Really enjoyed this film. I built this model myself a few years ago, so I can appreciate some of the adjustments needed to make it run that well. I'm a big fan of true steam shovels (sad, innit?) and this was probably the most authentic model, in terms of mechanism and appearance that Meccano published.
Thank you for your reaction. It is indeed a very attractive model with all functions working supprisingly well. I am also interested in building the Meccano 1913 steam navvy. Unfortunately, the instructions and illustrations are a bit meager
If I remember rightly, that's the one whose illustrations are hand drawn'? From memory it's based on a Ruston Dunbar navvy, with the boom alone rotating through a semi-circle. (Rather like an American Marion railroad shovel, if you know the machine.) It dates from the days before Meccano had plates to fill in the gaps!@@meccado4848
Incredible build, exactly what I’ve been dreaming of. I’d love to see this on a crawler chassis. If you ever consider selling or building another, you’ve got a customer.
@@telepresence start with a set 8 or 9, great value for money. You can build lots of models with it. There are several online dealers for spare parts. All Meccano model plans are available on the internet at meccanoindex.co.uk. Happy building!
i was expecting this channel to have at least 100k subs for the quality of the video and the amount of work to make the excavator. good job and i hope you can gain more subs :)
Thank you! Great to see a new video of this GREAT model! I like the 1929 steam engine of meccano a lot, but I think you did well with the Kleinemeyer engine, I like them too. I MUST get my meccano out to play! xD THIS is the model I like to build the most! Cordial greetings! Géréon (a north german, born in Hannover, close to Hamburg, living at the lake geneva)
Thank you! It is indeed a great model to build and it is fun to operate the engine. When well adjusted, everything works smoothly. Don't think I will disassemble it for parts, same for the motor chassis.
Nice video! Don't know if any 3D printing or CNC services are needed for your upcoming content, if so, would love to sponsor and achieve any cooperation together! (PCBWay Daisy)
This what UA-cam should be about, amazing craftsmanship and skill, not clickbait minecraft videos
If folks quit clicking on em, dislike them, etc, it'll help them get dragged down to the depths of hell where clickbait belongs
It's fun to make videos like this.
Doesn't get much better than this 👍🏻
i wish they still made toys like these...
Those where the days...

Thank you for your kind remark. Just collect the parts, the steam engine and start building! It is great fun to build and play with.
I’m a complete newbie. Can you recommend any specific vintage sets that would contain most of the pieces needed to replicate this?
