Don't get scared off by the bad audio quality at the start of the video. The rest of the audio clips are better in quality. :) Truth in Game Design: ua-cam.com/video/C5FUtrmO7gI/v-deo.html Design Reboot: ua-cam.com/video/K0kup_anLeU/v-deo.html PRACTICE 2014: ua-cam.com/video/5xgeZ16HpH0/v-deo.html
@@stephenkamenar A part of me was telling me that the video is ridiculously pretentious and dumb. But I'm now glad that I kept it the way it is. I made it sincerely and I believe that the ideas in the video are big and important. Most people seem to like it too. I guess it's common to have a negative inner voice.
Very well put, both from J. Blow and your editing. This is also true of storytelling, make your characters true and find out where they go and what they do. Don't ever be sure of everything or it will be boring.
Thanks Blow fan i love to hear J.B's thoughts and look forward to seeing Jai come into use, but i dont have the time to sit through long streams. J.B has some great ideas and says things other people cant find the place or words for.
I love how Jonathan Blow treats games as something truly important and meaningful, and not just as entertainment. I feel like no one else takes games as seriously as him. It's very inspiring.
“The universe itself has an unlimited supply of generosity and surprise built in, and as designers we only need to keep our eyes open to what is here.” Great quote.
He's talking about God. Actual God, not the stupid modern religious idea of God. Give the glory of everything you do to God and you will be free and 100 times more creative.
Great video! I believe this is the first of yours I've seen but as a "Blow fan" as well I will be checking out many more :-) I think a game that comes close to depicting the vastness of the universe is (in scope) is No Man's Sky. Perhaps not the vastness of possibilities, though with each update they are getting closer to that too.
This is my favorite video on my channel probably partly because I put more creative effort into it. I'm a fan of Jonathan Blow mostly because of his game design philosophy.

Thanks, keep 'em coming!
Bad audio quality makes it even more like an Alan Watts / Terence McKenna video.
These are valuable, thanks
Neatly edited, good job on this one!
poorly edited, too much dead air, trying to sound epic, the original talk was better

Thanks! I made more creative decisions in this one than usual. There's also more audio editing than it seems.
@@BlowFan i love you

Thanks a lot! I put more of myself into this video than usual. I was starting to feel that it wasn't good but I'm pretty satisfied with it now.
@@BlowFan You did great work and it shows how you've improved! Keep at it with this channel or any other project :)
Starts like one of those Terence McKenna / Alan Watts videos. Also ends.
Interesting idea - capturing a cosmic truth into a game.
great message and editing im playing the wittnes and really enjoying the product of blow's thinking and art

Mmmmm yummy yummy you isolated the part of what he says I love the most.
I tried to include only the clips that are essential. I also edited some of them to be more concise without changing the meaning. :)
