petrolium jelly (vaseline) works as good as coconut oil
you can find coconut oil in every supermarket, and petrolium jelly at the drugstore or the dollarstore
Both are around 1$

you can also use Vaseline but make sure you add way more Vaseline or the lipstick hardens from the wax

yes, but the lipstick will be hard and hard to apply, use more vasaline than coconut oil when substituting it.

It worked so well. To make it not taste/smell so bad you can add peppermint oil.

jacky nieto i just tried it with petroleum jelly and it worked very well but with darker colors... i made a light pink and it didn't show up so i made a dark red and it shows very well. I now use the pink one as moisturizer!!

You can use a black COLORING PENCIL (by crayola) as an eye liner though! You put the tip of it (the lead part) into a cup of hot/warm water and use it on your eye. You can also use it as a lip liner!

When I made it I used Vaseline instead of coconut oil. It worked great!

put some peppermint extract in the mixture and it will taste like peppermint. Other than that it will taste like coconut.

This is probably the best ways to save ur money if you don't want to spend that much money on just one lipstick instead you could buy a pack of crayons and have tons of colors lol.

Don't make lipsticks or any other cosmetics with crayons!
"They're non-toxic" is misleading and means practically nothing in terms of using it as a makeup product.
First, the pigment in crayons is not safe/regulated to be used for cosmetics. It can cause serious problems. The specific dyes/pigments used in crayons can cause skin irritation or dermatitis. It is also very likely that you'll have gross chapped lips.
Paraffin wax has a pretty high melting temp, higher than your body's temperature. So when kids are eating it, they get a lower dose of all of the chemicals. The crayon does not melt (which causes parents to have to change weird chunky rainbow diapers). The crayon stays solid and the chemicals aren't absorbed into the body.
However when you mix it with something else, it lowers the temperature needed to melt the crayon. So when you ingest it (which you will) all of those chemicals CAN be absorbed into your body. Making it a little less "non-toxic". It won't harm your health much but it is still not smart to ingest it regularly.
I'm not 100% an expert (obviously) but I know enough to know that YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE CRAYON LIPSTICK!
Besides that, the colour payoff/texture of the lipsticks are generally going to be bad and hard to put on. This video looks like she didn't let it completely dry. Just get some cheap lipstick. If you want cool colours then get Nyx Macaron lipsticks. They're very affordable (around 5-7€).

Crayons are non-toxic (because they need to be safe for children just in case they consume them) so they're 100% safe. A lot of lipsticks that you buy may contain lead..
Some colors are harder to find (like black, blue or green)

This was great for the green, gold and blue metallic colors I needed for my cosplays. The only problem is that they weren't as opaque as I'd like them to be. Is there any way I can get them to be more opaque? Would using food coloring work?

You can also use a spoon over a candle in stead of the stove and pan but it takes longer because you can do different layers with the spoon
