Subscribed, looks like you have all of Allingham. Francis Matthews has a good narrating style. The AI for closed captions can usually handle it, although at one spot, Mr. Matthews says "Nor was he" rather quickly and AI renders "nausea" . and I do love the understated Penguin book covers. Very easy to spot in the lineup too!
Oh, Margery. "The bison of a woman...changed to sycophantic mooing as she recognized her parish priest." Margery, you do not hold back but you do it with such style.
Thanks for this suggestion. I looked up some reviews and it sounds like it will be a good read. "She has also won the Nebula Award for Best Short Story (1968), the Hugo Award for Best Novel (1977) and the Locus Award for Best Novel (1977) to mention but a few." DQ didn't win an award itself but she seems to have had a long career from 1956 to 2018. Not unlike M. Allingham herself, to bring it back to this video!
And M. Allingham makes the characters distinct enough that you can always keep track of who is talking, with the skillful voice work of Francis Matthews.
There was a lot of strange things investigated after the war, some truly preposterous. Perhaps, it was a reaction to the new world after atomic warfare had become a reality. Also, there was a hope for a world where the horrors of warfare were at an end.
Marvellous, thank-you for the Marjorie Allingham books, I’ve enjoyed each & everyone of them gave me hours & hours of pleasure . Many thanks xx
I love these chatty novels. You also have the best narrator. Thank you

Thank you.
What a great nOvelist. Can not wait until I can get the new one
Revelation is singular.
Sort of reminds me of Kate Wilhelm's book, Death Qualified, where mystery and science fiction are intertwined...

Narrator Francis Matthews
Totally agree. So much more interesting. Make the story more like conversation.
And M. Allingham makes the characters distinct enough that you can always keep track of who is talking, with the skillful voice work of Francis Matthews.
The "science" premise is so preposterous it's hard to appreciate the plot and characterizations.

I can’t make head or tail of this book and I normally like them
