I have an Ampeg BA-112v2 and it sounds godly if you’re playing metal. My preferred eq for my amp is to cut the bass to about 40%, boost the mids all the way, boost the treble to about 60%, and put both of the Ultra Lo and Ultra Hi switches on for a bit more punch and compression. For the drive, I put both knobs at 60%. If you have any Ampeg product with the Ultra Lo/Hi switches and Scrambler, have an aggressive style of playing, and play metal, you really need to try this out.
Fam i have the v1 ba108 mid all the way up with high and lows flat or a slight boost to the treble with a tube screamer level up gain at 9 oclock tone wat 2 oclock using a p bass with the tone knob disconnected. It sounds fierce
Great review! Thank you for showing how this sounds playing finger-style. When demo'ing any kind of overdrive/distortion bass pedal, so many gear reviewers immediately grab a pick and start playing metal. Not everyone is in a Tool cover band....Some of us play finger-style and just want some grit and grind available.
I like the sustain to the Bass effects, What i'm after. The sustain effects gives great sounds especially for featured Sci-Fi like Prometheus , The Martian, Real events horror movies like Winchesters just to name a few. I am a composer for Film Based. I have 6 strings Bass. Thank you for the sound test. Sound test are very important.
I just got my ampeg analog preqmp pedal delivered here yesterday and I cant wait till my ampeg ba 110 gets here on January 5th and that amp has the built in scrambler distortion but I mainly wanted thr analog preamp because im not real big on bass distortion . but I know that preamp will sound great with. my humbuckers in my Jackson JS3 concert bass . cant wait to get my amp but the pedal looks great !
Just got this recently and its just solid! One question though. The input power requirement says "9-12V DC 100mA". Does it mean the pedal is compatible with both 9v and 12v adapters? If so, what is the difference between the two of them? Is there a difference in the performance of the pedal?
So many pedals on the market now, it can send you crazy. If you are using your Bass just at home or in the studio it is better if you purchase Amplitube were you can use all of the famous Ampeg amps and cabs with the frequency function. It sounds the closest to the actual amp/cab and is far cheaper.
Hello. Thanks for the review. I ask you a question. Is it true that it also serves as a return for the live shows? That is to say: 1) Line out to the console 2) Putting my headphones on "phones" 3) Connect a cable from the console to AUX-IN and control the volume with the desired mix from the pedal (AUX-IN)
Great review, thanks! So if you had to pick one, would it be the SCR-DI or the Sansamp VT Bass DI? I realize the SCR has a couple extras (headphones and aux in) but if you had to choose based just on tone?
Evan Bradley That's a tough call. The SCR really nails that classic Ampeg sound but I think the VT Bass has better-sounding gain. If you're looking to have drive on most of the time, go with the VT. If drive isn't really your thing, go with the SCR. Hope that helps.
You can send the unaffected signal to an amp from the thru output. You can use the xlr and regular line out at the same time and connect them both to different power amplifiers.
MXR bass DI is a really excellent pedal but the saturation section is different. On MXR it's a distortion when the Ampeg has an overdrive. If you prefer an overdrive choose the Ampeg. If you prefer a distorsion choose the MXR. Both are excellent and you will not be disappointed regardless of your choice.

12v should give you more head room
this pre amp reminds me the classic svt
Es un maquinon! Me lo acabo de comprar y es realmente muy bueno .

I won this at BPL! Great pedal
+Johnny Flores So did we! It's awesome!
Are these good for using straight through a Desk for a gig instead of carting an amp around?
@@soeffingwhat Absolutely 👍

Yes. The aux in only appears in the headphone out.
How do you compare this ampeg scr-di to ehx battalion? Planning to buy one of this preamp.
I've got both... Man... It's all about the strings and the bass setup. If you have that under control... Everything will sound just fine
ok.
thanks for answering.
im going to try one out today.
thanks again

Awesome, thanks for the input and the quick reply!
Evan Bradley No problem! Thanks for watching.

Nice review
Btw ,what do you think about the EHX hot tubes on bass? Could you do a video?
+Kazoo Jones We haven't tried it but we'll do a video as soon as possible.
This is great, gotta have it!
can i use phantom 48V for power ?
It would have been great if the Ultra high and low changed the frequencies rather then just the tone.
Always personally found the "ultra low" to be a suck switch.
The whole unit is a SUCK unit. I sent it back.
Does anyone know whether you can bi amp with this pedal? It looks like there are 2 outputs but I cant tell

This or ebs microbass 3
Yeah man!
Parametric e.q.?
this or mxr bass di?
Alpha Omega Ultra

whats the amp your going through
jamie c I don't exactly remember what we ran through, but I think it was a GK combo.
Not too bad, but you describe the EQ as 3 band "parametric" but of course it's not (not even semi-parametric).
Nofx tone
Sounds like you lose bottom end.
Sounds nazley.
Great pedal.please don't slap it's fucking annoying
