Proton Inspira 1.8 (4B10 Mivec) Dyno Tuning

- Earlier this year I took my car for dyno tuning at JC Racing Sunway. I did some basic bolt on mod and I am curious what's the power gained with all these mod. The stock Inspira 1.8 claimed to have 138bhp at the crank, which is about 114 horsepower at the wheel. After some base dyno run before the ECU tuning, the car managed to produce 131whp (157bhp). I was surprised by the result really, that's some huge power gained for a NA engine!
After the base run, some ECU tuning were done and multiple dyno were performed. The best result were 143 wheel horsepower (170bhp), that's 32bhp gain over the stock car!!
Below are all the mod I had on my car (2nd July 2017):

Catalytic Converter removed
Custom 4-2-1 exhaust manifold
SuperCircuit axle-back exhaust

Hi Hong, thanks for your video. I am interested to buy Inspira, My ultimate purpose is to get one NA engine with higher power and manual gear. and I know that there are 4B10, 4B11 and 4B12, engines. my question is , should I buy 1.8 MT or 2.0 CVT? which one is better buy now since I want to convert to 2.0 manual or 2.4 manual next time?
Converting a 1.8 manual to 2.0 manual is easier than 2.0 cvt to manual. So I will strongly suggest to buy 1.8 manual.
Bought 1.8mt last year and im very satisfied since even with stock condition you will get much fun getting top speed and conering with good handling. Just added strut bar ultra racing for spices in conering. Other than that, its a very good family car and can do variant cosmetic available in market. Now im using front bumper lancer gt and lancer ralliart rear bumper and spray the bumper with stock gold colour
1.8 lancers have 143 hp and 178 torque from the factory

Very impressive bro ur car. Like sifu. I have Inspira 1.8 Manual too & want to dyno tune. What's ur 3rd gear's top speed at 7000rpm? Ur cut-off at which rpm now?

hey bro, plan to do tune my 2.0 inspira at JC racing, so far any negative effect like knocking or high fuel consumption after tuning? Any better tuner to recommend beside JC? Thanks!
Tuning for more power always consume more fuel. There are no magic out there that give you more power but using less fuel. I had 0 issue on my car since brand new.
How about fuel consumption after that changes? Can You see difference?
Fuel consumption were significantly worst than stock. Stock manage to get 17km/L on highway driving and 14-15k/L on city driving, now im only getting 9-11km/L on average (hard driving). Highway cruising about 13-15km/L.
There is no such thing as more power and more fuel efficiency. More power definitely uses more fuel.

would you recommend K&N Intake systems over Simota?
To be honest not much differences between different brands. But one thing for sure open pod suffer from low end torque, but gain power on high rpm.

Where you did the straight pipe ? And how much is the cost ? Did you remove the resonator as well ?
+IanKim1804 my car is not straight piped. It has a custom made 4-2-1 exhaust manifold paired with Supercircuit axle back exhaust. Catalytic converter has been removed, but resonator remain untouched.
ljanhong how much to do catalytic converter delete ? And where you did it ?
+IanKim1804 just let the mechanic know that you want to remove the catalytic converter during the installation of exhaust manifold. They will replaced with a flexi pipe usually. The stock exhaust manifold is very small and short, and the cat is located just after the manifold. Most aftermarket manifold are long enuf that you have to remove the cat to fit.

ljanhong Based on your experience with inspira owner, do you recommend me do custom extractor or at that shop or extractor from supercircuit ? Which one provide more power ?

u only did modi on piping system and simota open pot? others modi?
Hafiz Mahayuddin piping all stock. Only replaced 4-2-1 exhaust header and axle back exhaust, and also simota open pod. That's all for the mod.

Mine increased 33bhp from stock. :)

Around 400-600 depending on whether you have any mod on your car or not. Stock car is cheaper.

wheel horse power is the actual power putting down on your wheel. Brake horsepower (bhp) refers to the power generated and measured at the crankshaft, before counting on the transmission power lost and some other factors. The bhp you see on cars review, car brochure are all bhp figure, because they wan to exclude the power-train lost and to make it looks more powerful.

Have you tried installing 4g69 thorttle body? Or is there no need for bigger throttle body?
I’m using stock 4B throttle body. But 4G69 tb should be able to extract a little bit more power with a proper tune
@@ljanhong also, do you know which part you installed benefited your gains the most? Is it the custom 421 or supercircuit exhaust setup? Is the 421 you using similar to the supercircuit's design 421 header? Thanks in advance.
@@oon783 the most obvious power gain I had is the supercircuit exhaust + remap. Extractor alone doesn’t really have much different without the combination of the axle back and a tune. Regarding the extractor, I’m not too sure about the design though as I never compare them side by side.

@@囡囡呵呵 我驾了5年，完全没有问题过。但也要看车主怎样保养。inspira本身是非常耐的车（毕竟是Mitsubishi）,基本保养要做好。如果不会保养车就最好不要买车
How you fix O2 Sensor check engine light after delete cat?
I don’t have any check engine light issue after removing cat.
@@ljanhong After removing the cat, is it soooo much louder? Cause from your exhaust sound video, it sounds decent, not annoyingly loud or anything. Just how much louder does it get after de-cat
Imran Syafi it depends on your exhaust muffler. Different design will have different loudness. Mine is very quiet on cruising speed without any drone.

Ever had issues with running your car with all those mods on stock tune? Because I believe the tune with JC Racing was the last thing you did right, that means the car was running on stock tune, with all those mods. How long did you run the car with all those mods without getting a tune?

Extractor was done in Puchong Kweng Exhaust. Supercircuit axel back cost me RM1.3K, expensive but definitely worth it.

Rim is Genuine Enkei Rivazza Race 17×7jj offset 38. As of this video, tyre is Goodyear Excellence 215/50R17. Currently using Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 215/50R17
