Did you swap yours? Was it easy with it being Awd? I have a 07 Denali XL Awd also.

The amount of care that obviously went into this work was just stellar. Nothing stupid, just what is needed to make the job go really well. Honestly I have never cleaned the bell housing surface myself. Never even thought about it other than maybe a quick wipe. This video tells me there is a reason for it even if I can't see it. I would have you work on my vehicle blindfolded before I would let the avg tech around here get within 10ft of it.

Just picket up my same year Tahoe from having a GM Reman engine installed. Same exact job. Wow! you are a BEAST !!!!!! I wanted to understand what all had to be done and what could be done wrong to mess up the job, just in case so I knew what to look for and anticipate or notice. Thank you. You did a super awesome, great job demonstrating this huge job. I already knew why the cost is what it is. No complaint there and this shows why. GM Dealer did the work so you know. but I hope their tech was as good and thorough as you.

Joe..You are awesome! I've got a basket case Escalade with every light on and cannot scan. I'm going to try replacing the engine. I took it to another shop and all he did was replace the battery and walked away from it

Nice video series Joe. It's always nice to show the customer what you did and cleaning it up shows pride in your work and you care about their car. Great job and series!

Nice work, it was fun to follow along. I had always thought I'd eventually do my 2000 5.3, I was even looking forward to a big repair. Dang, even now after 365,000 km it's still going strong. Good maintenance, lack of abuse, and a little luck go a long way.

spelunkerd, yep these LS engines are pretty darn bullet proof if they have been taken care of. Glad you enjoyed the series. Id say as far as engine jobs go these always go pretty darn easy.

Thank you for this information. My husband is currently replacing his engine on his 2004 Yukon XL. We love that truck and I want to know what to expect once we get our truck back. The only thing I wish, is you did the job.

Patients of a Saint! I only wish I had the mental capacity to remember where everything goes.
Even simple jobs like brakes I tend to rush through, in order to get on with the rest if my day... And lets not forget the back ache from leaning over for hours.
I've said this to Eric O also, much respect to you guys who do this full time. 👏

Awesome Job man! I'll be installing that same engine on a 53 F100 (with heavy modifications of course) the reassembling tips i.e. oil splash guard and gaskets tips were great. Thank you and well wishes.

Really nice work man. I unfortunately don't have much luck with others working on my vehicles and usually do everything myself because of numerous bad experiences, but I would not hesitate to let you work on mine. Kudos to you. I hope your customers appreciate your attention to detail. It is rare...

A wonderful series. I found it interesting you removed the core support. I have an older Chevy pickup, and have done the same. I am much older than you, and it makes it much easier to install and work around the engine. I am also impressed with your workmanship and attention to detail. Thank you for sharing.

One tip i have found works at times...when you was removing the exhaust studs...heat them up like you did then use an old candle and melt some wax at the base so the melted wax runs down into the threads, really helps to lube the threads some to make it easier to remove...nice series

Yessss! First video of 2018 this morning and I want to wish you a genuinely fantastic New Year Joe! Like all your videos I've seen so far, VERY interesting from start to finish. Your attention to detail is amazing and very gratifying. I'm certain your customers get so much more than they probably expected. Thanks again buddy. I plan and catching up on all your creations as I sit down to watch all of your work. This is a huge amount of effort on your part and very giving of your time. I certainly appreciate all you do!

While that motor job ate a whole week, your coworker is installing tires and brakes making more than you do! I know you have to get that engine in and running to get paid, but we got a Cruz with transmission damage and the owner wants it done asap! You will have to tear down the trans and work up an estimate for warranty but don't worry, we'll pay you a couple of hours. Ps: see if you can install a few sets of tires and change some oil so you have enough to pay your tool bill. Don't worry about that motor job its warranty too now, you can do that next week. Btw management said we have to drop your guarantee since you fell below 40 hours 😂

Holy Moly! The third engine?? I can only guess as to the reason why! Most people will not go thru the process once, let alone twice!! That thing must get driven a lot. And I bet the seat had the owner tushy pattern, firmly engrained in the seat!
Nice job! Even if it ended with a CHANGE ENGINE SOON, light. (A lil bit of humor for ya)

What the... ? -this is the first video in this series I get a notification about. UA-cam is dropping the ball bigtime on those lately, although, usually, I'm just notified late instead of not at all. Oh well, got some watching to do apparently.

What engine lift bracket did you use? I have to pull the 5.3 out of my 07 Tahoe. The one you use looked like it worked great. Thanks for the videos!

Thank you sir for this video, it was very informative. I've watched the whole series about 10 times. I am doing this engine swap same exact year, you really helped me through this. Especially since this is my first engine swap, alone actually. I've done some swaps with supervision. Your videos made me feel confident in what I was doing. My only question is how much time did it take total? I would like to know because I've been told different times. I don't have the qualifications you do but I am testing for ASE certifications in three areas. AC, Brakes , and Steering and Suspensions. Please respond, and keep filming more, you have a loyal subscriber here!!!

Do you torque the wheels to spec or a little higher? Do you re-torque the wheels after the test drive?

    • @pinpointautomotiverepair1592
      @pinpointautomotiverepair1592  7 років тому +1

I torque all wheels to factory spec. I don't generally re-torque wheels unless a specific torque procedure calls for it, which is pretty rare indeed. I have never had an issue.

Jan Verschueren its the same person that buys a new engine in a car that's a worm out GM product. I'm not hating because I have a 2015 Yukon Denali that I know damn well to get rid of around 100k miles. Ever since 7k miles it's been a rattle box that no one can diagnosed the problem to be fixed under warranty.
