  • Members of Operation Dudula in Soweto are calling for spaza shops in
SA to be exclusively owned by locals. Soweto Network Alert
representative, Nancy Mabena claims that some White City residents are
defending foreign spaza shop owners. The organisation is demanding that

Not just the parents. It’s the narratives the politicians has been able to push into the mainstream. Unfortunately it will backfire on in the long run.
Until citizens understand that this mini business owners don’t owe them nothing other than pay government taxes.. pay rent, utility bills. Let people open their own shops. Hold government accountable to support the citizens with business grant’s to be able to do business competitively

Nobody is stopping any of the great South African son’s and daughters. It requires money to run a business regardless how little. This people so concerned with this operation should pay more attention in educating the citizens how how better to take advantage of the business environment and the opportunities that it offers. And help them to access government grants to run such business effectively.
If the locals where doing the business already in those spaces.. this so called foreigners won’t see any space to open their shops. It is because there’s gap and the opportunities exists that’s why they foreigners take advantage of it.
It also shows how business minded most of the foreigners are. It’s not easy for someone to travel thousands of kilometers to discover opportunities that exists locally in another country where most of the citizens didn’t initially saw.
It should be an eye opener to citizens and government as to how to participate in this kind of investment opportunities in various communities.
I was hoping this people should be more concerned of collecting the due taxes for governments use. If you chase them you are not opening the shop tomorrow or next. The politicians has really did a bad job in mobilizing mobs against people who come into SA to do small business… I wished the politicians had better alternatives to empower citizens instead of helping most of them nurture hate for no justifiable reasons. This is really a sad situation. I hope we get this things right through rightful information and empowering citizens to engage productively in these opportunities

This is definitely the wrong way to approach the situation 30% to the community, who exactly will get the 30%, which particular individuals? Better the complete removal of the Spaza shops, so that they may be owned by South Africans.

If Dudula is brave enough why can't they confront the local business people who sold their spaza shops to the Foreigners and approach the Home affairs department to check what visas or permits type was granted to them..than try to steal their hardworked income ?...
