Gwen's comments... like what the hell... everyone witnessing his performance is thinking the same thing but as a judge why would you say that? Pharrell trying to make sure she doesn't sound like an idiot while at the same time providing comfort. What a cool dude.
Some people just say what's on their mind and don't have that much of a filter, it comes off to a lot of people as inconsiderate but its a human quality like any other.
But she wasn't wrong. I knew him before I saw the video, but if I hadn't, I would be shocked too. He does look like a nerd like let's call a spade a spade but no one can deny his voice is one of the best in the show's history.

She didn't mean to say that he was some guy looking like a nerd, or that she was expecting someone skinny,(I've seen people who say that she thought he wasn't going to be fat), as Jordan himself mentioned he gets mistaken for a woman in drive-thrus. I'm pretty sure that's what Gwen was thinking as well. In her head she imagined seeing a woman with a really powerful voice when she turned around. You can see from the edits and the cuts, that the producers wanted to keep the TV viewers from seeing who it was till the judges turned around, making it a reveal for them as well.

why does everyone think Gwen is shocked by his weight? It seems to me she is surprised Jordan is not a girl. she says your voice doesn't match how you look. Actually i remembered the first day i watched this, it was in a compilation and he actually made higher notes that most females did, thats why she was so surprised, and i was too jaja, i could have swear for my life that the vocalist was a woman...
