This is truly the best performance I've actually seen in a while, my only slight sadness is not getting a bass and drum solo. Otherwise, I'm utterly blown away.
Fantastic. I have never heard a harmonica played like that :O. And I loved the tiny, beautiful child in the back, just taking it all in :). Wonder what he'll grow up to be...
As someone who grew up on Mississippi Delta Blues smack dab in the middle of the Delta- best TD concert! Dave Chappelle is hilarious- love his dance breakdown in the second song! Lol!!
The lil' mascot.. Just sitting back, chillin, holding it down. Knew he had to be the bass players kid.. But look out! He's checking out the drums, so it is a toss up. Yonnet is a master of the harp, but also a masterful band leader. Reminds me of the big band leaders of of 40's. Let's his band members shine. Only so much time, I know, but wish the bass and drums bad a solo moment. What more can be said of Dave Chappelle?... the comedic genius of our time!
So many harmonica players just beat us up with it, playing with no subtlety or regard for the how loud and shrill it can be drowning out their fellow players. When it sounds like they are swinging a goose you know it has gone wrong. He is truly amazing using it to the full range from a whisper to a scream and using it as a percussion instrument while teasing out lyric melody. He also seems to have a way of putting more air into the end sound at times, the way Ben Webster did with his sax. No wonder he gets to play with so many greats!! Plus Chapelle to boot! This was a hootenanny to remember! You see, he drops the mike down to the desk for the last one so his band can be chill and there will be balance. Every harp player needs to see this!!!!
Frederic was amazing, the band was amazing, and the sound engineer(Josh Rogosin) did an amazing job bringing it all together. Tiny Desks like this are the gems I keep hoping to find!
Je ne suis pas spécialement chauvin mais ça fait plaisir de voir un français à NPR. Thank you to Tiny Desk Concert, dont les artistes sont, comme Frédéric, invariablement enthousiastes et bons.
What an incredible performance. I just saw him at Summerfest in Milwaukee and I can tell you him and his band are just as tight live as they were here!
How he enjoys music, watching his last specials, how he talks in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee... Chapelle really seems to be enjoying this part of his life.
This Group and Frederic can absolutely transport you to Groove town. This train is one I will get on again ..........tell people about this Music......tell them.
Of all the performances at the tiny desk this has to be one of the absolute greatest!! That's really quite an achievement given the talent that has graced this venue
I am so shocked this only has 800,000 views, Dave Chapelle with a musician that perform with prince and tour with Stevie wonder , this needs more views!
This dude and his harmonica just added value to my life. Like really, who knew you could do all that with damn harmonica? Seriously who? Point them out! ......nobody???? This was friggin awesome....How awesome was it? So awesome that I clapped at the end of the show like I was there.
Somewhat of a virtuoso on an extremely hard instrument. I wonder if he is playing a chromatic harp? The entire band is wonderful and enhances his playing so well. NEVER thought I'd hear a harp with hints of Reggae and Indian. Amazing.
No it's diatonic man that's why he's good, he bends and draws to play chromatic scales on a diatonic harp which is just mad. Especially on harmonicas that aren"t modified.
Just to provide an expanded explanation, when I say niche I mean no disrespect, just that it takes a special talent to master some instruments that a very small part of the population could achieve
When Dave came back in about the 10 min mark, that was one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen! I can only imagine the feeling of actually being present in the office at that time. That ending was incredible!
This made me literally cry ... I haven’t heard a band this good in a long time! They are truly amazing ! And that harmonica... WOW! I’m speechless... awesome!
I. Loved. This. So. Much! Gonna show my daughter. I'm finally able to carve out money to give her the dream of the electric guitar lessons she has asked for since she was Five. We don't know why or where it came from..but she never wavered. It's a big money stretch..but she is happy.💗
"Fred is from Normandy in France, and on behalf of everyone in the United States... You're welcome!" Dave Chapelle is a national treasure. Such a smart dude. I wonder if he wrote the one beforehand or just came up with it on the spot.
Damn.... he made that harmonica sound like an accordion and a violin, a flute and a clarinet at the same time...... amazing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This band is RIDICULOUS. Yonnet kills per usual. Tiny Desk is the place to watch, tell anyone who doesn't know yet!!!
Dave Chapelle has to have the most diverse phone contact list in the world lol
Martha Steward actually has that top spot but Dave is close.
lol
Emmanuel Brioché I wonder do they have each other's numbers
Smooooth These are the questions we need to be asking
OMG YESSSSSSSS!
Totally getting the last Grammy's vibe. "Hi, I'm Dave Chappelle." Can he just show up on a white house Press meeting?
Can Tiny Desk kill it any harder? Find out next week on "Beethoven with special guest the ghost of Kurt Cobain: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert."
Killed with the hottest axe ever played.
Jordon Brewer lmao

The next Jimi Hendrix 😏
He's getting an ear full of that high hat
the little boy is too adorable!
Dave asked for 'sweltering heat, I don't get paid enough blues' and them boys more than delivered. Truly impeccable.
NIGGA I FELT THE HEAT.
Man, that six string bass is a gorgeous piece of weaponry!!
Carl Bowden warfare against sphincters
Handled by a master.
Indeed, its a wonderful Ibanez workshop. Have on of those, beast of a bass
I take it you've had the pleasure of experiencing Animals as Leaders? They do sick things with 8 strings...
$1100 not a bad price! www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BTB846SCDTL--ibanez-btb846s-deep-twilight-low-gloss
This is truly the best performance I've actually seen in a while, my only slight sadness is not getting a bass and drum solo. Otherwise, I'm utterly blown away.

Talking about 'Street Cred'..good fkin GRIEF !!
They had me at Dave Chapelle my guy lol. Fred killed it and the band a whole vibing phenom.

Fantastic. I have never heard a harmonica played like that :O. And I loved the tiny, beautiful child in the back, just taking it all in :). Wonder what he'll grow up to be...
Sonny Terry smiles in heaven at this !!
As someone who grew up on Mississippi Delta Blues smack dab in the middle of the Delta- best TD concert! Dave Chappelle is hilarious- love his dance breakdown in the second song! Lol!!
That band is tight as hell. The drummer, especially, is badass. Great stuff.
Let's his band members shine. had me in tears 😭 thank you so much
Love how NPR has a great abundance of bringing people together.
Frederic is incredible!

As always the tiny desk offers the best audio/visual with the best of the best players. Thank you, sound and video engineers.
Every single time Tiny Desk. It's like opening up the best gift I never even knew I needed or wanted.
This is by far one of the best ones I've seen on here! Dude and his band with no name are AMAZING!
Thx man. Glad u like it!
So many harmonica players just beat us up with it, playing with no subtlety or regard for the how loud and shrill it can be drowning out their fellow players. I have never heard a harmonica sound like this before!!!! It almost sounded like a string instrument at times😍😍😍😍
I haven't smiled at a musical performance like this in years. WOW

Je ne suis pas spécialement chauvin mais ça fait plaisir de voir un français à NPR. Thank you to Tiny Desk Concert, dont les artistes sont, comme Frédéric, invariablement enthousiastes et bons.
My rookie brother Dennis on bass!! ♥️♥️♥️ 🎸 NSU behold the green and gold!
What an incredible performance. I just saw him at Summerfest in Milwaukee and I can tell you him and his band are just as tight live as they were here!
I love this so much. I would pay serious money to watch the "Band With No Name" do a two hour set.
Excellent musicianship!!! Wow! To play a random song like that and have a leader to direct what he wants is amazing! Wow! 👍👍👍
I love the fact that musicians can just get together and improv on a groove, and just crank out something beautiful out of thin air.
Samuel Soyebo
Artistic freedom

This dude and his harmonica just added value to my life. Like really, who knew you could do all that with damn harmonica? Seriously who? Point them out! ......nobody???? This was friggin awesome....How awesome was it? So awesome that I clapped at the end of the show like I was there.
Never seen a harmonica player lead a band, let alone so well
Omg have just had my mind blown. Talent is not even a good enough word to describe Frederic!!!! Wow!!!
This is so damn charming. I don't know what to do with myself but dance it out.
Mission accomplished
This music, fantastic band, phenomenal harp! Happy ears, happy feet, full heart, joyful soul. Thank you!
Dave Chappelle!!!! 🤩
This is outstanding! This is a soul, jazz, blues harmonica jam sensation. Very cool.
I have no words! Just wonderful! Whoa! Remarkable! Just Wow!~
People who master a very nice and beautiful niche like harmonica's are beyond just special.
Wow! I tuned in when I seen Dave's name but Yonnet!!

Dads don’t get enough credit. Look at that man play his bass while taking care of his baby girl, beautiful!
Mr. White hey thanks for the comment but that’s my son! His name is Kellen and he’s becoming quite the musician (drums) himself ! Salute!
Mr. D. Turner - I am so sorry to mistaken your son for a daughter. He’s a beautiful child regardless. Keep up the good work !
Mr. White thanks kind sir. Appreciate the kind words
A part of me feels guilty because I shouldn't be able to get this for free.
Become a contributer. Npr is ran off of donations.

You and your guilt.... LEAVE THIS AMAZING PLACE OF FREE ONCE IN A LIFE TIME MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 🤣🤣🤷

So much soul from a harmonica
I. Loved. This. So. Much!
Gonna show my daughter. I'm finally able to carve out money to give her the dream of the electric guitar lessons she has asked for since she was Five. We don't know why or where it came from..but she never wavered. It's a big money stretch..but she is happy.💗
