I did this lesson today (I'm a student teacher) and it went so great and the kids loved it.

Great activity. Used it with 1-3 grades. We were also doing badminton skills so we had the same format and just had them serving to the hoops instead of tossing. Easy to make simple modifications to change things up like underhand to overhand serve, dominant to non-dominant hand.

Awesome game! My 3rd-5th graders loved it. We played 3 rounds- not a game to play for a very long time. Betting younger grades would love playing longer.

I will use this activity. However, what I'll do is have the participants stand behind the line and all of them will throw their bean bag at the same time at their individual hoop. Then is unison they will go and get their bean bags with those flipping their hula hoops if their bag is in the hula hoop. I don't want bean bags thrown at hula hoops while students are going back and forth getting bags and tossing them. A safety precaution in my opinion. They toss the bags together and then in unison they'll retrieve the bags and flip their hula hoops if necessary. Less chance of someone getting hit in the face with a bean bag [or whatever item to be used].

I would guess that if they miss they do not flip the hoop. Instead they pick the beanbag up, return to the line, and continue trying. My students can flip the hoop ONLY if they successfully toss the beanbag inside.
