed requires JWS 3309 formulation, T-IV, Toyota T-IV is the cheapest at $6.20/qt., if you ask for that price. Very thankful that you made this video!
Yah, buy the cheapest. For sure.
Thank you for this!! What a pain this Equinox has been. Don't get me started on the blend door and heater core locations!! Lol!
Haha I hear ya! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for the video one thing I found it easier for me was to put the long bolt first when installing the bracket back not tightened it let it loose then put the other 3 and tighten them all
Thanks buddy! Saves me from buying the service manual. Never would have figured it out on the jack stands.
I had no clue until this video...Thank you for this valuable info!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Just finished, thanks for the information. It was very helpful.
Awesome video! Spent an hour trying to locate dipstick, thank you. I small correction transmission pan drain plug on a 2006 pontiac torrent takes a 24 mm or a 15/16. 7/8 is to small.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
Wow I have looked for hours and decided to get on utube and see if there was a video.. thank God for you. I have a 2013 and didn't know that they are all possibly difficult. Smh thanks so much 💪✌️👍
Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to do the video. Very informative.
Thanks so much!! Who would have thought GM could make it so difficult to check one's transmission fluid? Anyway, the only slight criticism would be that you didn't speed up unscrewing one of the bolts... Meaning, you crammed a bunch of info into 5 minutes.
So again, thank you!!
C
Thank you I learned something new today!
Thank you. You showed me exactly what I needed to see.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Convinced me that I need to take it to a professional for this job.
On my ‘05 I found that it’s possible to do all of this with the vehicle still sitting on the ground. It’s a big pain, but it is “doable”.
Thanks for the great video!
How
I found the tranny dip but couldn’t figure out how to get to the damn thing out….thanks for clearing it up for me!! So great to be able to get help to do the job myself
Thank you for the video. Our family vehicle needs transmission fluid and we could not find out where it was or how to get to it. Thank you very very much
This was a great help, thank you.
Thanks For The Help, you showed how to do it nice and easy no non-sense.
Still rocking this 2006 equinox. 100% helpful my man! Thank you!
Glad to help!
Very well explained. Thank you very much!
thank you sir for the video is a great help for me.
Thank you for the competent explanation.
Best video I've seen and I've seen quite a few of these, great common sense detail, told me exactly what I needed to know , thanx Tom .
Awesome, thank you!

Glad i could help! Thanks for watching!
great video! really helped me out.thanks much!!
thanks for the video! very helpful!
I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Yes sir I have looked everywhere. Thank you very much for the video.
U are a god sent I have been going nuts trying to find that dip stick thanks god for you DIY guys on UTUBE
Wtf? Id wish i could meet the engineers that thought this up
I know right!
They deserved as ass kicking.
Engineers vetoed this arrangement but we're overruled by purchasing, endorsed by accounting.
Me too.this is one of the craziest things I've ever seen
This is how they say Thanks for the BILLIONS
We should have known when we bailed them out, bastards.
Next time I want a kiss, at least I'll receive something for getting screwed !
Thank you ! Thank you! THANK YOU BROTHER!
Thanks buddy, you just saved me an enormous amount of time.
Glad I could help
Thanks. Have a good day!
You as well!
Very good video your instructions are the best ! Now if i could find a video on the 2022 Equinox it would be great .
I can't believe someone who doesn't talk about the weather, their wife running off with their best friend, and everything that has absolutely nothing to do with vehicle repair and service. Thanks
I know the frustration of wanting to quickly get info on something but getting bogged down by useless rambling! I try to be to the point on my videos. Thanks!
The best video ever, good job
Great video. Thanks for posting.
Thanks!
Excellent video, and thank you!
New subscriber here! Great video, thank you! So easy to follow your instructions.
Thanks!
Best vid yet on this

Omg it looks so simple. Gonna go try it right now.
Yeah if you have a hoist
Thank you God bless you guys for sharing this 🙏
Thanks!
thank you I really learn something today
Thanks for watching!
Great information...Now all I need is a hoist to change my transmission fluid..
You don’t have to have one...but it helps!
pretty cool video, thank you
You literally just saved me 3000 dollars thank you brotha
Hey no problem! That will be $2995 for the video...haha!
I got you a dollar lol
3000 ? Find a dif mechanic !!
Thanx so much!! Really appreciate your video and instructions :))
your way of explaining is SO right on... absolute joy to watch and repeat...thanks a million
Very helpful thank you
I'm glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
Thanks man good video
Thanks for watching!
Thank God for this video 🙏🙌
Thank you ! 👍
Thanks so much. Now I know I have to take it to a shop .
Not sure why so many are complaining about doing this. This video shows that it is easy and it was. If you don't have a lift use ramps or jacks and stands. If you don't have that you really have no business working on vehicles. I love my Equinox after 7 years and 100K miles.
Yes you can use ramps, just make sure it is level. Or you can straddle a ditch and crawl under it like I do.
That's a great video it's very useful
Your video was helpful
Thank you for video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info🇺🇸🤟
Good video . Thanks.
Thank you brother!!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice video!! Interesting
Thanks!
Your amazing brudda 💯
thank you i learned a lot
That’s good to hear! Thanks for watching!
OMG.
Thanks for the heads up
awesome buddy thanks for sharing
I got my 2010 equinox a couple years ago and have searching high and low for how to check the trans fluid. The chilton manuals haven't been no help, none of those manuals. All they tell ya is what kind of fluid, not where the dipstick is located or how to get to it. the repair maunal is dead silent about anything involving the transmission checks, guess there is a reason for that, lol. Thank you, i know where it is and how to get to it, and to think i was just about to take it to a dealership to get it done. lol
Wow good job buddy I agree they made it like that so you go to the dealership what a deal
Great video.
Thank you
This video has more details thanks
Thank u sir best described
Yes it did help, thank you
GOOD JOB!!
Thank you!
Good job.
Thanks
Thank you so much
dang man, I wish I new how many quarts it takes to fill that back up. and also, every transmission fluid I ever checked said check it when its running , hot. all the dang wires running to the starter in the way of easily pulling that dip stick from the top. I mean to check it when its hot and running idle.
Wow thanks so much
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Tankyou very much i was wonder how to check the trans fluid i look and look and i can't see it very helpful video save. Me alot money the i. Dont have
Thank u! Thank U...It took me 4 hours to get to that bolt just to take the dipstick off.lol But now I know to jack it up and remove the bracket .Much easier and quicker.. what type of fluid u used and how many quarts u used?
4.5 qts i used t-iv from toyota oem
Thanks buddy.
