Holy cow... I think I just found my favorite car reviewer... It's like being there.. observing the car.. Getting a feel for what the car really is like.. Awesome.
100% for the V6, with manual gearbox. The old school driving/racing experience is what i want. To many auto gearbox cars these days! The supercharger in the V6 is instant powered while the I4 is still trying to wind up!! Also the I4 has that constant noise of the cooling fan around the back of the drivers seat as they had issues keeping the engine cool. hence the fact its a reduced HP in the AMG engine, I'm pretty sure that re-mapping the i4 engine for increased HP will give overheat issues!! Hence why i switched my order from the I4 to the V6.
You may want to rewatch the acceleration comparison. Amg 4 is one of the best engines ever made regardless of detune. Also, manual has heavy clutch and a bit of effort to find gear. A V6 camry engine with super charger just looks lazy to me. China getting i4 deliveries with 400hp from my reading. Regardless, i believe we both will be happy with our choices

I've been waiting for this comparo!! While the V6 sounds better, the midrange in the I4 is crazy. That I4 will be a proper weapon once we tune it up a smidge. Which one did you prefer??
@@SammyVeryRich Well i'd take the Merc engine and take the car to Evolve Technik for tuning to exploit the enormous potential of that engine. We already know it's been de-tuned for Lotus. And even compariung apples to apples, the engine can handle a lot more power.

@@rd5140 Just the s version of the engine detuned a little. China has tough emissions laws. Maybe the v6 will be phased out here because it gets an emission penalty. The i4 has lower emissions that is all I know. It is very fast and makes the V6 seem mild.
@@faraz2498That is incorrect. My car has not arrived and it will have 400 hp. Also, China is complicated (an EV country) for ICE cars. Only $30,000 more than a Plaid S. Is slower at Nurburgring by 41 seconds! Can't seat 7 people and very little room for cargo. Can't drive itself. I'm sure there are those that will be happy to buy it so they can fill their little void in their head.
My lotus dealer just told me that the i4 engines will now be upped to 400hp, possibly due to Toyota discontinuing the v6 Camry engine. This is straight from my lotus dealership. Can someone confirm that for me with their respective lotuses?
2 liter turbo with that great box will leave the V6 & cable actuated truck gearbox for dead on track. Why this obsession with manual boxes when they are horrible on track and always slower bewilders me? I think it's memory laners that don't track their car and have never money shifted into a wall like some of us have, not a good risk reward ratio for lots of on the limit laps. Thank you AMG for letting Lotus use a proper engine/box combo for once.
because the connection car driver is much more important than track times for may petrolheads, most people wont step on a track ever, but they will do some mountain twisties often, its all about driving experience not racing

The Emira is an outstanding driver’s automobile. I’m buying one!
I wish they had a Spider version of the Emira
