I think every owner should be using an AOS or catch cans if/when they have the money to get one...and should consider it a must-have for any modified VB. The oil cooler I would raise some caution on for people who live in colder climates. Where I am it is nearly freezing 5 months out of the year. Oil temps are meant to go above 212F so that the water created by the combustion process can boil off and out of the system. Oil coolers on daily driver cars in the north are frankly more likely to be counter-productive to longevity and performance. A surprisingly large amount of water is made as a by-product of burning fuel. If your rate of evaporation and exit is lowered too far, you end up with condensation of that water in your oil systems. All that being said, if you live further south, drive like tickets are just warnings all the time or strictly track your car, an oil cooler may still be justified up north...so long as your oil temps can still peak high enough for long enough.
That's a really good point on the oil cooler. It's not for everyone. I do track my car and plan on doing more of it next year. It does have a built in thermostat that only activates at a certain temp so it won't be cooling all willy nilly.
@@HeavyMetalWRX I think for where you live you will be fine even if you drove gently. The extreme temp changes where I live make it the kind of item you would want to be sure you need. I have seen triple digits here in summer occasionally and the winters I see negatives regularly. my comment is meant for people in my circumstances. My people advised against the mod for the reasons I explained. I wish I had the link one of them sent me explaining how much water is created burning fuel. They told me that everyone knows you dont want oil temp too high, but that a lot of people dont realize that you do want your oil to be literally boiling hot. the closer you can be to holding between 210 and 220 the closer you are to perfection. My concern also comes from mishimoto a little, in that their thermostatic activations are 160, 185 and 200 degrees...ALL below water boiling temps...ALL allowing water to condensate in the oil. I want a thermostatic cooler that activates at 230 and cuts off at 200-210. If I could stay in that range I would be very happy.
I'm going to say it, good video. I may be a critic or a negative Nancy at times on this but this video is on point. Good installation video and product preview.
Perrin has been a huge supportive force from the very beginning. I can't believe I even have them as a sponsor. I'm forever thankful to Jeff Perrin. 🤘🙏
Right when I started shopping for all of this, you drop a video!! Haha. I can't wait to see the results. Also, I'm surprised you still have the stock pitch stop still in.
Glad the lights are working out! I need to get an AOS... and been waiting and hoping Perrin releases a resonated cat back for the VB. Had one on my BRZ and it was perfect.
I have not done any of that. I know what my temps were on track days (245-260). So really I won't have better results until next year....if I go back. 😏
@@HeavyMetalWRX hmm I think in one of your videos of you doing some POV driving through the woods you were hitting like 230°. Maybe you can do the same cruise and see if there's any difference?
I just installed AOS and oil cooler too on my VB only problem with the Perrin oil cooler is that it didn’t come with a sandwich plate with fittings for my oil temp gauge 😢
No dumb questions. I think it depends on your driving habits. If you're not lugging, not modding and not pushing it too hard you don't NEED one per se. But it's still a good mod to keep the car healthy. To answer you more directly, no u don't need one. Is it a good thing to have? Yes. Compare it to bigger/better brakes. Do u need them? No. Well they help? Absolutely. Except it's not for the brakes in this scenario, it's for your engine. ⚖️
Great vid i was going todo my aos last weekend but decided to wait til after the tr trim imfo in case i decide i wanna trade mine in for that. i also have a question do you or have you heard of others having issue with windshield washer fuild light coming on every time you use like more than 10% of the brake pedal?
Surprise, the TR looks like a dude. I saw the car and driver on it this morning. Brakes , recaros, 19incj wheels, eyesight but no STi transmission. Also possibly $48k. It's gonna be a no from me dawg.
@HeavyMetalWRX yeah I don't think it will be that much it doesn't have active suspension was hoping they were going todo sti Trans tho but same here it'd be cheaper to buy a brake kit than trade in an I can live without the Recaro even tho there nice an already have sti wing on my car
I got my aig AOS installed. This one seems more complicated to install. Dont feel a difference but my gas mileage got better. Its the only mod I've done so far
Yea I think the Perrin one is probably the hardest. I'm doing the KillerB one for my buddy when I get back from Florida. They claim you can install it in 30 minutes. I'm the perfect person to test that 🤣
So that's how I could get a Perrin CVT cooler and an Oil Cooler at the same time, putting the oil cooler in the strut brace. Congrats! I'm new to this (WRX and mods) and I'm willing to give it a try on everything but the CVT cooler as I have to install a new one, not replace it. I got my WRX a month ago, do you think I should get the AOS asap? Or would be better to get the front intercooler and after that the AOS.

best part "whoever told you that the radiator fan removal is easy SLAP 'EM"🤣🤣🤣
I speak the truth 🤣
Was that 38:19 sound from final fantasy? I felt your pain on installing hoses and dropping stuff in the engine bay 😂!
Yes!it was FF7 music when you rest at an inn.
I smiled when I heard it.
I'm going to say it, good video. I may be a critic or a negative Nancy at times on this but this video is on point. Good installation video and product preview.
Tha n you for the kind words! This install was a very long one too, ran into a few snags but it's been working well so far!
Hey buddy just saw your car at subiefest Florida. you were busy with a bunch if people, but awesome to see you in person. Keep pushing that content.
Hey man, I'm doing the ride along with Travis pastrana. Maybe I can meet you back at the airport racing booth. Text me on Instagram
@HeavyMetalWRX yeah bro we're watching him get wild out there. got plenty of videos of him shredding. you're lucky man!
Safe travels to Florida!
Thanks man, I'm 8 hours away. Stopped at a Sitdown Pizza Hut in Georgia. I felt like I'm 5 yo again
"The hos got me stressed" lmao
But for real tho, they do. These hose ain't loyal. Gotta check em for leaks.
Thanks for the shout out! Good to see you FINALLY got it on 🤣
Bro, us small creators have to work together. It's the only way.
This was a tough one to film and install. Oh well, see you all in Florida!
WOW! That is awesome of Mr. Perrin! Great install too!

How did you mount the oil cooler to the strut bar?
It was a special bracket that Perrin made. It was already attacked to the oil cooler when I got it.
Is there a way that I can get it?
I’ll second that cause would like to add it to the strut bar considering the front bumper is filled up with the FMIC
Right when I started shopping for all of this, you drop a video!! Haha. I can't wait to see the results. Also, I'm surprised you still have the stock pitch stop still in.
Haha dude....AOS was a tough one....everything else was pretty easy.
Glad the lights are working out! I need to get an AOS... and been waiting and hoping Perrin releases a resonated cat back for the VB. Had one on my BRZ and it was perfect.
Dude...the lights are AMAZING. I still use my lamp but the lights offer so much flexibility. Thank you again!
Eyyy!!!!!
Time to get at it! Subiefest prep is done 🤘
This is awesome! Have you documented oil temperature drops in real world drives and rips with the new oil cooler?
Congratulations man

The IAG AOS was just as tedious lol. Wanted to use the Perrin one but there were no install videos
Papa Perrin hooked your ass up! 😂
Aren't you supposed to use teflon tape on the fittings. Great video enjoyed it.
I looked into it and it was suggested. Unfortunately I didn't look that up until after I started the install so I just went yolo on it.
I just installed AOS and oil cooler too on my VB only problem with the Perrin oil cooler is that it didn’t come with a sandwich plate with fittings for my oil temp gauge 😢
I bet if you talk to them they might be able to work something out!
“ITS A LIL LOUD” 😂🤣
Just a little 🤣
Dumb question, but if I'm keeping my vb wrx stock, do I need an AoS?

I think you should just get the aig. You dont have to cut and use old parts with the new. The instructions are straight and simple.
I struggled with your name at midwest. How do u spell it?
It is Awais. 🤘
Thanks. I feel terrible even having to ask.
@@SavageBluetick haha dude don't feel bad! I talk fast and I have a different name 🤘
Hey HeavyMetalWRX! Is there any way I can contact you? I just installed my Perrin TMOC but I came into a bump and need assistance.
What's up man, catch me on Instagram. I haven't installed any TMIC but maybe I can help!
Send me the old stuff! Lol
