  • I was inspired by Kiwiwhispers' video about New Zealand, so I decided to make one about the UK! I love this country, so i hope you all like this video :-)
And just for extra brownie points, all the stuff I said about our history was off the top of my head :-)
Let me know what you thought of it!
It has been brought to my attention that I uploaded this on US Independence Day. (I couldn't help but laugh at the irony, sorry.) I did know it was Independence Day but it didn't cross my mind at the time... So, please don't be offended, I swear I didn't purposely upload it, I only realised this afterwards! So I apologise. Please forgive me. God Bless America!
    Enjoy!!

@Elelwyn I can't imagine any more snow, this country was brought to a total standstill... i dont think we could have taken any more snow! It was up to my knee's in places haha. And my apologies, they are different people I dont know why I said that! Bloody Mary IS Queen Mary I of England, the eldest daughter of Henry and Mary Queen of Scots is Mary I of Scotland. Sorry about that I got mixed up a little! And Thankyou! :-)

I'm British and I still found this fascinating!! I was indeed impressed that it came from the top of your head and I found the Union flag thing really interesting!! Well done Aurora!! :)

Someone pointed out in an earlier comment that i got them mixed up and i apologised for that. And I'd think before you comment because in fact YOU are wrong and I am right. GB: England, Scotland, Wales. UK: GB plus Northern Ireland. Considering you are also from the UK I thought you'd know that.

Hello, just wanted to say thank you for the video. I spend most of my free time learning about the history and culture of the UK, mostly England though. I really like the North, for some reason feel very connected to that part of the country even though I haven't been to England. Anyhow, I really like your channel and watch it both for relaxation and education :)

Can you do a whisper on the Royal Family? The history of the Kings and Queens, the Duke of York, the Prince of Wales, the tradition of the signet rings that each member wears, the Palaces, etc? Thanks!

I never come farther than: "To me that sounds quite similar to the scottish accent". Then i'm sleeping like an baby lol. I've been listening to this every single night for the last 8 days. Not that ur topics are boring, cuz they r not at all. I love history about countries and stuff like that. But your accent!!...dang...simply EARGASMIC! : ) Subscribe on it's way.

Excellent video! I'm very impressed! I thought this would be a great video to watch seeing that the Olympics start tomorrow (today) in your wonderful country :) I have been interested in learning more about the history my UK brother and sister whisperers share. Thank you very much for making this :)
Oh and just as a aside, our nickles are worth ($0.05, so 20 of them to make a single dollar) They're sorta useless lol :)

Oh goodness ... I can't help but laugh at the snow. I understand that it's brutal for England, but a foot of snow ... that would be quite the mild winter for us in Canada! It also strikes me how here, we know more about European history than we do about our own. I always thought Bloody Mary and Mary Queen of Scots were different people though...? In any case, all the history is impressive, and as always, a nice relaxing video. My thanks. :)

@GoodWhispers The battles on the Eastern Front constituted the largest military confrontation in history. They were characterized by unprecedented ferocity, wholesale destruction, mass deportations, and immense loss of life variously due to combat, starvation, exposure, disease, and massacres. The Eastern Front, as the site of nearly all extermination camps, death marches, ghettos, and the majority of pogroms, was central to the Holocaust.

There's lots of different Scottish accents. I am Scottish but I have a normal west of Scotland accent. But there's lots of accents in Scotland. And there's a few in Wales I think too.

When you were mentioning names for different amounts of money it reminded me of rhyming slang for different amounts. Five pounds is obviously sometimes called a 'fiver' and the rhyming slang for that is Lady Godiva. 15 pounds is known as a Commodore (which clearly doesn't rhyme) but it's because the band The Commodores wrote a song called Three Times a Lady :)

For World War One you got the alliances wrong Austria-Hungary “declared” war on Serbia. so Russia defending Serbia declared war on Austria. Germany defending austria declared war on Russia. France being in an alliance with Russia declared war on the Germans and the Austrians. And since the Germans invaded neutral Belgium, the English stepped in to help the Belgians

Interesting. Americans care about their flag alot because of their revolutionary history. The national anthem about the flag was written about a battle with Great Britain in 1812 where it somehow survived the night this “the flag was still there”. That’s where our love of our flag comes from. It makes sense that our countries with different histories less revolutionary in nature probably don’t have as a deep connection with the symbol of their rebellion

More than 6 years late, but if you care (and don't know by now) you almost had the name of the tennis player perfect. Phonetically speaking: No vack , Jo ko Vick (or "vitch", depending on various dialects).

Hello....Many Americans came from the UK. We also saved you in WW2 you may not have studied this but we have been friends and Allies. I am proud that America and your country are close these days and I have a lot of faith in William. Di's son. Henry was a devoted Roman Catholic, and a book he wrote against Protestant leader Martin Luther earned him the title of Defender of the Faith from the Pope. Interesting. Again I think our alliance is critical now.

@GoodWhispers Of the estimated 70 million deaths attributed to World War II, over 30 million, many of them civilians, died on the Eastern Front. The Eastern Front was decisive in determining the outcome of World War II, eventually serving as the main reason for Germany's defeat. It resulted in the destruction of the Third Reich, the partition of Germany for nearly half a century and the rise of the Soviet Union as a military and industrial superpower.

Yet another whisper clone, just like 95% of the other ASMR channels. Nothing unique & no reason to bother.
