I love how mail merge has evolved since I first used it 20 years ago. It's so much easier now. Another column header I *often* used for my boss was something personal within the letter for a specific individual (i.e., I enjoyed our golf game -- bla bla bla). Now retired I still use MM for my Christmas letters. LOL Love the way you explain, especially Excel... always learning something new.
This was an excellent video that clearly and quickly explained this (in my opinion unnecessarily) complicated Excel process. I would greatly appreciate the conditional formatting/if tutorials. Thanks so much! (Is anyone else shocked that checkboxes aren't available in Excel when they are just standard automatic insert/true-false features in Google Sheets and Mac Numbers??)
I use Excel on a daily basis and I admit I am a beginner there are quite a few courses on here with people showing Excel but this is the clearest and not once did I have to pause and go back. Thank You for this channel
You will live long my great teacher. You are the best excel teacher online hands down. Please always remember to add the link file you are using for any particular example you are using so we can download and follow along. Thank you 🙏

Really like all your excel videos, very nice so helpful.
Thanks, really helpful. After wasting 20 minutes checking out confused and confusing UA-cam videos with endless chat, yours let me do it in in about 1 minute. I was doing it as I was watching.
Thank you please keep making these excel
Thank you! This helped so much.
Your videos has been soooo helpful... Thank u dear
If you just need a simple yes/no checkmark you could change the font to marlette for that column and simply type the lower case 'a' which gives a checkmark. You can then use that letter for any needed additional structs or conditional formatting or ???. No messy additional changes to a fussy form tool.
Pls.. Make a video for conditional formatting using the check box
Clear and concise lesson. Thank you very much.
Simply brilliant and excellent teaching, Great
Nice vid and thanks for posting! Its been a while since you posted this, but in case you haven't figured this out yet - at 7:15 when you're editing each cell that shows $G$2, you can edit this to $G2 and drag it down over the below cells. $G$2 will always lock to that exact cell, whereas $G2 will lock to the column, and G$2 will lock to the row. You can easily amend this by pressing F4, and it will cycle between each lock type. :)
This works for you? I can set cell link to G2, $G2 etc and when I autofill they are still all the same - all check the same and are linked to that single cell. Came to this video hoping there was another trick he was going to show and am disappointed that you really have to manually set all the cell links or use a macro? Seems stupid, google sheets works with check boxes without all the bs.
Other oddness: if I autofill, then change the top checkbox and autofill again - the lower cells autofilled will have checkboxes over checkboxes - it doesn't replace the old ones it just adds a new one over the old ones. So I guess you should delete the old ones first then right - selecting the cells and hitting delete doesn't remove them. Right clicking to select them, and hitting delete still doesn't remove them for me?! The only way to remove a checkbox I found is to right click to select it, and then hit cut?? Why does excel handle check boxes so poorly.
This doesn't work
Thank you so much for your kind help!
I like the way you explain, it is very clear and right to the point
I have zero experience in Macro, but you made it so easy for me to understand and use it now, thanks you so much!
Hi , Teacher, I definitely want to have a following up video pertaining to how to make highlights, if functions and conditional formats

For 3d check box, just delete $ for reference cell number ( $G3). Then flash fill would work hope fully.
I tried that and it did not work.
I had a hard time getting it in the cell I wanted, it drove me nuts. Thanks for you valued help.
thanks a lot for this! Subscribed

Nicely explained.
Hello, Great video thanks for making it.
I do have a question, when inputing data into fields and I come to the check box, is there a way to make it so spacebar toggles the check box for that field?
So space checked, space again unchecked, without have to always click the box.
Thank you, it is very informative lesson, you are outstanding instructor. Elena
The conditional formatting video would be appreciated. Thanks

PLEASE make a video how to check quizzes, test or exam with MS excell
Thank you very much
nice and very informative video,,, thnks for uploading this...
Remove the $ sign before the number
Example $F2 and so on. Then copy so that I won't do it manually.
can you confirm that it works? it is not working for me. I know thats how excel normally handles these type of references but its not working for form controls or active x ones
doesn't work for me :(
@@nekeem.3540 Remove $ and select F2 & G2 then drag them together, or do F2,G2 & F3,G3 then select them all & drag, if it doesn't work just sell your laptop.. LOL
tried it and it didn't work
Just run this macro and it will work :
Sub LinkCheckBoxes()
Dim chk As CheckBox
Dim lCol As Long
lCol = 2 'number of columns to the right for link
For Each chk In ActiveSheet.CheckBoxes
With chk
.LinkedCell = _
.TopLeftCell.Offset(0, lCol).Address
End With
Next chk
End Sub
You have made me to know some thing which i have never known thanks for the video
Yeah beautiful 👌🏻
Is it possible to make a check box that has button characteristics when checked?
Thanks brother your save me some time and frustration - Your the Man :)
Hi! I'm using Excel for Mac, and I can't just drag the cell to make more checkboxes. Is there a way to do it on mac?
Thanks
I think it would be better if all your videos were orderly published, it will help for easy access so as to know where to start from and where to continue from.
thanks for this
Very good and thanks
Yes please re if and conditional formatting please!
Conditional formatting and "if" functions demo pls.
This was very helpful. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the controls to move and size with the cell they're in. In my Format options for the check box, it is disabled.
Can you use check Box, to order Excel to copy certain cells of that perticular raw?
Very informative. 😘
Can you have Excel automatically insert a checkmark on a sheet when specific text data is entered into a budget spreadsheet? ex: one spreadsheet has vendor accounts listed with boxes to check when that monthly payment is made & entered into a different spreadsheet. Hope this isn't confusing.
Conditional formatting and if formulae would be great.
He has both of them
Fantastic video. I just curious if you delete $ in that formula it will work well to make a massive of checkboxes?
waiting for Conditional formatting and “if” functions VIDEO please
thankx for your video i try do insert check list in excel and must work in android dives phone or tablet
Very nice. Yes please do make follow up video
Here's the follow up video: ua-cam.com/video/LVu3E64w1-k/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
If u removed the $ from the cel reference that should allow u to update subsequent cell?
You're not pregnant but you always deliver😫🙌
If you hide the column with the "True/False," will the conditional formatting still work if conditional formatting is applied?
Wow that's a shame Excel doesn't have better functionality for this, was hoping to use it for a large spreadsheet of 800+ records. That said super informative video, I now know how to use this for smaller tasks if needed.
If you remove the $ signs from the first entry in the G column could you not then drag the true false formula?
Hmmm. Doesn’t seem to work!
how to download the excel sheet so that I can practice accordingly ?
Hello. Im an HR Personnel. Thank you for this. It helped alot doing my database for teachers' dtr submission. Question though, how could i delete all checkboxes in shortcut? thanks again.
I want to see how you highlight the cells using the IF function
Hello. Is it possible to add the date and time when the check box was ticked in the next column?
This is very useful:-)
Thank you for this video,. I would like to use check boxes to use on a check list. And how can I lock certain cells and only unlock only if checkbox is ticked. so its a step by step process . I tick first check box than only next cell gets unlocked and so on. Is that possible?
Good teacher
