A capacity crowd at the St Jakob Park in Basle thrilled to a colourful football spectacle on Monday evening; following FIFA President Joseph S Blatter's greeting to the crowd and VIP guests, two teams of world superstars put on a gala show to delight the 30,000 fans packed into the ground.
The Match against Poverty, staged by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), saw "Ronaldo and Friends" claim a narrow 4-3 victory over "Zidane and Friends". The France midfielder, voted FIFA World Player of the Year for the third time that afternoon, was on typically expansive form and fired his side's first two goals.
The crowd was treated to some delightful skill and cunning tricks by the world-class ensemble. Ronaldo's team included Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo while Zidane's eleven featured Vitor Baia, Samuel Eto'o, David Beckham, Davor Suker and Murat Yakin. Up and coming striker Robinho fired a brace for Ronaldo's men, the equaliser after Zidane's opener and the winner for the 4-3 final scoreline, with the Brazil man's other goals coming from Diego and Savio. Fabiano was on target for their opponents' third.
Revenues from ticket sales and donations topped 1 million Swiss francs (approximately 650,000 Euro) with all proceeds earmarked for good causes.
15 December 2003: UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors Ronaldo and Zinédine Zidane, along with such stars as England's captain David Beckham and Brazilians Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos, raised more than US$800,000 for anti-poverty projects in developing countries at a soccer match in Basel, Switzerland. Thanking the players, UNDP Administrator Mark Malloch Brown said: "By sharing their time and talents, they have made a great difference towards winning the match against poverty."
Actively supported by FIFA, the match took place after the 2003 World Player Gala, during which Zinedine Zidane was awarded World Player of the Year.
FIFA’s President, Joseph S. Blatter says “FIFA is very pleased to support this initiative as a further effort in our corporate social responsibilities with various UN organizations and others to help disadvantaged people, including children. This match against poverty is remarkable because the wish to organize it came from two of the most outstanding players in the world.”
“It’s a real thrill to have my friends join me to raise awareness and take a stand against the deprivation that plagues one fifth of the world’s population,” said Ronaldo.

I added everything from this match and i never saw that skills .. can you send it ? :D
@@Beeko99OfficialHD There was an attack - think it was in the 1st half. Robinho ran on the left wing, stopped right outside the box and placed his right foot on the ball then he was trying to make it like he's cleaning his shoe laces and quickly ran away from the defender into the box.
