Great video, more people should be like you and ask questions and challenge the authority. I have 40 years experience in the test and measurement field working for the number one T&M company, have managed the business across two countries and also can repair equipment to component level and then calibrate the units. What has gone on here in this situation is crap, this is not the way to develop and implement a new device/system.
Probably, but that screws the guys that ran well that night. My thought, even though it’s not a perfect solution, is to allow every team to throw out their worst point night of the season. I know, they still get screwed a little but it’s a compromise for the guys that were fast.
This is just another SCCA cluster & the reason i got out of the sport. They should be charged full cost to rebuild all the engines that where effected the other weekend in Perth. As they would have been retarded causing over fueling & washing the bores of the engine. This results in low horse power from the fuel not being burnt correctly & in turn the engine bores glaze up & have exceessive blow by... So they have caused accelerated engine wear from this device.
Yeah I think they realise that. I also think that people just want accountability from the stuff up. Everyone is happy that they're working on a device. Just not how they went about it all. Toby
@@SprintCarHub The lack of transparency is a big factor...perhaps in "improving" and "testing" the device, it went from monitoring to active limiting.....you know its a an added feature that was turned on in a few samples without telling anybody? My engineering brain is keen to how its hooked into the ignition system and what its trying to detect...
I’m curious to know why do WA sprintcars have 3 groups to answer to, pay fees to (if that’s applicable) SAWA, SEG, SCCA That’s a lot of people to answer to
Ummm sprintcars only have one type of ignition systems a magneto so why would they bother testing it on every other type?? The way i see it they are better off having a controlled ignition box and training tech inspectors on the different types of traction control devices and where they are commonly mounted and inspect every car prior to the meeting commencing.
I think theyre chasing a red herring as tbe saying goes, its easy to control the engines and cost of engines by limiting the horsepower? I know everybody has spent big money on the engines but you can change that in the rule book and give time to phase these engines out. Just a thought.
why would you want it on your car anyway its design to give you traction but wont work on dirt / clay . its basically like putting traction control on a burnout car
Yeah this isn’t ok. These competitors adversely affected by some untested device have every right to be upset. These SCCA needs to have thoroughly tested this device prior to it being plugged into any other competitors cars. After thoroughly testing the device should be used only in practice until everyone is happy that it doesn’t affect performance.
So, they tested a device and said it worked fine, except the conditions weren't the same, so the device needs to be tweaked, so it needs to be changed so it can be tested again. But the tests showed it worked fine, except it didn't, and the results that were collected will be forgotten and they'll move forward with a changed and updated device. I know one thing for sure. I am about as confused as one can get. If you understand any of this or believe that any of the unreleased results were accurate, my hats off to ya. To me, it sounds like an election where we are promised a whole bunch of stuff but end up with something that doesn't work as advertised yet still costs a fortune. Now, back to square one. Let's go racing!!!!
Why do Australian sprint car drivers all seem happier, more jovial, and less stressed than USA drivers? When they race in the USA, they lose this character trait and get more serious game faces. Also, it seems more drivers get injured in the USA.
.5 of a degree.. must be critical. When the timing marks on the magneto look like a sticker, and a rotor button that has a 10 degree range of sweep to fire in.🤔 Great for you to bring the Info from the SCCA, You need to understand that If there was full disclosure on the "detector" prior to the event, It gives the competitor an advantage to get ahead of it, by either a mechanical or political solution. While you question the SCCA's Integrity, why not question the Drivers integrity and claims? Only seens fair in honest debate? Drivers said they were not aware? Surely they read the book before signing onto the series? All these claims of " engine damage" seem like a deflection tactic to a much bigger question? Just my 2 cents.
Where is his "data" on the testing? (He could supply it) .. but hasnt. Just claims? Both parties just claims? But you question SCCA claims with sarcasm and scruitiny? But KRE tested it, And we take that at face value without data, But up to .5 a degree difference in timing? What about the drivers claims of engine failure and wear? Shouldnt we wait to see the verdict on all that? Im neutral on the topic, And believe in honest fair debate.

The points need to be cleared at a minimum they screwed 4 guys.

What a great show, you are good, covering it from all angles..kudos
Thank you! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

Well done SCCA..... not. Beta testing is not a good idea when prizemoney is at stake...
Yeah I think they realise that.
I also think that people just want accountability from the stuff up.

aahh yes the famous "trust me bro"
I love when this dude wins, good for Matt Westfall
Looking foward to your next video.
Would be great to hear whats going on with all of this.
And when are they going to acknowledge the potential points loss and damage caused?
Being from the US, I get confused every time a video pops up that mentions SCCA. Ours is pretty different. Still kinda fun I guess, but different.
The scca has been told and have been informed that the device is not working so they need more information on how it preforms on the cars
Motoplex is drivy clay if its good or flat black slick crud and ellenbrook is sandy poop, 2 completely different tracks
Are you coming over to Perth for the High Limit Event?
Interesting vid! Sure sounds like a typical racing story 😂😂😂
I’m curious to know why do WA sprintcars have 3 groups to answer to, pay fees to (if that’s applicable)
SAWA, SEG, SCCA
That’s a lot of people to answer to

There are crank trigger ignition systems.
I notice there is no mention of the SCCA even offering to pay for the damages they caused to the engines of the cars they forced to run these devices.

It's common on high level US speedway cars, there are definite speed advantages in running them when setup correctly.
So is this device meant to be like a traction control device?
It's a device that detects traction control.
Detect traction control
SCCA's own testing concluded once again that the device was found to be Safe and Effective .... SHH no further questions
What happens if every competitor in the field refuses these devises?
What a shitshow lol

Sounds like SCCA is a branch of Supercars. What a mess

how about just ask JASON as the leader about the truth////

Read into the rulebook on bringing the sport into disrepute.
Lawyer up drivers
You take Ken at KRE info at face value, without question.
But not the SCCAs claims?
Bit bias?
The SCCA themselves literally sent the device to Ken for validation...
