One of the best videos you have made in a while, this is the type of content that will definitely make your channel add subs. Keep making these types of videos
Reminds me of the structural restoration of my boat. I have a 1960 Glasspar Citation. It was completely dry rotted, the deck, the stringers and the transom. It got re-engineered and rebuilt with a thicker deck, massively reinforced transom, added a bilge and a super beefy bulkhead under the deck under the front seats. Today the deck feels as solid as concrete, I've never found so much as a drop of water when I pull the plugs from the bilge, and when I give it the beans, it jumps out of the water and up on plane in an instant. It's a great old boat, cute as hell. I had the upholstery professionally redone back to 1960 original. I love that boat.
Bro I absolutely love these videos. 🙌🙌. So exited to see this to the end and hopefully you’ll have some good footage of it in use after all these are up. Great job brother.
Gday mate ive done a few restos but none on a boat like this , we dont have walers here that is a lot of work look forward to watching the rest and seeing the finished product which i am sure is going to look stunning .
Sometimes if you have a narrow gap between a panel and a backer, you can shove a deflated wheel barrow inner tube in between and then inflate it to help pop it free.
I have a whitewater boat that I just acquired.. it's a 2005 17ft cc ... no soft spots in the floor and the transom seems really solid .. but I'm still worried if it water logged because it seems like was poorly taken care of .. It's a really cool hull tho.. I have no idea about how white water stringers are constructed .. been trying to research as much as possible .. have not had the boat in the water yet to see how it floats .. it may not need to get refoamed at all .. but I'm trying to see what kinda job fixing fiberglass boat is... lol it looks like work .. but idk im up for it if it needs it. .. I also am gonna re gel coat the boat ... I'm really hoping my boat isn't water logged ... because re-gel coating looks like a lot of work too .. the less work the better .. hopefully it's just a matter of re-applying a gel coat
Definitely going to check out your training on the website but a quick question first, could you split the top cap and bottom at the rub rail and do all these repairs that way? I'm not second guessing your work im honestly trying to learn.
You have to be super careful when doing this. I learned my lesson when I re built a hull and ended up with a hook in the hull. Boat never ran the same. 😢
You are tenacious man. That's a huge project. I couldn't do it 😂. Id be giving that thing an overhaul. Flip it over and haul it to the dump😂. Your the bomb for doing this video though. A lot of people are willing to take this on. I unfortunately live in an HOA because I was stupid enough to buy a house in an HOA. I have 48 hrs to work on my boat before I have to take it back to storage for at least a couple days before I can bring it back for another 48 hrs. It sucks I'm moving at a ridiculous pace trying to get stuff done and done right in the Florida Tarzan heat and humidity. My boat is bright white and it's like a frigging giant tanning bed and oven. I have to turn the bilge pumps on to pump the gallons of sweat pouring out of me 😂 . Takes 3 days just to rehydrate 😂. My neighbors frigging hate me😅
Thanks a bunch for the support and the laugh! It sounds like you've got quite the adventure with your boat, battling the elements and the infamous Florida heat and humidity. Don't worry, we're all in this together. Keep cool, stay hydrated, and keep those bilge pumps pumping! 😄
Will that foam gradually soak up water if the boat has a little crack in the fiberglass and is left in the water? I just got a 30 foot catamaran where someone filled the bottom foot of the pontoons with foam and laid a fiberglass floor over that. Should I cut out all that foam and put in a proper bilge pump? Or is the foam going to be OK?
I have watched ALOT of your videos. My question is the brackets for outboards. I need to know more about them. I have watched every video you have on them and it doesn’t quite answer it. Like to glass a transom and add a bracket for example. Pros cons. Etc
Great video but my question is how much should one expect to pay for this type of job? It’s coming up on the end of boating season in my area and there are always good deals on boats that need a little TLC.
The big question is, “how much does the resin cost along with the other supplies?“ as an old guy who has been restoring boats enjoying boats flipping boats and loving them for over 60 years, Born again boating is perfect with its double meaning intact. Boat values fluctuate dramatically between January and June. Of course January is the time to buy even if you live in Wisconsin, Michigan, or Minnesota.
Seems to me that the transom was filled with "structural" foam. There are some real strong foams available that would probably be just as, if not stronger than, plywood.
Key West Waterman (on UA-cam) lives in the Keys and had a Gheenoe made with the console up there so he could see directly in front of the bow as he cruises through skinny water. Seems odd, but works well for him.
Good day! Rose here, grateful for your comment! However, I'm unable to answer your question directly. We've found that these types of inquiries are better-handled one-on-one. Would have been a good time to do a rigging tube under the deck

There's something deeply satisfying about bringing an old vessel back to life and seeing it perform better than ever.

Hats off to you! that's a lot of work! But you do a great work!
I agree with others, this is the kind of content we all come to your channel for... Not all that talky talky stuff although that is fun too...
Great job! Would it be better to use peanut butter (resin and fumed silica) instead of Bondo? I've never had any luck with Bondo on a boat.
Great video Aaron. Really looking forward to seeing this one to the end. That is a sweet little whaler.
Explain to me why you think a roller is better than a brush, to wet out the glass? I assume you use a resin roller to roll the glass out.
I can't express how much I enjoyed this video. Thank you and G'Day from down under.

Awesome video and explanation!!! 😊

When this is done you have to let us know how many hours you put in on this project?
What was the final bill for this build? John from Cape Cod
did you consider building the glass back and pouring a liquid transom? i know nothing. sorry if this is a dumb question.

Did I miss the part where you were supposed to refill the floor with foam?

That's a big project right there!

What's the purpose of having the helm that far up on the bow?
Bully netting for lobster
So those blocks along each side hold up the sides of the deck but is there nothing that holds up the center of the deck?
How did you get that plate off the back? I have that on my boat that I need to get off. thanks! BTW great work!
Pry bars and hammers lol and thank you!

Just watched your second video on this boat. Guess you've got too many viewers to answer questions anymore.

Amazing video, please do a part 2
If you run a snake in there would it destroy all the foam, making it easier for you?
Great video. Thank you.

ready for the finale

Quality work!
is it worth doing all this work on such a small old boat?
A pressure washer works great to get off any foam or foam residue
What is that boat used for with that console on the front deck?
Key West Waterman (on UA-cam) lives in the Keys and had a Gheenoe made with the console up there so he could see directly in front of the bow as he cruises through skinny water. Seems odd, but works well for him.
It’s for bully netting lobster
Wow! Seems like it would have been easier to build that boat from scratch. Nightmare. How do you charge for something like that?
Time and materials
I'm surprised that you did not pour foam under decking
Could have used qcell to thicken the resin and avoid any of those pieces falling
How on earth did they get away without having a full transom?! Great education.
That foam is actually really supportive.
Please walk us through the process (from start to finish) how you evaluate if a boat is worth doing this. 🤔
Not worth it
what size whaler is this?
It's a 13
A boat builder can never have enough clamps!
Can u bend Coosa ??
a snow shovel in FL... who knew
Looks good
Brother where are you located?

We are located at Sebastian FL
What is “pookie” and “Coussa”?
Pookie is just resin and silica mixed together and coosa is a composite fiber board that won't rot! It's a wood replacement :)
Maybe I missed an explanation in the video, but it seems like the easier fix would have been to separate the cap and hull.
The foam in a whaler is everywhere, up,to the top of the gunnels, and the hull-to-deck joint is glassed. They don't come apart easily
I think you need to get a few glass lessons from Andy
Is that a Boston Whaler? If not I wouldn’t waste my time that little boat lol
It is a little whaler
Late to the game there bud. And you clearly commented before watching either all of this one or the first video.
DON NEEEE !!!
Interesting but please take your sunglasses off when talking to the camera.
!!!!!
bondo🤣
Better to buy a new boat
Why post the video on pieces bruh. Just post the whole thing. Such a lame thing to do for views
What the heck is pooky? 😂
