how do you created the shadows and highlights because it’s not quite clear. you duplicated the tree and then it looked like you erased or something. I’m still learning all the function in illustrator. what’s a good way? the illustrator cc book or...?
starting at the 0:54 point, when I use the pen tool to create the top of the tree my path retains the zig-zag effect from the bottom path. I get a zig-zag triangle, how do I keep the new paths from transforming?
Figured it out moments later through a Google search. Object > Expand Appearance from my understanding it kind of ends the "shape/path" so it's attributes are not continued
Thanks for the video! At 3:50 what is the significance of holding ALT and pressing expand. Are you able to just use Minus Front? What would be the difference moving forward? Thanks again!
i hate those people who make tutorials like this and don't show the Exact process and keys so that someone can follow along 😡Just like you did i hate you atleast show us the full process keys and stuff so that we can follow along
YES! THIS KIND OF ILLUSTARATIONS ARE WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!

i make two copies than with the top copy i cut the bottom copy , and there is the shadow or highlight.

If you just use minus front it wont work on multiple object, but uniting them with holding alt than you wont have any problems.
Niko Dola wow, I think I finally understand the difference! Thanks!
Wow 😍
