Besides a wheel alignment, the only thing it's missing is air conditioning... Otherwise, this bird flies!
I totaled a 64 back in 1971 at an intersection. The 1965 Impala ran the red light and hit me on the right front. A 50 mile an hour collision. The long hood on that T-Bird saved me and my girlfriend. We both hit the windshield and my knees left indentions on the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel. I'm just glad we were in that tank! We all survived. The guy in the Impala lost his spleen. Both cars totaled.
My oldest brother has a 64. and he took a year to fully restore it, and now he drives it everyday, except when he has to work. BAD ASS car!

The 64 to 66 birds were some of the most dependable cars ever made. There are still thousands of them in original condition that run and drive excellently. Very well built. The 68 birds are ugly but are probably the best ones...1st year for the new 429 and they were built on the lincoln line. 68s are rare though. This car is great.

I know it's not the right year but with the white on red my mind went strait to American Graffiti. I have 3 more years of window shopping. Otherwise I'd head to the walk around next.
It's suppose to slide over when it's in park
Push up on the transmission lever when in park, as you manually slide the steering wheel over! To re-engage it, just slide it back to the drive position. Door open or closed - makes no difference.

The horn works no need for a test drive. Beautiful car.
One horn is working, the other is either missing or broken. ALL old luxury cars had at least two horns. Some, like the Cadillac, had four!
(It's a good practice to fix simple little things like that before the car is put on the front line.)

That's a "Tilt Away" steering wheel. And the drivers seat on some will have the "Swing Away" drivers seat. You may wanna see if the seat may have this. You open the door, seat swings to the left, steering wheel to the right.
Ford never put a swivel seat in any Thunderbird

Common mistake... you drove it in the wrong gear. On Cruise-o-matics (1958-1966), Drive 1 is for snow, and always starts in second gear, with less wheel-spinning torque, then shifts to third. Drive 1 is for normal 3-speed driving and has much better acceleration from a stop. I could hear the 390 engine pushing hard at low RPMs from your starts until you got up to speed. Wanna test my theory? Put the gear selector in N (neutral), then push it straight down, without pulling it toward you. It will stop its travel at the correct position... Always Drive 2. You did it the first time you tried to put it in gear... It took you to Drive 2, but you saw it and moved it up to Drive 1. Mustangs form that time are the same way. Of course, this is assuming that the transmission is the original, or an original rebuilt Cruise-o-matic.
Hmm...If I am not mistaken, you are starting in the D2 position, the first drive spot after neutral and that will give you a second gear start. Drop it down one detent to the one with the green circle, D1, and you will start in first gear. The Cruise-O-Matic was designed that way from '58 to about '67 or '68 when they went to the standard detent and became the Select-Shift. Very Nice Thunderbird. Love the '64 - '66, well most all of them but those years in particular.

A car of that caliber should be well equipped. This one has no air conditioning or power windows. Sounds like it has a loose front end. Nice body and appears to have a nice interior.

I had a 66 when I was in college back in 1970-1972. I was hopping you had a good place to punch and show what it would do. I remember when I test drove mine and punched it. The back squatted down a little, the front rose some and it just flew. That is a very fair price for that vehicle.

Even if it needs a little bit of work the price of this T- Bird is incredibly fair!.. I saw one up by me same year etc that wasn't even in good shape rust and so on nor running for $5k more!. Maple Motors is definitely the place to go for a classic car in my opinion. It's your honesty I respect a lot, you aren't just trying to push them cars out the door and you always give people all the information they need to make an informed decision to buy it or not.. Diff looked wet. Everything else seemed minor ( if alignment fixes left pull and not bushings or other stuff related to alignment).
If the upper control arm bushings are bad, it sometimes shows up in a brake pull. I'd check tire pressure, swap front tires from side to side first. Those are one of the toughest cars to align. They have shims on the upper arm that are hard to remove or add.

I have a 64 Landau that is white on white... Well ,"platinum"" or ""blue diamond"" it's really white.. I've searched Google to the ends of the Earth, and I can not find another representation of a white on white land out from 1964 or 65.
