I remember this was the flex in elementary, especially in field trips and you got subway.
I had to be in 3rd grade when a classmate of mine walked to a Dickeys BBQ during recess, which was pretty close by, and ordered a meal and drink. He got in trouble bc his mom worked at the school and was like “where did you get that Dickeys cup?” And then of course everyone in my class told on him lol

Being an immigrant, my parents weren’t used to packing my lunch “American style”, so my mom would never know what to pack when I couldn’t buy lunch from the cafeteria (like field trips). I still remember before one field trip, my mom went to Denny’s at 6am to get a turkey club with fries for my lunch. She even ordered me some chicken tenders just in case. The fresh food smell permeated throughout the school bus that morning, and during lunch, all the kids were staring and whispering watching me eat. I felt so out of place and so embarrassed. I went home and got so mad at my mom and said from now on I want a plain peanut butter and jelly sandwich like the rest of the kids. I had no idea how lucky I was. Thanks mom.

Make sure you give a mild apology and thank her for that time. It’s fair to have that reaction since everyone wanted to fit in and be “normal” as a kid. It can sometimes make us be unappreciative of the great, exceptional things our loved ones do for us.
I used to be Miley annoyed when my mom would visit me during lunch sometimes , even when she brought me McDonalds. I thought I stood out in a bad way, when in fact everyone thought it was cool.
Moral of the story is that it’s ok to have been embarrassed. Just make sure your mother knows that she is appreciated, and show the same level of care and thoughtfulness if you have kids.
To be fair hot food in a bus is a dick move it stinks the whole place up.

I grew up in Ukraine and the first McDonalds was opened in 1997, in Kyiv. I lived in another city and was approximately 8 years old, we knew about McDonalds through TV commercials. A kid in my class brought a happy meal (must have been at least 24 hours old, because the restaurant was in Kyiv and we lived ~400km away), and pretty much everyone in the class was watching him eat during the break and were asking all sorts of questions. He was definitely the coolest kid in the class during that time.

My community college was around the corner from Chic-Fil-A. I remember for the first time I was able to say "you know, what, I think I want Chic-Fil-A" and it wasn't Sunday so I was able to get it. Then I found out apparently they do 50% off for first responders. Became the second cheapest place to eat at while on campus (Costco can't be beat man). $7 for a meal. What good times. The only better food based event in community college was when McDonalds launched their app, and fucked up so there was a way you could order free burgers. You'd go through the value menu in some specific order (Honestly, it's been so long I can't remember). The closest McDonalds that fulfilled online orders was like 3 towns away, but it was worth it. For a week, until they finally patched it, we'd drive out there and pick up 20 burgers. We'd take ours, and then just drop the rest for whoever wanted it in the group. Never told anyone why we were doing it, or how much it cost. I could hardly believe we actually found a bug that let us get free food. When my friend told me, I was like "nah." So he showed me the process and sure enough, it said $0 on the bill. We showed up, they walked the food out to us, and on their end it said we already paid, so we just left. Crazy....

@@vlomman weird thing, at the elementary school i went to the rich kid was actually a good guy didnt brag closest thing to bragging dat he did was the simple fact dat he had an apple watch didnt even bring attention to it or anything jus tthe fact dat he wore one was the braggiest thing he ever did now granted idk if he went on to brag latter on in life all ik is dat in elementary he didnt brag at all
@@creepyer9875 in my elementary school the "rich kids" as i would later found out were mostly kids who werent rich at all its just their parents invested all their money on their children's food/clothes, one guy we all thought was rich cause he bragged about his clothes all the time, and made fun of others was actually not even close to rich and his mom worked like 12 hour shifts every day to pay off his spoiled brat a** as soon as we hit highschool his ego suddenly dropped, since actual rich kids started driving to school with their cars and his family never owned one, now hes an emo hating on everyone 🤣🤣
