Marvellous - especilly the magnificent Roman theatre and the increadibly well-preserved undergound water cistern. Very enjoyable and informative video. Thank you.
Absolutely loved this truely fantastic Roman ruins of epic proportions , the fantastic carvings and tales of a afterlife ! I am in complete envy my friend-I wish you a fantastic time and have as always posted on my FB history group ❤❤👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐
Oh Sam! My heart skipped a beat when the lights went out. You are in your element exploring the ruins - thank you for taking us on another fabulous tour! xx 😀🤣
Hi Sam, what a place!! Thanks very much for taking us along. You were very brave to enter that crypt (no sign of Giovanni anywhere😅😅), well done for keeping your head when your torch failed. Were there signs of channels to bring water in to the cistern? From what we learnt at Italica the Romans wanted clean fresh water and built really long channels to bring it down to the city, even though that was near a large river. Hope you had a nice break in Italy!!
Hey David! I am so glad you liked it! Thank you! And yes, I'm learning to be brave and going in spooky dark places on my own 😂 I don't know if it shows in the video, I'm sure I have a photo that shows some pipe-like openings, I think to take the water down to Volterra. What an amazing place.
hello again Sam, oh wow that cistern was so nice, ok how fast did your heart beat when your light went out lol, great video as always, well done and thank you😊
Hello Davie 👋🏻 thank you, glad you liked it! Oh it freaked me out big-time! It took me a while before I realised that the light had a motion sensor 🤦🏻♀️🤣
There are so many beautiful places in Italy. But this village... Etruscan, Roman, Medieval all in one place... a dream. That spiral staircase scares me though. 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
Some really beautiful and stunning images. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to enjoy the tombs at the beginning, as that Spiral staircase set my vertigo alarm off 😅 Great video Sam, Grazie molto! Xx
Pleased you mentioned D.H.Lawrence. Anyone interested in the Etruscans should read his book 'Sketches of Etruscan Places' and, even better, follow the journeys related in the book. I know Volterra well but it's always full of tourists these days. You found the places that most visitors know nothing about. Great video!
@@SamWalksALot Just also found your video of Cerveteri which DHL visited. Spent a week five years ago following him visiting Etruscan tombs from Cerveteri to Tarquinia finishing off at the National Etruscan Museum Villa Giula Roma! Enjoyed your videos very much.
Another great video. THose movement sensitive lights are a pain. I used to attend a local slimming club with movement sensor lights in the loos. Always went first before weigh in. Had to take a torch or stand up and wave to put the damned lights back on. Forgive if too much info. Thankyou for posting. looks like an interesting place.

Grazie Mark! 😁 I wasn't sure I wanted to go down that staircase to be honest, i had to be extra careful but I simply HAD to. Xx

I Find The Etruscans Far more Interesting Than the Romans 😂🎉 I Can’t Help it Fascinating to me 🤓😂 There is Something Familiar About it I Like 😂🤓👍
