Two Americans that moved to Italy in our 50s. So glad we came to live this better life before we were too old to enjoy it!
kudos to you... i had the opportunity in my 60's, and i 'chickened out'..
How? How did you get a visa to move there permanently?
@@angelal1607 there’s options for different visas but we were eligible for citizenship from our family history
@@DANIELJRAINEY Oh, OK. Sadly, I don't qualify for any European citizenships.
@@angelal1607 I met an Italian and fell in love, that was how I did it...which now I see online is not as uncommon as it would seem.
YES! do you remember me? I am the person from NYC that told you this city isnt all you would think it is. I am so happy to hear you are moving to Italy. And as an owner of 3 cats - don't worry your baby will adapt with your love and support . I am working on my Italian citizenship so please send up a few good thoughts/prayers for me for that. Hopefully I will be following your move to Italy!
Hiii! Thank you for all the kind words! Sending all the prayers for your citizenship. That’s amazing!!
Italy beats NYC, YAY! Three rats and we're OUT, lol! Excellent decision ❤
I think you will decide to live in Italy full time and so happy for you both.I am American and my wife is Filipino and I live with her in the Philippines,Life here is so much easier and peaceful than in the USA.
That’s what I heard
LOL I love the part where Alessio's says this chapel is for Jessie's to go to confession for breaking the spaghetti! Great video today. I'm so excited for you both!
Consider Abruzzo!!!! It is a central location, property is cheaper, it is beautiful and unspoiled nature and you have the mountains and the sea. I’m originally from Sicily but my wife’s family from Abruzzo and I fell in love. Don’t rule out this beautiful region and good luck with your home hunting! 🇮🇹
And the fooooood! I mean, all of Italy has specialties, but the pasta from Abruzzo, and the Sulmona confetti, and….
@tonypatti1142 my husband and I are searching for a retirement home in Italy. What towns in Abruzzo do you recommend looking in?
Hi! I'm from Abruzzo! We just got some new Canadian neighbours this summer, they're lovely, I'm a bit jealous of the home they bought, is the prettiest in the zone 😆 ❤
@@tamic193It depends on how far you want to be from a town really... A friend of mine is selling a wonderful two store villa at a very low price because is 30 minutes by car from the nearest town. Of course if you want a closer one the price goes up.
Marble floors. Hmm my friend had those but when she fell on the floor. She had problems for the rest of her life. Always be careful.
This was the healthiest, sweetest, most joy inducing conversation I've ever third wheeled in 😂. But seriously, thank you for inviting us into your discussion! I know no one is perfect, but you are both doing a damn good job of showing the world how it's supposed to be done. God bless all three of you on your adventure 💖🙏🕊
❤️❤️❤️
Italia has been calling my heart - home. Full blooded Sicilian and working on my Dual Citizenship for myself and Grandchildren. Your quest to return to Italy is another sign for me. Eager to see where and what you choose. God Bless you Both!
Hi, read your comments...how is the dual citizenship going. I'm 100% Sicilian. My wife and l want to have dual citizenship too. We are jtst getting started...and thing you can share. And pitfalls have you experienced. Thank you
Sign for me as well! I received my Italian citizenship and passport and you will to. I need to be there!❤️🇮🇹
That you are putting your baby first among any decision shows what incredible people you are. You could look at natural remedies such as pheromone collars and sprays to see if they help relax her, and if they do could help with future travel.
I hope it all happens for you, you are both so lovely you deserve the best.
I also LOVE how much you both love Micia. It’s so wholesome how much you both invest in her and this transition.
Jessi your gentleness and kindness really shines through. I truly admire this about you. We would be lucky to welcome you to live in Europe
I'm from México and I've been living in the States for almost 10 years, and I'm missed that slow pace back home, and I think Italy has the same vibes. I'm always looking for new adventures and I've been dreaming about living in Italy. Good luck!!!
It's not Italy itself, It's Italians that slow down when they can because as far as cities like Milan, Rome, Florence, Genoa, Turin etc go, they can be as active and stressfull as big cities in USA. Fact Is that most people in Italy work to live and dont live to work.
It is so wonderful that you are thinking of your cat's health and happiness as you plan for your move. Such good kitty parents. There are so many exciting possibilities ahead. Remember to find joy in your current life, and not only look at the dream in the future.
Happy to see you are back and sharing your journey with us. You have many good plans. Taking it slow is the key. I was very impressed with the cat training. Your cat really trusts and loves both of you. Amazing!!!! I love your channel and your adventures in Italy.
That’s so exciting!!!! Your fur baby is adorable! When I flew with my cat we got a pill from the Vet that and she was great the whole flight and she will absolutely adjust to living in Italy. You are both young. This is a good time to make a move like this.
Guys! Please look at Abruzzo! I know it’s further south than everywhere else you have looked/mentioned. But Abruzzo is amazing! It’s amazing value for money, the food is exquisite, and there is a good mix of mountains and beach. Just try a holiday there. It’s slightly less touristy, but honestly I love it there and I think it’s so underrated!!!
@jakebrittian6566 where in Abruzzo do you recommend? My husband and I are looking for a retirement home in Italy and keep hearing about Abruzzo.
Sulmona in the mountains. Pescara by the sea. Scanno higher in the mountains. So incredibly beautiful there. People are amazing and food if perfect.
That first property that Jessi and I loved, you could turn one or 2 if the out buildings into a bed & breakfast. Makes it much more affordable.🙂
Look into having the cat as a emotional support cat for Alessio .. you get certificates to have the cat on the plane with you in flight in the seat 🙏🏻
People with allergies nightmare
If I were brave enough, I would move to Italy in a heartbeat
I’m so happy for you both! I have no Italian heritage or family there, but boy that place calls the soul. I often dream about having a place in Italy, but you having a husband with family and friends there for support and community means so much. Best wishes for you both on your journey ❤️
You should also look at Abruzzo! Beautiful villages and incredible views!
My parents are on vacation in Italy and got a picture with you. It was so cool to see a picture show up in their texts with you. Looks like your house hunt was successful.
My husband and I are Canadians that bought a place in the Lazio region last year. We travel back and forth a couple times a year with our two kids. We were frustrated with the "rat race" and needed something more and to unwind from our life. A bottle of wine in, we contacted an international lawyer in Italy and put in an offer sight unseen. Not only do we love it but our kids do as well.
I would recommend doing it sooner then later as all the legal things take forever to approve and it took us 4 months from offer to keys. We vote for Lazio region, for us it is 1 hour to the beach, 1 hour to Rome and 1 hour to the airport! Bonus is the great weather and scenery!
You can talk with your vet, and they can medicate her for travel to help with anxiety. We do that for my little dog. He has terrible anxiety when we first start our trips.
Now, that I am officially an Italian citizen, I am going back this fall to hopefully, find my Italian hamlet. In the USA, I am paying $319 a month for medical insurance and $349 in condominium fees, besides all the other bills to pay. Italy has been my dream for awhile...art, history, museums, architecture, food, yes gelato and majestic churches where I can pray my Rosary. In bocca al lupo.❤️🇮🇹
They should probably rent as that is much cheaper as well as have time to look and decide where to live.
My Grandparents (all four) from Sicily ended up in Souther CA because it reminded them of their home. They loved their garden and weather. But lifestyle in CA is .. GO TO ITALY! I want to go to
That's because California is one of five places in the world with regions that are categorized as being mediterranean, climate-wise. So not all of California, but some parts (like SoCal) have a mediterranean climate.
Hello from USA J&A&M! Wherever and whatever you decide many of us are out here cheering for you and wishing you all the very best that life has to offer!💐
I moved my cat from texas to italy - great job working on the harness. Id also get her used to the carrier. I put my cats out with the door open. She started sleeping in it. During the flight she was fine next to me on the plane. Its a lot of work, expensive, and terrifying but totally worth it!
I've traveled with my cat to and from Europe three times total. My cat has anxiety as well and the vet recommended Gabapentin to keep her relaxed. It makes a huge difference! I'd recommend asking your vet about it :)
I can tell you worry about your fur baby handling the travel by plane. It will work out. From what you have shown us so far, Tuscany is your #1 area of choice with your budget & what you are searching for. I agree moving from area to area 3months at a time. I wish you the best of luck in the coming year.....from sunny Southern California
How does that work as far as them going pee? International flights are long, the time at the airport etc
@@elizabethw.454 From my experience, my cat only ever peed once in her carrier at the very end of a long travel day. Both other times she didn't until I had her travel litter box set up at our destination.
Same thing with food and water - she wouldn't really eat or drink out of travel food bowls I set up for her during breaks in the journey.
She would eat singular treats though, so I gave her those throughout the journey!
Take a ship 🛳 and avoid a potential cat-tas-tro-phy! You’ll have a blast! 🐾
@@elizabethw.454youll probably need to use a puppy pad at the bottom of the carrier for any possible accidents. Longest flight my cat has been on is 5 hours and no accidents.
I love that you are thinking of making a move while you are so young and not tied down with kids in school and 9 to 5 jobs. I hope you eventually find the perfect place for you, but I'm not sure there is a truly perfect place. I say this because I have lived in both England and the U.S. several times and, when I was living in the US, I missed things in England, and when I was in the UK, I missed things in the US. That is just something people who move around adapt to. But you are young and this is the perfect time to test the water. I wish you all the best and I look forward to following your journey through UA-cam. In bocca al lupo!
I just love that you're going to such great lengths to make sure your furbaby is ready for her big adventure. I have a cute little black cat too.❤🐈⬛️
Under the Tuscan Sun is one of my FAVORITE movies! I am so excited to watch this journey with you both!
I watched a video of you two looking to move to NYC when you went there on vacation. Now you want to move to Italy after you went there on vacation. You have what they call don't want to come home to reality blues, lol. My husband and I do it all the time.
Ragazzi come to Abruzzo we have the mountains ⛰ the most beautiful beaches ⛱ and spectacular lakes Micia will be fine...she'll start meauing in Italian ...make a leep if you think too much you'll be only worrying the whole time...vi voglio bene ragazzi ❤
How lovely! Best, best luck and happiness to you!
How nice hearing the two of you are going to move to Italy! I'm an Italian lady from the region Marche... Have you ever considered the chance to move to the Furlo area (where I live)? It is a spectacular place, not far from the seaside, set in a Natural Reserve and surrounded by beautiful, gentle mountains. Lots of foreign people have settle down here in the last decades, and many people have their own projects of bio-farming in the area. If ever you like to have more information, or you need help for finding some possible solutions, I am at your disposal! I would actually love to have a personal exchange with you. You are two lovely people, and as I am in a culturally "mixed couple" too, I find your daily life suggestons very useful ❤
Big choices! I think living split U.S. and Italy will give you the variety you want 👍❤️
you right! 6month in usa and 6 in italy it is the best
brought my two old cats 12 and 15 from Hong Kong to Vegas six months ago. Didnt train them for anything at all, they were perfectly fine with 20+ hours travelling and all the security checks. God bless, so grateful.
FIRST! I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH! AND WISH YOU GUYS NOTHING BUT THE BEST ON YOUR JOURNEY! TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE! ❤😁
Grazie mille il tuo messaggio e' bellissimo❤️
@@ThePasinis Of course!
Exciting for the three of you. I appreciate that you included us in your decusion and you two share with each other, so much love you have, it is beautiful 💗. Best of luck with all your future and God Bless bless you both.
I’m excited for you two (three)! You will not regret moving to Italy. So much more to do and see in that part of the world and a more pleasant lifestyle in the areas you are looking. My husband and I moved from the US to his country and are so happy we did😊
You both are beautiful people with a big heart to think of your cat so tenderly. Your cat is so blessed to have you both. Your husband thinks like mine, practical. He makes sense . He is funny, too.
Just go for it, Mucha is going to be happy wherever you are. Animals adapt really good to different places, my dog has travelled with us by plane, car, boat, you name it, she adapts. They only need us to be happy. Don't wait for the perfect time to jump, just do it! :)
Micha is small enough you can bring her to your seat on the plane ❤
CIAO! CIAO! I started watching you this year (2024) and love your youthful enthusiam. My husband & I will be going to Italy this fall. Actually my parents are from the Friuli area like Alessio (Pordenone) and I LOVED the video where you suprised his family. I totally understood the dialect and it made me cry with fondness of Italy. I've been many, many times but this will be my husband's 1st time. Ironically I was born & raised in Canada - but I have always felt my heart was in Fruili! Good luck with the house hunting. AND JUST DO IT! baci...da Canada xoxo
Tuscany,Tuscany,Tuscany! The best there is! Grazie sharing your wonderful life together.
You need to go through Puglia. 500 miles of coastline & 1000 year old olive trees. We are retiring there this December. Good luck to you both. I enjoy your videos.
You two go where ever your heart takes you. You have to be happy in life. I for one will miss how funny you are in the states so it would be cool to see you back here from time to time if that works out for ya.
I am so excited for you! This adventure of finding your dream home and going though the process of moving there will be amazing! I would really love to live in Italy!!
There's definitely something missing in the US and life abroad is AMAZING ❤❤❤
As an old 76 old guy You both are for me an inspiration!
So gentle with the kitty!! And congrats on your decision to move!! Good Luck on house hunting!!
I love the region of Lake Garda ❤ My favorite holiday destination. Greetings from The Netherlands.
How exciting! :D Me (Belgian) and my Italian husband moved last summer to Friuli and we're loving it! I'm happy to follow your story :)
Oh my gosh! I am so excited for you guys! My husband and I have thought about moving to Italy. We’ve only been there once. However, it is my personal dream to live there. And, I think my hubby saw why when we were there!
Love my favorite French, Italian couple!!!! Looking forward to your adventures. God bless eternal love. Wishing you all the best❤
I was in Marche a few years back and can not wait to return, it was honestly some of the most beautiful, peaceful, amazing area in all of Europe and I have traveled pretty extensively in my life!!!!
Always so exciting to watch your videos from Italy. You both look so peaceful and at home in Italy. There is CBD for animals and it calms them down without hurting them. You might want to look into that. Love to both of you 🤗🤗
You're asking yourselves all the right questions. I like your decision making process. You will make the right choice for sure.
Best of luck finding your dream home! I hope you find something great that you can afford. 🍀🍀🍀🍀♥
Your cat is a supermodel, so incredibly beautiful. Even the face stands out among cats!
Your heart is always happy there. I hope you find the perfect home there for you❤
There are travel sickness tablets for animals but most of all she will pick up on your stress so relax around Misha when you do go. It’s all exciting from now on just making new goals and the journey…Congratulations.
Wish you best of luck my prayers are with you💕
Jessie, your dresses remind me of an Italian princess when you walk the streets. I really hope you guys move to Italy and find your little heaven on earth!
Get a Feliway collar (pheromone) collar for Micia to help with her anxiety, the trip and her quarantine period, you can also get a plug in diffuser for your home for her to settle in. I can’t wait for the new adventure. 💖Michelle from 🇦🇺
I think it's so sweet you are so concerned about your kitty. We're the same way with our pets, and we have two black German Shepherds and a black kitty. 🐾🐾🐾🐾 🐈⬛️
Tuscany has everything...Sea, Woods, Mountains, art...buy there!🎉
For Micia. Like others said here. Put a carrier out in the house. Put fave blankie toys & treats in it.
She will “get used to it” as a thing in her home. GER FEELIWAY SPRAY! It is a spray for the carrier…
Also spray some on your hands and clothes…then pet Micia near glands & her paws so it absorbs.
The Feeliway is supposed to mimic the pheromones of a lactating mama kitty. It worked pretty well when I flew my kitties from NYC to San Diego and back. Also if kitty is panting on plane bc she is nervous keep putting water on ber tongue so she doesnt dehydrate. At the airport…drape a light blankie over the carrier while in crowded places. The less sensory overload the less stressed she is gonna be. She can do it! Im so excited for you guys! 🎉😻🥰
I say live in Italy full time with trips back to visit family. It's obvious, from your videos, your souls and hearts are in Italy. 💖💖 If Micia is traumatized by one trip, why do it four times a year to her?
Your video made me emotional!😂 I want to live in Italy and I'm not even Italian. The life here in the US is way too hectic.
My husband and I have talked about living in Italy for several years. We finally start looking more seriously for next year. We know we love Umbria and Sulmona in Abruzzo. We've been thinking to get a 3-month rental in Perugia (Sister City to Grand Rapids, Michigan where we live) as our base to get a feel for other places. Or we may do 1 month in 3 different regions. He can't decide. We'll be following your journey. Buy you a celebratory glass of wine if we actually make it to Italy next year!
Being Italian I think it won't be easy to choose: so many beautiful different places and quite different lifestyle (from area to area). 😅
@@Cr4z33_YT very true! I feel “at home” in Umbria. We’re hoping to see if anywhere else feels the same. Otherwise, Umbria will be home someday.
Umbria, is beautiful. Spoleto, Perugia...I love Assisi!❤️🇮🇹
How exciting!! So happy for you both
Native Texan here. I lived / worked in Verona for 3 years and came back in 2010. Now, I'm looking to buy a house in Abruzzo.
Wow ❤ congratulations and best wishes 💜💜💜 only lucky people will have own house 💜💜💜💜💜 God bless you both 💜💜💜💜💜
We are Americans, we bought a house on Lago Maggiore and can’t wait to be there full time. We love our Italian neighbors
Favigana, Italy.. One of the Italys Egadi islands, It's an Oasis of wild Italian living... My father grew up there & It would be a dream of mine to raise my kids there.
It's definitely a slower pace of life! Can't wait to watch your new adventure!!
Your intro was stunning ❤❤ I’m so excited for use 😍 Italy 🇮🇹 is my dream ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh when you buy a great series could be decorating your new home 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Side note, my husband did all the renovations and had help from our Italian friends when needed!! It was a lot of work but worth it.
Thank you for having these discussions. My wife and I plan to retire to Italy in 10 years or so. We plan on moving to one of the 7% tax areas at least for the first 10 years we are there. And we want to do 6 months there and here like you.
I saw the video when you guys were eating Mc Donalds in Pordenone. We live in Aviano, I recognized the places you guys went. How awesome, from a fellow American ❤😊 Love your channel, I’m going to miss Italy so much when we have to leave, so I totally know how you feel 😢
I am currently in the same situation, except Poland. Every time
I go “back home” there’s just something there that I don’t have here. I have two pups and I know the adjustment period for them would take quite sometime, so the 50/50 living situation (although ideal) wouldn’t be fair to them. The choices to be made are endless; I’m excited, but also scared. Thank you for this video and I look forward to this journey for you two!
We spent last 10 month in Poland because I missed my home. Happy to say we are flying back to the States in 2 weeks. I want to have a place here (or maybe Italy) but it is hard to live here full time.
I love Jessi's favorite property it has so much potential even for a small home business
I use something called Rescue Remedy when my pup gets stressed out. It's completely safe and natural...and worth a try! Buona fortuna amici!
I chose an apartment in Alberobello near my relatives. It is a tourist town and has many cultural activities to entertain the tourists, but I live in the area away from the trulli. The cost for a six room apartment was very inexpensive. Puglia has beautiful beaches, beautiful caves, and so much history.
It‘s a big step to move to another country. But I would definitely do it, too. My family is also from Italy (Naples) and I would love to live at the Amalfi coast one day. It’s my happy place and life is just so much more fulfilling in Italy overall. Good luck to you! 🤍
Good luck, your going in the right direction.
Watching you guys closely, I'm thinking of moving to Italy, so an interested in everything you have to say. Micha is a lucky baby to have such caring parents❤❤❤
My husband and I went to Italy for a family wedding in Positano and we fell in love with Tuscany. If and when we move there, we want to meet you two.
Good for y'all!!!
Great video guys. Good luck in your endeavours.
My girl is 9 years old & just take it step by step. You can get a backpack carrier for Mishia as well & make sure to get her accustomed to being on a leash. Plus, a good tick/flea collar can help prevent from her getting any bad parasites.
It took us a long time to find the right place, but we finally decided on Umbria. It covered all the requirements since we are of retirement age, we could not be overly adventurous at our age. 😊❤
So happy for you guys … 🙏🏻 pray n the lord will provide. Hello from Bahrain 🇧🇭 ❤
Just a thought with the property Jessi loves, B&B potential for sure.
You are about 3-4 years ahead of us. We are planning Bari or Lecchi area. Looking forward to watching your journey.
Perhaps you meant Lecce? 😁
Look in Abruzzo. Coast to mountains. Borders Marche. That’s where we are looking. Great wine.
After my recent visit to Italy, Tuscany was by far the most beautiful and where I would go. Maybe someday we will be neighbors 😊.
Big decision, obviously not an easy one, take it from someone who spent 38 years in the US Army and now retired, live in the states, but own properties in several countries giving me choices. You guys are young and are planning your future, be wise and don't stress yourself, and don't limit yourself, the rest will fall in its right place. Love your videos...PD Siena is very beautiful 😍
Good luck guys!
Definitely move to Italy. Best of luck 🍀
