@@doeboy84yeah pretty much, I used to be a HUGE magazine reader. Like every week since 2006, I would buy multiple magazines every week. XXL, Complex, The Source, GQ, Rolling Stone, Sole Source, Sneaker Freaker and etc.
I actually still smh at the amount of money I used to spend a month on that. Even tho it did provide me with a lot of good entertainment and inspiration. But 2016 is just about the time where I started to slow down and stop buying magazines as a whole. Because I was seeing how things were becoming easily accessible online and how that era was just about to die.

@ 0:24 that’s not true Julian. They DO in fact have little catchphrases or titles for each XXL cover along with the artists names either under or above the title. Last years was “All Eyes On Us”, 2022’s was “Breaking The Mold”, 2021 was “Out Of This World”, and 2020’s was “Believe The Future” and 2019’s was “Made For This”, etc. Don’t like or understand why for this year’s title they conveniently put “Not Like Us”, but to say they don’t do that is false.
Kdot was also behind the scenes on the Jcole XXL freshman list, it's where they actually met for the first time

XXL didn't miss on Drake. SFG dropped right before the cover shoot so there wasn't enough time to assess whether to change the line up or not. Best I Ever Had was blowing up right when the magazine dropped. Just bad timing. That's why they did a special article on him that summer and tried to get him to do 2010 and build that class around him & Nicki.
